Day 1 and I've already built the strongest possible side:

    Flekken
    Gvardiol - Burn - Andersen
    Foden - Gordon - Diaz - Eze
    Haaland - Watkins - Isak

    (Turner) (Mykolenko - Winks - Harwood-Bellis)

Which Chelsea GK finished last season as first choice? Reckon they will keep the gloves or is it 50/50?

Or get both at 4.5m and just suck up GW1 vs Man City? After that fixtures are very favourable

If (big if, I know) Chelsea click early then having both their keepers means you'll only ever have one of Gusto, Cucurella, Palmer, Jackson, Colwill or even James when he's back. Given their opening fixture run that could leave you in a world of pain.

Not sure seen such wide variety of RMTs preseason.

That Haaland 15m nonsense has put cat amongst the pigeons in a big way, and other pricing allows for loads of options & formations.

Are you currently in the Haaland in or out camp. Personally can't justify 15m when Alverez can cover 😉

Not sure yet as it depends on combos but I'm just content that it's a valid question. In favour: summer rest, trust him more than Salah with captaincy (at least til I see more of Slot's Pool), spectre of a light initial schedule for Foden after Euros (captaincy GW2 & budgetary reasons). Against: price! and abundance of alternative forwards who can compete with him points-wise (could easily go Watkins/Havertz/Isak or Muniz/Pedro)

Honestly, I think there's quite a lot of variety. I'm liking this first draft process a lot more than last season already.

There are various combinations of heavy in defense or midfield. Haaland, Salah, both or none. There's a lot of interesting combinations.

      1. Eze Really?
        • 11 Years
        1 year, 4 months ago

I agree it is better but if you air to the conservative, we end up with similar teams.
        Haaland vs Salah
        Nkunku inclusion
Arsenal vs Others are the main areas for variance.
It is better, but still limited.
I would have liked to have seen red flags being a free transfer and then no need to carry forward too many FT's. Also, if one hits a luck early, the rest will trouble to catch up due to FT retention.
        Cheers for your comment.

What are peoples thoughts on Havertz? Seemed to be getting more returns.
Will his position change be a good or bad thing?

    1. Tommy Template
      • 11 Years
      1 year, 4 months ago

I'd have thought it could only be a bad thing considering he plays in a side who did keep clean sheets and he was getting more points per goal as a midfielder. Saying that he didn't do a full season did he? I might be wrong there but that is another consideration if he's more important now than he was at the start of last season.

If he continues as the target point in preseason and bags a couple goals, show in for me.

    3. The Tonberry
      • 1 Year

      Have Havertz in my draft.

8.0 is a great price for what looks like being Arsenal's first choice forward. If Arsenal continue to score goals as frequently as they have done, he could easily reach 15 goals a season.

I think the position change is a good thing as he is instantly a better FWD option than Jesus and Nketiah, but he would have been a difficult FPL choice when Saka and Odegaard are more desirable midfield options.

There's two players I've heard being mentioned quite a lot who I'm really not sure about.

Nkunku is one of them although I get the logic behind him a bit more than the other one but the negatives for me are that he missed a lot of last season and while we're probably not talking about Reece James levels of injuries, he did only manage 25 Bundesliga games in 22/23 so he could just be turning into a bit of a sicknote. He needs to prove it for me in terms of fitness and being suitable to the Premier League.

The one I really don't get is Joao Pedro. Yes he's on penalties, yes De Zerbi has gone, yes they are out of europe this year. But was De Zerbi the source of the rotation or was it because they have so many options in attacking positions which as far as I can see hasn't changed. They were really poor last season by their standards. We don't know if the new manager likes him or not. Also correct me if I'm wrong but he didn't score a single non-penalty goal last season in the league? Given I can see the award of penalties dropping off a bit based on what we saw as interpretation of handballs and fouls in the box over the Euros which I think will carry over into the league, he makes limited appeal to me even at his price. A final point would be if he's a rotating option as a 3rd striker, he will frustrate the life out of you trying to work out when they might get a penalty.

Ignore the bit about Pedro's goals I was reading the wrong column on a table. He did score some goals that weren't penalties.

They're both risks as they missed chunks of last season plus they'll be playing under new managers whom we haven't yet seen how they'll set their teams up.

Aside from Salah, Trent, Palmer, and Bowen who we all know are nailed and proven, I'd avoid players from clubs with new managers at the helm until we've seen more on how they will set up.

I‘ll most likely have 2-3 arsenal,
more focus on attack, even tho there can easily be 2-3 cs in the first 5
