Prime FPL would be blanks for Solanke, Porro and Son, and a 2-goal Vardy party...

Leicester boss Steve Cooper speaking on Monday Night Football:

"Straight forward in the end, it's well documented that he's been injured and so has Pato [Daka]. We didn't have a striker. He said he feels good, he was a little bit uncomfortable that we didn't have a fit striker and he made himself available. You have to trust his judgement."

Lmfao! Steve Cooper is well and truly back!

    ---

"LEICESTER | Steve Cooper confirmed that Vardy and Daka are both out of GW1. The former is close to a return but Daka will be out for 'months'.

Conor Coady (hamstring) is also sidelined."

Vardy a great differential for anyone who has him. Remember when he was 10.0 forward.

saw your answer re Havertz. I think the main handicap with the re-classification is the lost of 5 pp goal and lack if clean sheet points

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years
          1 year, 3 months ago

That's when the issue is the player's points

Havertz got most of his points playing up top. Havertz isn't being picked because he had a full season and scored 180 points, with FPL managers expecting him to score 180 points again after losing the extra goal and CS point

Havertz is a good asset right now, among other options at 8.0 in the game, because of his goal and assist output. Any striker in the game right now would score more points if they became mids... But among the strikers we have available to pick from, Havertz is a title contender's striker who gets goals and assists by being heavily involved in their attacks

If Haaland was a midfielder, he'd have smashed right through 300 points on his debut season. But that's not what makes him a great asset. It's the 4 points for goals, 3 points for assists, bonus points, and how often they'll come

          1. Ser Davos
            • 10 Years
            1 year, 3 months ago

            I agree

There's no getting away from the endless list of failed forwards who were once mids. I'm very much now thinking that Havertz could overcome that even with a bit of poo lolloped in

Havertz is bucking that trend atm

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years
              1 year, 3 months ago

That's the point where I said a 90% correlation is still just a correlation

Since the only change is in FPL, a game which has almost no influence on player/team performances, any trends noticed based on rule changes in the game remains purely correlation to me

Deeper dives into the data will find the real reasons each of those reclassified forwards failed. I'm sure of that

Soucek and Smallbone worth a shout. The former will chip in with goals I reckon, and the latter is on set pieces and will snag assists here and there. Both nailed by the looks of things unlike some of the other 5m options.

FPL were so slow in changing Solanke, so I thought I’d build a BB team with 4 Spurs.

        Flekken
        Porro / VDV / Murillo
        Son(c) / Gordon / Jota / LDiaz
        Isak / Solanke / Wood

        Sels / Gabriel / Saliba / Saka

I’m a bit stuck with who to play next GW though…

I'm also currently benching Gabriel and Saliba (for Hall and Robinson). I don't think I would bench them for VDV and Murillo though, despite their good fixures. perhaps it comes down to personal preference, as I did pick my players, after all, and you picked yours, haha!

I have to get something off my chest, I think the sense of community here is very poor. I was pressed for time on Friday before deadline because I had to set up a childrens bouncy castle party and I needed some help with my team but the pages were moving too quickly and everyone was ignoring me, someone even mocked me. I'd decided on a few players but needed help with the others, now my season is over and I might make a new team for GW2.

I agree with the first part. But it doesn't seem right to blame the people here for your team doing poorly, and you're not entitled to help any more than anyone else who supposedly "needed" it, especially when the pages are moving so fast, as you say. Blame the system. People have given up, here, relative to how it used to be, and it never used to be a utopia.

Tip for using the site: come here when you don't expect much activity. Pages are a lot slower then, and you're likely to run into more of the regulars who enjoy the community itself

I don't agree with your season being over due to GW1 picks though. No price changes have happened yet, so the best team to start the season is currently still fully affordable to you on a GW2 wildcard

Whether you asked for help and didn’t get it, or whatever other lame excuses you try to come up with, if your team didn’t do well, it’s nobody’s fault but your own. You had plenty of time to set your team up beforehand so trying to blame someone else for not giving you the information you asked for , when it’s readily available if you put the time in, is your fault, and your fault alone. Grow up.

Deadline time is a bit of problem in that sense, yeah. When a whole page of new posts go up in the time it takes to answer one, it is difficult to maintain a conversation let alone a sense of community.

Looking at (one of) your questions though, I would suggest that you'd be expected to pick more than 3/15 players in a "fill in the blanks" question - that leaves a lot of work for respondents and wouldn't really be your team.

More generally, I think the more interesting and in-depth discussions take place here on weekdays. You would definitely stand a better chance of getting answers - perhaps even an essay from Ze Austin 😉 - and would hopefully get a better sense of the regular contributors to the community here.

It's not perfect, and I appreciate your honesty, but would encourage you to give it another try and see how different it is outside of deadline / match times

It'll take a lot of digging to find it, but I vaguely remember Pep heaping this much praise on him a season or two ago... Then Walker started almost all games when back to full fitness instead

I think it delayed me from getting Walker for that run, or something

Here's the thing with Pep: praising a player doesn't make him a regular starter. He's done this to Foden, Mahrez, and a few more I won't remember now

      Heck, didn't he praise Palmer?

I'll consider Lewis when I see Walker starting Cup games while Lewis starts the EPL and UCL games

        Yes true
Maybe good short term and if Saudi rumours get stronger for Walker then who knows

If you're asking the question, then he's a trap.
Better to play it safe than to cut corners, just look at Quansah and Barco.

The Scout had some other players predicted to start but Leicester shows up today with a remarkable squad.
Full of internationals and players with Premier League experience, I don’t expect them to struggle as much this year.

Does Son's goal threat diminish with Solanke in the team?
He seemed to do ok with Kane in the side.

Should be goal threat down and assists up but Son could even get more goals if Solanke presses hard like he normally does and keep the defenders focus on him

Yup. Nailed last season. Delayed return due to Euros. Came off the bench for the injured newbie, lasted the whole of the second half

Not sure who Pep will start ahead of Foden here, and I don't see why either

We're unlikely to get a leak for a 3 pm kickoff though

There's always a chance Pep could revert to his old ways when Foden was benched.
I just don't see it happening on this occasion, and it only looks more likely with Alvarez out and Savinho/Rodri injured.
