Just a big thanks to all those who donated to my charity page a few years ago. The school in Uganda is now complete and a lot of children have a future because of you.

"our inability to rotate the team has maybe caught up with us in that respect.” – Eddie Howe

When Howe had the chance to rotate, he didn't. That's what has caught up with Newcastle.

    Wildcard punts…

    Nkunku?
    KDB (Son for 1gw)?
    Odegaard?
    Gross?

      KGB oops KDB

Nkunku I think will thrive, I am just not sure when is the time to get him. I think Poch will manage his minutes a bit for the next month or so.

KdB likewise, I will 100% get him in at some point, I just think that point is still a month away.

The other two, I'm not so sure. Odegaard has not really managed to hit any consistent form, although tbh none of Arsenal attackers have. Gross I think is/was a great FPL asset. Not been great this season returns wise but is starting to hit some form. Also seems to get the minutes that a lot don't under De Zerbi.

Out of that I'd perhaps only go Gross now but then with an eye on Nkunku soon.

Those Nuno comments on Wood and Forest attackers in general sound very good for them going forward. Think I'm going to go with Wood on WC as the 8th attacker, happy to have him rotate with a couple of mids, good fixtures (including this weekend) and he's cheap which should help with getting Salah and Son back

I've had him for the past 5 weeks as an 8th. All I will say with a decent playing option as your 8th is it's a bit frustrating - I started him for three blanks and have since benched him for two hauls. If you can ride that, I think he is the best option at that price.

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years

That's fair, but tbh I'll take it over the way my team has been in the last 5-10 weeks. Osula has at very best come in when I'm short with 1pt, and I've had the likes of Kabore come in a lot too (I actually played him purposely for their 1-0 win v Newcastle and of course he went off injured at HT). Bench points are frustrating but I need some decent cover in this period of the season

I've had him for a few weeks now. Benched last week and this, of course! Still, as an 8th attacker he seems a decent shout.

Hello anyone with a good understanding of how deep Salah and Son expected to go in their respective tournaments and therefore their likely returning gameweeks? Need to decide which I'd sacrifice to bring Haaland back. Thanks for your responses.

Salah will miss 22-24 (and 25 if Egypt go deep) but will also miss Luton in 26 if Liverpool get to the EFL cup final as that fixture will be moved. I'm selling after 21 and banking on Liverpool getting to the EFL Cup final

I think you're out by a game week. Egypt play on 14th Jan which is GW 21, he could be back for GW 24, or poss GW 23 if they do not progress

Someone posted the odds a while back. I think S Korea are slightly more favoured than Egypt, but there wasn’t much in it - not enough to let that influence your decision imo

      1. EffPeeEll
        • 5 Years

Egypt are 1/20 to qualify out of the group stages and 4th favs to win it outright.

S Korea are 4th favs to win it outright so must also be big favs to qualify out of their group.

That said knockout stages are sometimes 50/50 affairs.

Salah: Egypt reached final last time by a very defensive set up, and were a bit lucky to get as far as the final. It's depending on how they draw in the cup, they will most likely advance from group. Egypt usually thrives when they play the other big guns, but have the odd game where they lose to weaker teams.
South Korea: very likely to go through to cup phase.
If I'd to bet on which team goes out first it's Egypt. But Egypt can also win the thing. The middle quality teams in Africa are closer in quality than in Asia.

RMWCT please. Salah & Gordon will go to two of Jota/Rich/KDB/Ode/GroB in GW22

    Raya - Areola
    TAA - Saliba - Konsa - Braithwaite - Taylor
    Salah - Bowen - Palmer - Gordon - Garnacho
    Haaland - Watkins - Solanke

      Might not be.

      Victory to the sellers?

Manchester City are sweating on the fitness of Erling Haaland ahead of their game against Everton.

Haaland has not played since he suffered a foot injury against Aston Villa three weeks ago and seems unlikely to return to the team at Goodison Park.

It has been reported that the Norwegian striker did not take part in training on Boxing Day.

But Pep Guardiola has not given too much away about Haaland’s fitness and the Club World Cup has given him extra time work on his recovery.

I've just been playing with FPL transfers & looked at keeping Salah whilst he is away (bought at £12.7m)
Here is a potential front 8 I could have once Son & Salah are back
    Saka , Salah , Son , Bowen , Garnacho
    Wood , Solanke , Haaland
A couple of cheap inform differentials in there
Other midfield options could be KdB & Maddison when available

    1. g40steve
      • 7 Years

I see Salah & Son dropping quickly as folks invest the cash in squad.

I don't currently have Son & not planning to get until he returns

All my other trades would be downgrades until Son returns

I am staggered by how badly I've done with goalkeepers this season. I have 1 clean sheet from them in 19 gameweeks, Matt Turner's in GW8!

Sold Pickford for Areola after no cleanies, Everton turn into a superb defence. Eventually sold Areola for Leno after no cleanies, Areola immediately gets CS and bonus, while Leno has got me 1 point in the 2 games I've owned him for.

The rest of my team has done ok so I can laugh rather than cry, but honestly the GK spot feels like a cursed position.

Same here, i've had two cs though got dubravka 7 points in gw 17 aswell but same with pickford and areola. I usually do really bad with goalkeepers but this must be a record.

I wonder how many Haaland holders have managed to improve rank since he's been out?

I've still kept Haaland, after gw15 I was 577k now I'm up to being in the top 48k, plus I have Salah and son so been OK for me
