Definitely A if you are planning on starting Winks. Don't think Spurs defense is worth it.

Think I might have a Salah Haaland team I am OK with - any comments welcome?

    Henderson
    Gvardiol Mũnoz Mykolenko
    Salah Gordon Eze Nkunku
    Haaland Isak Muniz

    Fabianski Rogers Barco Harwood-Bellis

Would be great if affordable but can’t do without moving on one or more of Salah Haaland Gordon Isak.

            This would be possible alternative

            Saka Jota Eze Nkunku

I'd love to have Palmer to start, but am worried that Chelsea will be slow. Foden would be nice too, but have gone with Haaland over Salah and think maybe Foden will not play 90 in the opener.

How important is it to own Saka?

Reason I ask is that the value in Raya/Saliba/Gabriel for PPM can't be made elsewhere as it stands imo. White is incredible vakue as well, but for the start saving a million on Raya is a big saving I think

There's lots of points to be made without Saka I think, but that Arsenal backline is without comparison. Just playing with ideas

Going White and Havertz for now, but could do Son to Saka. I just don't want to triple up on any team for now, but that might turn out to be a mistake...

You can beat Raya's value with Pickford for a start. I would also bet that Saliba can be beat with 2m over base. The other 2 could be great though and don't forget the premium points do cost more so you can have Saka too.

        interesting

        See I did

        Raya to Pickford

        HB to White

        Muniz to Jebbsion

I would argue Pickford and White outscores Raya and Muniz perhaps

Oh yes, Pickford & White win that quite easily in the end. The journey could be interesting though.

I just see a lot of parallels with Liverpool and how good a value was Alisson/Trent/VVD/Robbo were in their pomp (obviously a bit more attacking threat)

But what stopped people was the Salah Captaincy. If Saka isn't much of a captaincy factor then

I'm pretty sure a Saliba and Son outscores a Porro/VVD and Saka (oversimplified example)

      1. David Parkinson
        • 3 Years

Saka will find a way of confounding you and your plans, make no mistake.

    5. F4L

dont really see saliba as good value, without the goal threat. 164 points in a standout season isnt great. A few times he was just nicking 3 bonus, not sure if that will happen this season with Arsenal attackers likely to rack up SOTs and fouls most matches. Raya and Gabriel more appealing if you think Gabriel isnt one to be rotated

and for me Saka is not as good a captaincy option as good as Haaland still 90% of the time, so if thats your reservations with the triple up in defence, wouldn't let it put you off

I’m sure this has been discussed on here several times since it was announced, but do people expect Solanke’s arrival at Spurs to hinder or enhance Son’s prospects?

There’s no clear narrative aside from Son won’t play striker. I don’t see a big impact, personally.

      Enhance.
With proven goalscrer leading the line, opponents will have to focus on him plus Son rather than Son on his own which should translate to more spaces\chances for the South Korean.

Use the 0.5 to either have two rotating keepers and dodge the red fixture or upgrade Winks to Rogers to give a better alternative as an 8th attacker

      Winks to Rogers.

What's the verdict on Solanke vs. Son then?

Having watched every Celtic game under Ange, he really got the best out of Kyogo as a #9 - been nowhere near as prolific since Ange left. Also had Giakoumakis as a backup #9 and got great numbers out of him too, who was really similar to Solanke in build + type of forward.

Would expect him to do the same with Solanke. That being said wingers in his system like Abada & Jota racked up impressive numbers too. 7.5m seems much better value than spending 10m on Son, especially if Solanke takes pens.

    1. theplayer
      • 12 Years

I honestly can't see Son giving up pens. Reckon it will still be him on them.

Doesn't seem like the kinda guy to grab the ball first. Reckon it'll be up to Ange to pick and he might want his new big money striker gaining confidence. Plus Son played in a team where the #9 (Kane) took every penalty for years - didn't bother him then.

Sonny is the captain, but no ego, just wants what’s best for the team, he’ll step aside for pens if asked.

      • 10 Years
      1 year, 3 months ago

comes down to pens. dont care Spurs only got 2 or whatever last season, that was an anomaly. They'll likely get 4-6 this season and thats a 20 point+ swing in either direction.

Ideally Son keeps pens, can make a case for both then.

New quotes from Ange, for anyone worried about Solanke starting straight away.

"I have always felt that if you get the recruitment right then whoever it is hits the ground running. We signed Micky van de Ven three days before the first game last year, against Brentford, and we threw him straight in. He literally hit the ground running.
We are trying to identify players who fit into our style of football. There will be a bit of adjustment but hopefully they will already have those qualities to come into the group and contribute straight away. That is my expectation when we sign someone - they will be ready to contribute from the moment they arrive."

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think Haaland + Salah is just too expensive. The number of sacrifices that need to be made across the rest of the team just doesn't seem worth it. If any of the other premium mids start hitting form (Palmer, Saka, Son), they'll be virtually impossible to get into the side without immediately ditching Salah.

In previous seasons, I've seen a lot more focus on targeting the price points to better support moving players in and out. Seems a lot more difficult this time round.

Starting with Salah & Haaland should make it easier to pivot to Son / Palmer / Saka.

If you spread the monies then you would probably have to wildcard

If Saka, Foden, Palmer were all guaranteed to start then I would happily go without Salah / Haaland.

I don’t see Saka & Foden starting GW1. If Haaland hauls vs Chelsea he then plays Ipswich. Could be a car crash if Haaland hits the ground running

      1. Left Peg
        • 12 Years
        1 year, 3 months ago

I get that but with Liverpool's fixtures you'd have to be brave to take Salah out! I think Saka has a decent chance of starting GW1. He's got 45 mins under his belt already, so we'll see how many he gets tomorrow. I agree that Foden won't be near the starting 11 and Palmer probably only has an outside chance.

I think that's part of the issue though. A lot of sacrifices need to be made in order to make it work. If one changes their mind, it could take a lot of transfers to better redistribute the funds again.

There are some good enablers like Rogers & Muniz to facilitate both quite easily and still enable a nice 10 mid if you can stomach a light defence until WC. Most teams won't be up to speed until after 1st IB so you can hit the ground running.

I thought ‘Ray’ Gunn’s interpretive Elaine Bennis performance was outstanding!

Ok, I think I’m there, not sure there’s anywhere I can make any major improvements - anything I’m missing? Yeah, the defence is average and Quansah needs his place, but….

    Pickford
    Andersen Mykolenko Quansah
    Smith Rowe, Salah, Eze, Odegaard
    Haaland, Isak, Muniz

    4m, Nkunku, Barco, Faes

Hedge the Fulham funds with Forest, either Wood or CHO. Odegaard feels like coverage and you don't bench a guy like Nkunku, he's also on pens when Palmer is off the park. 6/10

Yeah, but he’s also against City, when Odegaard, who scores an average of double Nkunku’s points, is against Wolves….

Let’s try again…! What do we think?

Gone cheap in defence but gives me 7 top attacking players!

    Areola
    Porro | Konsa | Burn
    Son | Bowen | Gordon | Jota
    Watkins | Haaland | Havertz

    Turner | Emerson | Harwood-Bellis | Winks

Are either Nkunku or Brennan Johnson nailed long term? Or who is more nailed? I’m talking after gw 2 or so

Nkunku more nailed IF he stays healthy.

I dont see much watkins here. But overall he has very high ownership. I think he is underpriced. Should be around 10-11 mark

Lacks Arsenal players, midfield is a bit risky, but still like the look of this

    Henderson
    Gvardiol Porro Muñoz
    Salah Jota Murphy Bobb
    Haaland Isak Solanke

    Lumley Rogers Robinson Barco

Gakpo will win the war of the left-wingers thanks to his Dutch boss and the Euros but timing will be key here.

Still undecided on which three and appreciate some advise:

    A) Son/ Bobb / Porro
    B) Eze / Gordon / Saliba

I have J Murphy as one of my other MF.

    Thk you
