I've been torn all week over who to bring in for Archer to give me options if Haaland's out this week (and possibly Gordon) and to cover Haaland's blank next week. Really wanted to go for Cunha but it didn't make sense on paper with the fixtures and boiled down to Raul Jiminez vs Big Dom. Got a bad feeling about Big Dom but it makes sense and you can't ask for more than that, we overthink things in this game sometimes. He's a better option than Archer is the way I'm looking at it, and a better option than one of my defenders instead of Haaland in 18. Just a question of is he a better option than Cunha or Jiminez and is he a better option than whoever he replaces in the team this week if Gordon and Haaland are fit. Have benched Gordon fwiw.

I like Solanke and have talked him up to my mates as an underrated footballer pre-season and someone I'd like my club to have a look at (Wolves, FWIW).

I'll say this though; without checking I think of the last 10 goals Bournemouth have scored he has only been involved in 2 (2 goals, 0 assists). Underlying is there though, but the ceiling doesn't seem high

Also, I've had Cunha last couple of weeks. He's a natural runner from deep but knows when to hit the box. I got him at 5.6 and was happy he was close enough on merit to Solanke to bank the difference. Might have both soon though

Punting on DCL - who has already missed a game and had minutes managed in recent weeks - in the busy festive period seems like a recipe for disaster

    Archer > Cunha/Raúl (-4) Y/N

I had the same dilemma, luckily had the budget to stretch to Dom instead but both of those are good options imo. Raul probably has the better short-term fixtures after their trip to SJP but Wolves always score. The other thing is I can see a lot of sides ending up on 343 when Son and Salah are off and then Archer will be shipped in mass, not many nice midfielders left to turn to, Toney might become an option in January too.

    Morning gents,

    Could really do some with some advice here if possible;

    Areola
    Lascelles Gabriel Tsimikas
    Son(c) Salah Gordon Palmer Saka
    Haaland** Alverez

    Leno Archer Guehi Bell

    1 FT and 2.4m ITB.

Haaland to Watkins then Alverez to Halaand in 2 weeks perhaps??

Its a move I am likely doing - however your defense will need some TLC very soon

      Tsimikas - Rotation Risk
      Lascelles - Botman back soon
Guehi - Palace form and fixtures arent great
Bell - Never rely on Luton

Haven't read this article yet as I want to talk about a comment I saw under the "How attention changes the way we play FPL" article about how we can change FPL to make it better.

Someone said they should create more ways to earn points; I honestly believe that they should bring back "Ultimate FPL". 25 man squads; 11 starting, seven benched, seven reserves. Swapped between each match-day as opposed to gameweeks, including captains with the ability to gain 1 point for every three (combined) clearance, block or interception and many other features. It would reinvigorate the highly-attentive managers and at £5 for the year (that was the old fee if I remember correctly), it's a bargain to play, I wouldn't even care if they didn't offer a cash prize at the end of the season like they used too.

Would give anything to have this mode back and throwaway the boring draft mode.

Music to my ears. As a player of other fantasy games I find the limited scoring methods in FPL (goal, assist, cleaning, bonus 1-3, save points pen save) frustratingly simple. I attribute it to a desire by the powers that be to set the bar low enough to get quantitative engagement vs qualitative engagement, which is what a die hard is eager to give.

Not being a tool but currently sitting at 29K and a regular top 10K finisher in years gone by so acknowledge there is a level of skill but the limited scoring opportunities still make it a crap shoot between the top couple of hundred K managers probably.

I'm an Englishman in Australia and for any of the Aussie contingent of here SuperCoach (for the internationally niche sport of AFL i.e. Australian rules football) is the fantasy gold standard imo), and some of the cricket models aren't bad. FPL depressingly basic in comparison, but I'll play to the end

Had you ever played Ultimate? There were so many extra ways to get points but also just so much more fun for engaged managers. Imagine Salah plays Saturday gets one goal but you’ve got Haaland playing Sunday vs a bottom half of the table team, do you move the captains armband off Salah and lose those points to risk Haaland scoring more or do you stay safe.

Porro gets an assist but concedes two so only has four points but Trippier plays at home the next day, do you make the swap.

Was, in my opinion, a lot more fun!

Complicate matters and they will lose players. A fee and it moves towards gamble territory.
Rather have a v2 with different rules then?...Give ppl the option to choose.

Are you new to the FPL scene? Everything I've just asked for used to exist. It was £5 entry, £25K prize pool (I think). It ran alongside the main game, like draft does now. I'm just asking for it back. You won't lose players you'll just get engaged and interactive managers playing both/moving over as we did back in the day.

It matters but you're changing what I've said/completely ignored the points I've made...

Complicate matters and lose players = No it's a separate game targeted towards engaged managers
A fee and it moves towards gambling = It's £5, like it used to be and I even said, don't even make it a prize the fee is for additional workload/servers?
Rather have a v2 with different rules = Exactly what I'm asking for, exactly what there used to be...

I think this is a fantastic team. Not sure how far that 2.2 really gets you but if no Trippier I’d be after Watkins, NEW FWD and someone like Kudus if the budget allows if not Hwang or the like. Then I’d wanna upgrade Lamptey ever so slightly.

Based on Howe's quote on Gordon, it sounds like a grade 1 hammy strain which takes a few days to heal. That is base case and a scan would need to take place to show the full extent of the issue. Quick turnaround to between Wednesday and Saturday, probably unlikely we see Gordon play this weekend imo.
