What's the thinking on Tsimikas? Safe starter if he's benched in EL?

I have both! With Trippier and Taylor so need Tsimi to play.

Liverpool have guaranteed top spot in the EL group so I think Tsimikas would get 0 or limited mins midweek then a start at the weekend.

Don't know if 'safe is quite right, but I have him and am thinking 'likely' starter, moving to 'very likely if tested in EL. I'll be having him in my starting 11 either way.

Should be fine I think. Dead rubber in UEL so they can just play 2 of Gomez/Chambers/Bradley at FB

Tbh Gomez played well versus Palace. I can see Gomez coming in at RB, Trent in midfield, with Tsimikas LB.

    Areola Turner
    Porro Gabriel Lascalles Guehi Taylor
    Son Saka Palmer Salah Gordon
    Haaland Watkins

    1) Turner to Dubravka
    2) Taylor to Colwill and play with 4 defenders for the next 2 weeks assuming Haaland out
    3) Take a hit to get Dubravka and Solanke for Haaland and Turner assuming Haaland out

      1. Newcastle looked exhausted - not sure I'd pick Dubravka even if it was for a FT
      2. looks the best option
      3. I'd avoid. I dont see the point in taking a -4 to make sure you have a keeper.

There's a chance areola plays - if he does you're sorted.
You need a clean sheet to get to a net 2pts, without the clean sheet you're on a net -2, it only gets worse from there.

a hit for a keeper last week would have balanced off.

Who would you switch up in this wildcard team? Dubravka perhaps.

    Martinez
    Trent Porro Pau
    Salah Son Saka Gordon Palmer
    Watkins Solanke Alvarez

    Dub. Gordon Senesi Robinson

    £1.4m itb.

Should I switch Palmer out for Gross this week, rather than booking a transfer in?

Wouldn't waste a NEW slot on Dub if you're going to be playing Martinez. They're knackered now, but will get good again at some point and you'll probably want three. That said, I haven't looked at their rotation, and if Dub and Mart dovetail nicely then keep him.

I'd also downgrade one of your bench defenders to dirt cheap. Incredibly unlikely you'll need to dip to the second, even more unlikely that they'll return any better than Taylor/Baldock/Bell that needed week, and you already have a good first sub from your 8 attackers. There's money in the back, but that doesn't mean you need to spend it. Appreciate that some people don't like having the dirt cheap players though. Same disclaimer as above, haven't looked at any rotation. If these specific two are in to cover specific poor weeks for your main three defenders, then ignore this paragraph!

    Early transfer thoughts:

    Haaland available:
    A. Save FT
    B. Guehi to Porro

I don't think I need to make a defender transfer. Livramento should play in his preferred RB spot with Trippier suspended. What can go wrong with double Arsenal and Newcastle defence for the 3rd GW in a row!

    Haaland unavailable:
    Haaland to Solanke

    Straightforward move to Solanke.

    1FT 1.3ITB
    Dubravka
    Gabriel Saliba Livramento
    Salah Saka Palmer Gordon Son
    Haaland Watkins
    (Areola Archer Guehi Taylor)

Looking at Arsenal's fixtures from 19 onwards, I think I will keep double defence.

Gordon to Rich from 20 is an option I'm looking at.

    Leno
    Trippier*, Robinson, Lascelles

Wait and see. Only 10 players is very comparable to a -4 hit (10 players being better off the one you get in doesn't return).

If Haaland is out, then probably replace him as he's got the blank too. Otherwise, make sure your transfer is still an improvement in the medium term as well, not just gaining a small, non-guaranteed boost this week only for more hurt in a week or two's time.

    3. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

Options are very limited for defender transfers with no budget - very unlucky. I don't think playing 2 at the back this week is all that big a deal though - might end doing that myself.

Personally I'm in the sell-Haaland camp, and with no bench cover I'd recommend the same. Simple version might be something like Haaland - Watkins, then Darwin - Haaland in 19. More complicated/risky version might be something like Haaland & Taylor - Watkins & Trent, and just go for a one premium setup til after AFCON (selling Salah for Haaland in GW20)

    4. Tonyawesome69
      • 6 Years

If there is a defender you want long term I would consider taking a hit this GW. Downgrading FWD spot is where you'll get some money

I almost felty sorry for you, then saw you had Son. I do have 3.8m in the bank, so I could get him in for Gordon or Hwang.

      Areola (Johnstone)

Salah (c), Saka, Gordon, Palmer, Hee Chan
      Haaland*, Alvarez (Nketiah)

    Turner (AREOLA)
Lascelles ANDERSEN CASH Tsmikas (Cash KABORE*)
    Salah Son Bowen Hang Gordon

    Thoughts on:
    A) Areola & Kabore to Dubraka & Sensei (-4 hit)
    B) Areola & Nketiah to Dubraka & Jimenez/Cunha (-4 hit)
    C) Cash/Andersen & Nketiah to Saliba/Gabriel & Jimenez/Cunha (-4 hit)
    D) Any other suggestions

Maybe not Wilson, he is so brittle? Is Newcastle as a team healthy. They are dog meat lately.

DCL is playing on a winning team, suddenly

          he'll share with Isak too.

are Fulham sharing goal between them?

I'd say Alvarez, Solanke and possibly Watkins albeit Villa are away.

    Mbeumo and Mubama to:

    A. Tavernier and Jimenez

    B. Kluivert and Solanke

Juggling between Solanke as a long term option but not really wanting one strong starter and one weaker bench player, and having two good rotation options that maybe aren't the best assets from their teams

      B. Quite like Kluivert as cheap bench option.

Won't move until after Europe, although could cost me a few hundred K.

    Areola*, Kelleher^
    Trippier**, Gabriel, Tsimikas, Lascelles, Gusto*
    Salah, Saka, Bowen, Gordon, Palmer
    Haaland*, Watkins, Semenyo

    2FTs, 1.8M ITB

    A) Bowen & Trippier > Son & Porro, leaves 1.2M ITB (free)
    B) Gusto, Trippier & Bowen > 5.3M DEF, Porro & Son (-4)
    C) Bowen & Haaland > Son & Alvarez, leaves 7M ITB (free)
    D) Any defender & Bowen > Defender value minus 0.1M & Son (eg Gusto > 4.0M def)
    E) Gusto, Bowen & Haaland > Porro, Son & Alvarez (-4)
    F) Other?

Worth noting if Areola isn't back I don't have a playing GK either.

If Haaland is out would you sell him for Solanke or do Kabore to Porro?
Thinking of keeping Haaland as my bench should be strong enough to cover him as save myself 2FT down the line.

    1FT 1.8 ITB

    Dubravka
    Gabriel Lascelles Colwill
    Salah Son Palmer Saka Gordon
    Haaland Watkins

    Areola Tsimikas Archer Kabore

I think you have a good defence this week (fixture wise), and can wait on Porro next week.

      Both are hot players.

You want Porro regardless, but you only want Solanke conditionally to Haaland's absence.

You could get Porro and Salanke with money in the bank.

Stress reactions in foot are not a one week injury, especially for big dudes like Halaand. I am pretty sure he is out vs Palace, in which case selling him looks like the best way to go.

Yes but equally it could just be a sore ankle (the same one he has injured in the last few months). Let's see if he trains this week, that will be the biggest clue. I think he will be fine.

Even if he misses Palace it's not straightforward:

2 transfers used(Haaland out and in) + soon we will all sell Son and Salah, hardly any FT left, meaning won't be easy to deal with any additional injuries (I'm sure there will be some during christmas).

just sacrifice him until gw21 and trade Salah to Haaland then.

        simple enough.

Yes, this has more sense but means selling Salah against tired Newcastle at home, Tottenham just scored 4 against them

I had thought the same, but this match is also the first time Newcastle very more than half a week rest between games for ages (26th Dec to 1st Jan) so we could see them back to some strength.

Also, after reading the AFCON and Asia Cup article again, there's a small chance that Salah has to join up with Egypt on the morning of the match. (Given precedent last time, is expect them to be flexible again, let him play and join up a day or two later, but it could happen. )

I'm very open to changing my mind, but at the moment, I'm planning on taking Salah out for GW20.

I don't know if it's confirmed already but I'm pretty sure he will play against Newcastle:

"However, FIFA relaxed these rules in AFCON 2021 and allowed players to stay at their clubs until January 3, a mere six days before the competition began."

But I agree that selling Salah before gw20 might be the best for those who needs to sell Haaland now and bring him back later on.

Seriously? How simple is to sacrifice and not play Haaland in GW20 against SHU at home?:)

Also Salah to Haaland are 2FT and you also want to sell Son before 21, so that's already 3 transfers.

Not saying keeping Haaland is the best but alternative you gave doesn't sound impressive at all

Without Haaland, Son, and Salad, this game is going to be crazy.

One can own any player, price rises are meaningless.

      it's true that's the rumour.

apparently he's not 100% fit and they are looking at all options.

      something could happen in Jan.

no, if cash comes in konza would likely go to cb and carlos benched. torres is the best because emery wants a left foot cb at lcb and lenglet is nowhere near torres' level. konza and carlos is more competition for a spot.
