Since the trolls are out and about tonight here's my salah & haaland draft

    Henderson / 4.0
    TAA / Porro / Burn / Myko / Barco
    Salah / Gordon / Bailey / CHO / Winks
    Haaland / Isak / Muniz

Not a massive fan of that midfield, I won't lie, although I think Diaby makes it look worse than it is. Otherwise pretty good. Isak and Muniz seem to be becoming the FFS template Haaland partners up top going by the last few posts.

Diaby has been sold. I think that makes Baileys appeal all the better.

I'm not sure why I saw Diaby there I'll be honest. Ok very much not a fan of two 5.5s and a 4.5 in midfield.

Not sure about Porro. Spurs's defense isn't the best, so I'd suggest upgrading to Gvardiol if you have the funds. Plus Bailey could be another achilles heel, as he was subbed off early a lot last season. Brennan Johnson may be a better pick, if not I'd look at Morgan Rogers.

Plenty to like - personally I think the £1m you save downgrading Porro is worth it to spend on your midfield

    First RMT, thoughts appreciated:

    Leno
    Souttar/Mepham/Lamptey
    Dendoncker/Soucek/Iwobi/Ross the Boss
    Beto/Jackson

    Benda/Noonan/Mings/Pinnock

Might swap Lamptey and Mings, not sure yet.

It seems to be a very unsure bunch this season. Think at the moment the consensus is Henderson at Palace, and possibly the Chelsea keeper once their team clears up a bit, but Flekken is the only one I've seen so far with a 4.0 second choice, so if budget is your aim that might be the way to go.

Flekken and whoever Palace no1 is has a lovely rotation

    5. Big Mike
      • 3 Years

There aren't any that stand out in my opinion. Both Flekken and Jose Sa have awful fixtures in the first 5-6 gameweeks. Chelsea, Forest and Palace all have decent 4.5 options but no-one seems to know for certain which one is going to play. Areola and Neto both have a mediocre defense plus difficult fixtures. That leaves Brighton, who only kept 4 clean sheets last season, and Muric, who plays for a newly promoted team.

My advice would be to stretch to a 5m goalie like Pope or Pickford if you can.

    6. Bob B
      • 12 Years
      1 year, 4 months ago

Palace keeper seems like the standout given their fixtures and defence from last season.

After that, it would be Chelsea's keeper.
      Wouldn't consider any others.

It’s still early, but none of them look good right now due to fixtures or uncertainty of starts.

Right now, I’m leaning towards Pickford - Virginia for 9.0 combined.

He's been in very few of my drafts, funnily enough. I prefer Isak and Havertz because of fixtures and price respectively, and I'm willing to stretch to Haaland (most of the time), so he's landed in a no-man's land in the middle.

Under the radar but I've done some digging.
Despite Wolves having a poor run of fixtures, after Arsenal they face:

Chelsea (H) - conceded 1.95 goals, away - 26th out of 34 (Ranked the 17 remaining teams from last season, home and away)
    Forest (a) - conceded 1.95 goals, at home - 26th out of 34
    Newcastle (H) - conceded 2.11 goals, away - 32nd out of 34

Wolves arguably have a poor attack but they struggled a lot with injuries up front last season.

They were definitely finding their feet towards the end of the season.

Fixtures aren't everything. Teams and players can do well despite tough opposition. I'm currently on Cunha as a differential and the stats suggest he could benefit from the new BPS system.

A poor attack?! Cunha, Neto, Hwang is pretty strong (when they're fit). Go for it if you think the fixtures are better than they appear

According to the stats their attack ranks relatively low, injury setbacks hampered all three of those players.

I forgot to make my point was they if they can hit the ground running, they could be great!

Cunha and Sarabia are sleeper picks!

You just asked us to name premiums. How is Saka too old? Salah and Son both returned over 200 points last season. Not entirely sure what relevance Haaland's 'skill' has to his record-breaking 22/23 season and exceptional though injury-disrupted 23/24 year. Foden, Palmer, Watkins remain talismanic attacking players for some of the best attacking teams in the league (and Chelsea). Worst take I've seen on here.

If Saka's Euro performance persists into the season then he aint no Premium for me. Salah & Son will be worse than their flattering to deceive past season. H was nothing like his 22/23 season last season. Foden, Palmer, Watkins had breakout seasons, which they need to repeat to become Premiums, IMO.

            1. InsertPunHere
              • 3 Years

Feels like it's worth pointing out that every English player played worse for England than their club. Foden is heading into his second season as a near-nailed attacker so I have no worries about him, Watkins has been playing at a similar level for a good few years and been lifted by Emery like the whole club has. Palmer is the only one who I'd say had a proper breakout season, which was good enough to top the points standings for the team that finished sixth and was absolutely essential to their attacking play. Salah and Son we can agree to disagree, I think they both have a few years left. If Salah is impacted it will be by Slot's tactical changes (ditto Palmer under Maresca actually), not a lack of ability.

Foden & Watkins are the only two I have confidence in. Sadly I think the state of Chelsea will affect Palmer more this season than last (I'm a supporter). Salah & Son will have the odd good scoring games but not the consistency of the past, so, in short, I aint spending big money on past glories! Good luck 🙂

Really don't think the Haaland vs no Haaland is that obvious. The first 3 fixtures if you compare predicted points between Haaland and J Pedro (assuming he's fit) it's slightly higher than Watkins and Palmer. Can always start with Haaland and in GW3 onwards take him out if he isn't worth it

Nailed down Palace and Everton as the defences to aim for early on, is it too much of a risk to have double defence for both next to a fifth defender who can start every game?

    e.g.
GW1 - Everton (BHA) - bench Palace (bre)
GW2 - Palace (WHU) - bench Everton (TOT)
GW3 - Everton (BOU) - bench Palace (che)
GW4 - Palace (LEI) - bench Everton (avl)
GW5 - Everton (lei) - bench Palace (MUN)
    ------ WC, if not
GW6 - Everton (CPL) - bench Palace (eve)

How is this Salah/Haaland team, with some big hitters and cheap defense

    Flekken
    Liv Munoz Myk
    Salah Saka CHO Rogers
    Haaland Isak Muniz

    Turner Nkunku Dunk Greaves

Rotating mids and defense until WC4

    1. Salah Watkins
    2. Haaland Gibbs-white (or any other 6.5 mid)

    First RMT. Thoughts?

    Pickford - Virginia
    Guehi - Konsa - Burn - Yoro - 4.0
    Salah - Gordon - Rashford - Bowen - Nkunku
    Haaland - Isak - 4.5

    Rationale:
    - I think defenders are going to be somewhat nerfed by the new scoring system combined with last season’s additional extra time per game
    - United’s D will be much improved over last season (if they can stay fit), and if Yoro starts, he’ll do well
    - If Rashford comes back hungry from the England snub (like two seasons ago), 7.0 will be a steal
    - Nkunku could also be a steal at 6.5
    - At least one of Haaland and Salah is needed for captaincy. Both tend to start the season well, and it’s easier to downgrade them (Salah > Palmer, Haaland > Watkins) than the reverse
    - trying to avoid players who played major minutes at a summer tournament (with the exceptions of Guehi and Pickford)

£11.5m available. Which medium term attacking combo might take your fancy?
(avoiding doubling up from one team)

    a) Hudson-Odoi & Muniz
    b) Andreas & Wood
    c) other £11.5m mid/fwd combo
    d) £7m + fodder, minimal bench.

Having a lot of the same debates as you between A & B.

If we knew Wood was 100% nailed I think he's a fantastic pick but doesn't seem to be the case.

Thought I would try a Haaland and Salah draft. I could save a 1M if I downgraded Livramento and Rogers, what do you think?

    Flekken
    Pau / Munoz / Mykolenko
    Salah / Gordon / Nkunku / Hudson-Odoi
    Isak / Havertz / Haaland

    Valdimarsson | Livramento | Rogers | Barco

Morning everyone. Good to be back. First draft here.

    Sanchez/4.5 (4.0)
Gvardiol Andersen Mykolenko (Faes + Harwood-Bellis)
Saka (C) Foden Nkunku Eze (Winks)
Haaland Isak Darwin (could be Gakpo - whoever I think will start)

    Would appreciate your feedback/thoughts. Cheers!

      Full of potential.

Salah and Palmer are the only Liverpool and Chelsea options for me. Lots of uncertainty about the Liverpool line-up. And Chelsea were shaky last season with Palmer superbly rising above that. Nkunku looks great on paper - cheap and OOP, but has yet to justify a place in my team.

        Thanks Teddy.

I'm uncertain about the new managers for Liverpool and Chelsea. That's why I'm more sold on Saka/Foden than Salah/Palmer at the moment. I can't see the former two getting worse, only better. Especially with the new changes to BPS.

It's not like Salah/Palmer are going to suddenly turn into bad FPL players, but I don't know how they'll fit into the new systems, whether they'll keep pens, or how the new managers are going to fare yet.

So we have Olise's replacement incoming. Ismaila Sarr. Anyone gonna go for him over Eze? Expecting he'll be cheaper.

His returns have dropped significantly while playing for Marseille. So I wouldn't personally start with him, maybe later in the season if he gets going.

He started 15 games and had 7 returns. It's decent for a 8th place team in the French League. Glasner is the reason I'm probably starting with him.

    Easy this

    Salah, Gordon, Bailey, Elanga
    Haaland, Watkins, Isak

one from one team or one from one country will probably make it little bit tricky.
