People considering using a wildcard around gw26 to avoid a couple of blanks for Liverpool or Spurs could get burnt.

It's only one game they miss, maybe gw29 but you'd want to wildcard to get them back in ideally!

I always think a wildcard is best held to get you out of a tricky situation or to respond to right away changes like the Haaland opportunity before Christmas.

There are may ways to WC - some do it when their team requires it and others from a point of strength.

I would rather WC and maximise points potential from the 2 best teams in the league than WC to fill my squad up with players from poor teams.

If anything it's refreshing to see manager adopting their own strategy - in recent years it feels like most have used the same strategy. There will be a lot of variance between now and GW38.

        Yeah, I agree.

I think the excess of double gws previously with COVID or the Queen's funeral put a bit of a straight jacket on the chip strategy.

Last season the WC to dgw BB worked for many but it's less obvious this year and more flexible.

Yup, I think this is the first 'normal' season in a while in regards to blanks, doubles etc. I personally have WC'd this week even though my team was decent and ranked quite well (12k).

    Completely stuck on what to do here chaps and would really appreciate any advice;

    Leno
    Porro Bell Trippier
    KDB Foden Saka Palmer Gordon*
    Haaland(c) Watkins

    Areola Gabriel Estu Archer

    0.5 ITB and FT used.

Was always set on Saka > Jota and then Porro to VVD to give me Lpool coverage for BUR and then DGW but now debating as to whether bringing in Jota for Saka for a -4 is worth it..

Won't be able to bring in any Lpool unless I downgrade someone like Saka..

Thinking the same. Not 100% sure if it is worth bringing Pool attackers since none of them are exactly nailed for players that have same amount of fixtures over 3 gameweeks and are nailed. Going to be very tricky

I would feel extremely uncomfortable without one of Jota/Darwin for the next 2 GW. I would take Saka out.

This is a really good shout tbh and one I hadn't thought of.

However, I am able to afford these moves right now but looks as though Jota will go up in price and Van Hecke too, so it's likely I won't be able to afford them after this GW.

        Thank you

      You do need a plan.

Can you manage something different like Porro to VVD?

Not sure of the price difference off the top of my head!

Is Gordon to Diaz way out?

Otherwise Watkins is the enabling move, but who too?

      1. LC1
        • 9 Years

        Unfortunately not mate.

Can't afford to get VVD or Jota / Diaz unless I downgrade Watkins or Saka, and both have great fixtures.

        Very tricky!!

          Keep Saka and sacrifice Watkins.

Would that give you Nunez and VVD and lose Estu or Porro?

Or just do Trippier to VVD, does that help you afford Jota and retain Saka?

          1. LC1
            • 9 Years

Yes, can afford Watkins & Estu / Porro to Darwin & VVD.

Trippier to VVD doesn't allow me anything else tbh.

            Appreciate the good advice mate.

Will be rolling next week so have two FT's for BGW so I can field 11. I have no LIV in squad for their DGW or home game vs Burnley, so with that in mind am considering moving a BGW player on to get one in. So with that in mind:

    A) Porro to TAA
    or
    B) Palmer to Jota

    1. Sheffield Wednesday
      • 3 Years

B as Palmer has MCI away GW25 so that's 2 weeks at least you won't play him.

If I had to choose then B. Porro is a good player to have post bgw26 and I do believe that only 1 Liverpool player could be enough for 24 + dgw25.

How do I get Haaland back here then?

    Raya
    TAA, Porro, Gabriel
    KDB, Bowen, Foden, Palmer
    Watkins, Solanke, Alvarez

    Turner, Garnacho, Moreno, Gusto

    2 FT 6.2 ITB

    A) Moreno + Alvarez > 3.8 + Haaland
    B) Watkins + Alvarez > Darwin + Haaland
    C) Porro + Bowen + Alvarez > Van Hecke + Jota + Haaland (-4)
    D) Moreno + Bowen + Alvarez > Van Hecke/Brainthwaite + L.Diaz + Haaland (-4)
    E) Other

2ft and 1.2itb. Konsa injury royally screwed me last week with points and for bgw26...

    Ederson
    TAA Saliba Porro
    Saka Foden Richalison Palmer
    Haaland Watkins Solanke

    Dubravka; Garnacho, Konsa*, Colwill*

Basically feel like I have 2 options.
    A. Bring in Jota this week for Saka which books hits for bgw26
    B. Play passive and do Colwill* -> Alex Moreno to prepare for bgw26. Locks in the plan to manage until gw30/31 without WC or FH.

Would you get Garnacho or Barkley as cheap enabler to start (or rotate with Estu / Branthwaite) at least as far as GW26-28 time?

I like Garnacho better but only being swayed to Barkley bc of DGWs, despite them being tough fixtures… and Barkley also obviously leaves me with an extra blanker in GW26, but that can be navigated

Don’t like Díaz as a pick, Jota far more clinical. I had Gvardiol for months and I barely remember a clean sheet.

Playing twice is one thing but the inevitable consolation goal will most likely leave you with a grand total of 4 points in the DGW.

Liverpool defence is leaky and then you have to waste a transfer to remove in 26. you also get -likely- 2 extra fixtures up to 29 with the Luton man.

Only 12 GC in 11 home games for Fulham this season. For some teams with no obvious bench option in their front 8 I think its the right move this week

In a similar position. I have Jota too but don’t have an answer as they are all on pens and against average defences.

Eddie Howe says Anthony Gordon has not trained this week but added: “We're hopeful he'll be back sooner rather than later.”

      That's a sell then - or maybe not - Howe's injury updates are useless . . . .

"Not trained" is solid gold info from Howe, relatively speaking

Fine to bench this GW and assess for 26. Also good enough reason to sell this GW to Liverpool/City as well
