    RMT No 1…

    Sanchez
    Trippier / Munoz / VDV
    (S)alah / Son / Palmer / BrunoF / Kudus
    Isak / Muniz

Iversen / Konsa / Ait Nouri / Stewart

Chelsea are shopping for a keeper, I think I'd rather go with Pope and get someone in for Trippier. Not convinced by WHU fixtures either and there are a lot of options in that 6.5m mid bracket.

Other than that it looks fine.

I prefer MGW over Kudus, but not much in it. Having Salah hurts defence.

Excellent article, thanks Tom. Think I will start the season with Leif Davis first on my bench. He'll help me get to 5 free saved transfers as he can start for an injured player or a bad GW1 pick from gameweek 3 onwards.

      Obviously need to check pre-season minutes on some of these but if nailed;

Tosin, Quansah, Andersen, Mykolenko, VdV, Konsa, Dunk... too many to mention. You could easily make a very good case for 5 of these to 1st WC and be correct.

I have changed again, I have my head melted looking from rotations. I have morphed from a potential BB team. To an overall solid squad of 14 players which can be interchanged based on fixtures. I have abandoned three Arsenal and two spurs at the back. Because it was too constricting.
Tried to get attacking defenders with good fixtures.

I tired to get players with high XG if I could players who take shots etc preferable

    Raya (Sanchez)

(or whoever starting Chelsea keeper rotates well for difficult arsenal fixtures)

    --
White - Porro - TAA - Burn (Gvardiol)
    --
    Hudson-Odi - Salah - Johnson - Gordon (Nkuku)
    --
    Watkins - Isak (Stewart)

    --
I couldn't get a defender more attacking than Burn with a good fixture at that price.

Fascinating data. Vitaliy Mykolenko actually had the most goal attempts out of all the Everton defenders last season. Even more than Tarko despite starting 10 fewer games. Just 1 yellow card all season too (Tarko had 11!).

Good point. Less than half were inside the box. Still, not bad for 4.5 and given Everton's opening 10.

speaking as an Everton supporter, he's good value at 4.5 but i wouldn't really count on his attacking threat. might be good for a couple of bangers but Branthwaite and especially Tarkowski are more of a goal threat off set pieces. i don't expect us to be scoring much from open play again.

Even soft shots on target help defenders with baps if they shoot like Gvardiol. Mykolenko had higher PPM than Branthwaite Tarko. Being 0.5 milion cheaper he has to be best option. Pure luck if someone of them scores before first WC, so money decides imo.

Hear me out. Plan to have Haaland for IPS with Salah and not compromise team elsewhere.

    Sanchez - Fabianski
    Mykolenko - VdV - Martinez - Konsa - Bellis
    Salah - Palmer - CHO - Rogers - Winks
    Haaland - Isak - Havertz

    GW 2 - Save FT
    GW 3 - Haaland + Rogers ➡ Watkins + Foden
    GW 4 - CHO ➡ Eze

Catches all good fixture runs. This plan solves everything. 🙂

Just believe you’ve got to start with someone in that bracket to give you best balance to react to whatever happens in the first few weeks. These teams who have gone without Haaland and/or Salah, what’s the plan if either is the wrong approach with flexibility in where you’ve placed your funds?

No Haaland Wait three gameweeks and sell Watkins and one of my high priced defenders would be my move, if I really had to.

But I think given Haaland's price the smarter move would be to get two three "value" form players instead of ripping up your team trying to get him in.

      1. InTommyWeTrust

I get the logic but I’m sat at the opposite end right now. Think I’d much rather be wrong with Haaland than wrong without him as the easy move after Ipswich let’s say, is Haaland to Watkins and either a 5.5mil to Palmer/Foden/Saka or 6.5mil mid to Salah depending what we’ve started with

Garnacho is pretty good I think.

IDK why, but so far since the game was released, I have been drawn to Man U assets. Originally had Bruno, then Garnacho, now only got Martinez. But I am keen to have at least one in GW1 and hoping Martinez is good to go.

Maybe they turn it around this season, I think my gut is telling me that, but normally my gut feeling doesn't feel like this, its different.

      Mykolenko, Konsa, Burn (Robinson, 4.0)
      Salah, Palmer, Eze, Hudson-Odoi (4.5)
      Haaland, Isak, Muniz

it's certainly the safer option for captaincy. but then i see my top draft up there scored 500 more points last year and i feel like i can swing it. i'm sure it won't go well either way

Well Gvardiol might keep a clean sheet gw1/palmer might not score. So you hedged your bets there.
I am amazed you are going no Liverpool at all given their fixtures. I wouldn't be that brave.
Also I would love to know where you got the 4.0m striker! 😀

You will at least have guaranteed starting keepers if you pick Virginia.

There is an obvious structure to the team, you will just have to work within that as the two 4.0m defenders leave no leeway.

appreciate the feedback. yes no LIV is the potential killer. maybe Gvardiol to VVD? i don't really trust any attacker besides Mo but Isak -> one of Gakpo/Darwin or Gordon -> Diaz is also open.

still a million drafts to go through, i'm sure. i'd feel more comfortable WC'ing early this year either way with the increased FT limit.

Good point on the early WC. I have gone TAA and Salah in my draft - based on fixtures, likely starting and potential points.

I did look at VVD but decide to go all in on "big at the back" - benching Gvardiol, getting Porro, and White. I only have Burn because of needs must.

Bear in mind I had a terrible season last year, so I could be completely wrong on strategy.

Early WC helps nothing if it is done without enough saved transfers. Saving them is difficult when we want to catch good bandwagons.

Nothing wrong with White, but that 0.5 million early in the season is problem for me. Is he that much better when money is tight.

Really like Burn, Mykilenko, Castagne, Davis, VdV.

    Flekken
    Saliba Gvardiol 4.5 4.5 4.5
    Salah Palmer Foden Gordon 4.5
    Watkins Havertz 4.5

The 2 4.5s further up are a no-no. Watkins to Isak then a 4.5 def to a 4.0 gets you the mill you need to get either CHO or JPedro for 7 decent attackers. Not bad at all.

I think it is a shrewd move going 4.5's defenders plenty of options to move on/off you can always go down to 4.0 if/when required.

Personally, I think that's too much money tied up in defense. That's just me -- insofar as it's hard to find and predict clean sheets, and chasing points from the attacking defenders, while terrific when it happens, is much less predictable than putting those dollars into attack.

If you have a strong view about which defenders will end up top for the year, by all means, I think the stats suggest it's worth it (because the delta is pretty significant from Def-1 or 2 down to Def-8). But you really do need to pick well, and that's hard.

Quite liking the idea of attack the first 3 fixtures, early WC and hopefully minimise early transfers to build up a stock pile. Jump off haaland and spread on WC

    4.5
    Porro Murillo Munoz
    Gordon Salah Diaz CHO
    Isak Rich Haaland

    4.0 Myklenko Winks 4.0

That could be actually be valid strategy. Arsenal has fixture change after gw5 though, so there is big risk of losing some saved transfers soon.

I’m going for the same strategy. How about Robinson instead of Murillo? Fulham and Everton’s fixtures rotate well and he is more attacking

That’s where I’m heading as it stands. Don’t think you need to wildcard though?

Captain choice picks it for me. Not owning Salah GW1 and Haaland GW2 is behind DFS, rather the sofa imo. Two transfers to address if wrong or still ove from there anywhere.

      Sorry Ipswich fans

yea, thinking similar strategy. I will hopefully be able to save transfers first few weeks, then ditch Haaland and get Saka, Palmer etc.

However, I am also not adverse to using all my FT in early weeks, just because everyone else will be trying to save them. So I think there is a good opportunity there.

Have to see how it pans out, if I crack GW1 squad, nice. If not, np transferring.

This 5FTs is smoke and mirrors once we get going. I can guarantee regardless of squad people will react immediately at the start of the season. Perhaps later we can use it to our advantage but not in August/September

The knees will buckle fast with the price changes lol.

Those people are still gonna be hitting like crazy early on, some play purely to get valuable teams.

I think prices are locked in GW2? But if not, there could be a considerable bump in transfers, as a result of some players now believing we have 5 FT each week. I was looking at the twitter replies to the 5 FT post and there was a lot of foreign people who were thinking they now have 5 FT each week.

They will OFC get a warning about hitting, but I still think we are gonna see between 50 -100k people making 5 transfers after GW1 as they are confused.

Although some people wont really care, amongst those numbers, there will be some people like us who spent a long time on fantasy, and if it was me on a -20 GW2, I would be pretty devastated. Those are the people I would feel sorry for. Not the ones who literally just make a team and close it. Language barriers can be a big problem for some people, and that shouldn't really be to their detriment.

its good. Lots of people gonna start with many premium defenders when CS is always rare in first half of the season. Even without the BPS change, this point is true.

I can almost guarantee that Ispwich for example score vs Pool in GW1.

            Bookies odds:
            Liv CS 2.3
            Eve CS 2.4

Burn is 4.5 for example, so I am probably not touching Liv defenders.

Starting with Haaland and sell for GW3.

Plan to sell Harland after GW2 and will upgrade a midfielder.

My strategy is to target fixtures and do a hokey kokey with Haaland and a group of players using the new rolling transfer rules.

      eg. Haaland, Eze and Burn
      out for
      Watson, Palmer and Trent.
