    Current transfer thoughts:

    - Save FT
    - Archer to Alvarez (benxh Saliba)

Save FT is the sensible move to deal with Haaland and Son/Salah. However it may be a bit passive and Alvarez (c) in seems a bit more aggressive and potential short term upside move.

    1FT 3.6ITB
    Areola
    TAA Saliba Gabriel Porro
    Salah Saka Palmer Son
    Solanke Watkins
    (Dubravka Gordon Taylor Archer)

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years

Prefer Gordon to (C)Foden instead, which is what I'm doing. Foden is more likely to start than Alvarez when KDB and Haaland are around, which seems to be two GWs away

Also, reading the post-match quotes... Foden is the striker in Haaland's absence, not Alvarez

Staying away from Newcastle (outside the cheap Dubravka rotating with Areola) until their form improves

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 6 Years
        1 year, 11 months ago

Maybe in terms of xMins, it would impact Alvarez more than Foden when Haaland/KDB are back but it would also impact Foden's role and FPL appeal as well.

Agreed about Newcastle but could hold and bench Gordon until 22/23 when fixtures turn.

Those performances against Forest and Luton killed my patience

Long season ahead, and I feel they'll eventually get back on their feet... But the combo of Alvarez's expected starts with Haaland and KDB fit (Archer perma-starts for Sheffield) and Foden's role as the striker made it straightforward for me... Also the face that I'll be selling Archer for Haaland anyway, while Foden stays in my team for an attacking double-up in that fixture run that includes a DGW soon

          Good luck, either way 🙂

Understandable with Newcastle, certainly won't be buying them. Still a good team and no Europe so 1 game a week should help their form again imo.

Regarding Foden role, was this not specific to Everton man-to-man marking and switching Foden and Alvarez to drag and leave space?

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years
              1 year, 11 months ago

Nah, Alvarez isn't a target man. I recall Foden regularly being the striker once Haaland isn't fit, as he has more of an eye for goal

Read Foden's quotes in the last article. He expects himself to keep playing down the middle with Haaland out

              1. Tonyawesome69
                • 6 Years
                1 year, 11 months ago

I never said Alvarez was a target man. I was stating more movement off the ball to drag the defender to leave space for Foden to run into.

Wasn't that Foden as false 9?

I understand the patience with Gordon, fwiw. It just looks like a prime spot to get Foden in while keeping Salah vs Newcastle and Son vs Bournemouth

Without burning the extra FT on Archer > Alvarez > Haaland

It then means Gordon has to show enough for me to sell one of my more expensive strikers to get him back and switch from 3-4-3 (Garnacho 1st sub) to 3-5-2 (Archer/Wood first sub)

When everyone fit we'll get the mess people thought we have had the last four months. Until now it's been easy to pick City attackers. That's not going to be the case in February, when UCL starts. And it will also affect Haaland. Alvarez will, when Kdb is fit, affect Haalands minutes, City made a blunder (medical staff) and played Haaland while he had the stress, they won't risk that again. And we've seen that Alvarez makes City a more fluid, and imo, better team.

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years

Clarification: Haaland hasn't played or strained since he got this injury

Once he noticed it after the Villa game, he couldn't walk without pain and it took a day or two for him to be pain-free enough to walk. That's the first game he then missed and Pep told us about the bone stress

It's not a muscle issue. Once it's healed, he'll be completely fine to play nonstop like before. Pep said that in his last presser too

          1. bench boost for every gamew…
            • 8 Years
            1 year, 11 months ago

Yes, I know it's not an injury. And he could play non stop. But they made a huge mistake, the stress came from overload after the game for Norway vs Faroe where he stretched his foot and landed awkwardly. And you'll get that kind of reaction when you play too much, with that body construction, and in an intense league.
With UCL the fixture pile up again and with the aknowledgement inside the City medical team of their blunder, combined with both Alvarez and Kdb fit, will have an impact on Haalands minutes.
Wether that makes him a lesser FPL option is debatable, I don't necessarily think so. But if they persist in doing the same as they did in the first 15, he'll get another injury. They don't want that.

Szoboszlai will not take a pen for Liverpool atm. The pecking order is Salah, Darwin, and if none on pitch, it's down to who wants to take. If you order pen takers only from which are best then the logic is Van Dijk. Is he taking it. No.
Klopp is pretty simple with pen takers. And Darwin took one ND scored, and he's record, mentality and composure on pens I doubt Klopp will take them off him.
The only thing counter is that if the captain team decides to give it to Trent, but I don't think it's likely. My guess would be Trent if both Salah and Darwins not on pitch.

Gordon to odegaard? Or roll the transfer? Won’t be till after tonight’s game.

    Areola
    Zinchenko / porro/ TAA
    Salah / son / Saka / Gordon / palmer
    Watkins / Darwin

    Dubravka / cash / archer / tosin

      Looks fine to roll.

Who would you want to bring in for 21?

    Odergaard, Jota, Foden or Richarlison?

      I'll be getting Jota in

assuming you already have Bowen, Jota may be a good replacement

They're a mid-table team nowadays so I guess making them any shade of rouge would be inaccurate.

A lot of it is personal interpretation but not sure why you'd argue on this one. 4 wins in their last 10 (including 9 man Spurs, Sheffield Utd, and a late win via a penalty against a Palace side that have won once in 10). 1 clean sheet in that time, conceded 20 goals, should I go on?

Great moves this week. The -4 should be repaid straight away. Only worry is Alvarez is a sweating-on-the-teamsheet, transfer back out, waiting to happen from 21 onward

Not exactly my area of expertise but I would expect so, yes, given that Akanji was the one stepping into midfield before Stones returned

Alright chaps, what do you think I should do here, 2FT and 0.8ITB:

    Dubravka
    Trent | Porro | Gabriel
    Salah | Son | Saka | Palmer
    Watkins | Alvarez | Solanke

    Turner | Luiz | Trippier | Maguire*

Thinking perhaps Maguire to Senesi or someone cheap and save other FT.
    Feels a bit boring though!

    Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thanks

Looking at gprdon to foden - but that makes it extremely tight for future moves (ie getting richarlison and hasland for archer and salah in gw21 - just 0.1m to spare)

    Open to suggestions. Thanks

Q: Mo going to Afcon , does it make TAA attacking prospects less or same?

Don't think it makes much of a difference, Jota is just as clinical as Mo these days
