How is it I can afford Havertz over Wissa by having Robbo over Trent in the Palmer draft? Did he not have any of the players that have risen in price?

Just back from Totton v Basingstoke. Good game in a spicey atmosphere. 2-2. Charlie Austin scored the first.

Fwiw I wasn't judging and I'm not interested in the players he has so far analyzed.

I was commenting on the the in-depthness of the analysis .. Can't verify how accurate it is or where it will lead, but looks 'too' professional for an fpl post. Have I been asleep and we moved up a notch? 😉

I'm going to monitor him for a while
Would need to find another £4.0m defender to replace HB
      Next 3 fixtures are good
But gw's 7-15 not so good (4 red rated fixtures)
If he's still £4.5m by gw16 , showing good form & Southampton getting clean sheets
Gameweek 16 would be a good time to bring him in (11 -2/3 rated fixtures)

Gone for something a bit different for my WC draft and gone double double defence, will carry 3 FTs into GW4, what do we think?

    Starting XI:

    • GK: Raya
    • DEF: Robertson, Saliba, Alexander-Arnold
    • MID: Semenyo, Mitoma, Smith Rowe, Salah [Vice-Captain]
    • FWD: Haaland [Captain], João Pedro, Havertz

    Bench:

    • GK: Fabianski
    • DEF: Greaves, Taylor
    • MID: Winks

Sort of a moot point though in isolation, isn’t it. You can pick on every player’s ownership % in any team and if the FPL manager knows what they’re doing, the ownership of each of their players will likely already be above 25%.

I’m talking specifically about the combination, what percentage of players have picked a double double defence? I bet it’s low, but my sense is you are deliberately missing my point as I notice you’ve failed to address it on two occasions.

If it makes you feel better to stick to the argumentation of “you picked a template team and claim it’s different but it’s obviously not” then I’m happy for you. Thanks for contributing.

I just find it a very interesting example of group think. If you took ANY combo of 4 players the combined ownership would be very low.

For what’s it worth I think this a very strong draft, it’s just not different (or at least if this is different ANY draft is different by extension).

I asked that ChatGPT shorten the post by 95%, we should have AI auto-cutting comments these days

Diabetics Beware: Yukinari Sugawara (4.5m DEF, Southampton, 0.2% ownership)

Sugawara is a potential differential at 0.2% ownership. His minutes have increased each game (45, 71, and 90 mins), and he’s playing more attacking positions (RM/RW), unlike Ait-Nouri, who has minutes and rotation concerns. Sugawara has shown promise, taking 1/7 corners and a direct free kick against Brentford.

Southampton’s defense, historically poor, has improved with Ramsdale in goal, and their upcoming fixtures look good for rotation, making Sugawara an intriguing option with high upside at 4.5m. Despite concerns, he offers potential returns, with 4 goals and 7 assists in Eredivisie last season.

Key Takeaway: Sugawara is a strong offensive pick at 4.5m, though rotation may be needed for tough fixtures.

This question is obviously team dependent, but let's work with your and the template'ish team

          Do you consider a gw4 wc sub-optimal/less effective than a gw6 WC?

The only difference between the windows (IMO) is how many 10m+ players you want, prices are moving, if you want 3 your really should be going now, by the time 6 comes, you probably won’t be able to afford more than 2 without too many sacrifices.

You can gauge this by so many of the big accounts who want to go in 6 pushing the unworkable Hokey Cokey between Saka & Salah, they’ve already resigned themselves to 2 premiums while everyone going now is beavering away fitting in 3 or Haaland, Salah, Saka & Palmer while most of them are still close to their starting price.

I say it’s unworkable because those selling Saka for Salah is doing so because they think Salah will score a load of points, no one sells a bang in form Salah, it’s unworkable.

Saka scored home and away against Spurs last season, historically he scores against all the big teams in the big games.

The narrative that ‘red’’ fixs are bad for him is wrong, ironically these same ‘pundits’ are telling you to pick Mbuemo on a WC who has the same 2 fixs as Saka but in a different order.

Any changes to make to this team?

    1FT, 1.5 ITB

    Onana
    Munoz - Porro - Robinson
    ESR - Salah - Kamada - Semenyo - Jota
    Haaland - Isak

    Wood, Davis, Nedel, Valdimarsson

Kamada is a risk for me. With the IB and some new players now available to Glasner, he may be at risk of benching.
I'm on WC and replaced Kamada with Semenyo (who you already have) maybe Onana or Adama might be worth a shout?

Jota and Diaz aren’t that great a pick as they were before the CL starts.

I’d be more worried about Diaz as he seems to get subbed earlier than the other 2. And can’t see Gakpo playing the Jota role.

But valid point. I’d also not be too upset with 30 min cameos from either particularly Jota who has good points to mins ratio.

starting to think its the CL games Gakpo and Darwin will be getting more minutes. Until the new year the league is more competitive, if City are going to go 90+ again can't risk not playing first XI if you don't want to drop costly points

I saw so many Digne and konsas in drafts I had to look at fixtures.

On paper I get it but resisting as champs league rotation and tiredness is going to see them concede chances.

Thinking Martinez might be a way in for me as someone that went Pickford

Yea not sure what is inspiring them, the zero CS so far, or the fact that they even conceded to Leicester? I mean yes they have nice fixtures, but to ignore the writing on the wall is peculiar.

One Villa defender is too much IMO as there are far better options. Martinez, may be acceptable, but only for good fixtures.

Fair point, but the reason we have Robinson was not only his fixtures, but his attacking returns. And so far, thats 2 assists and some BAPS. If you look at Konsa, the most popular pick, 5 points in total in 3 games, is frankly horrendous.

People are blind sighted by fixtures I think.

Not sure why anyone is getting Brighton defenders either, but the content creators like them.

I have had Robinson since GW1, I was horrified to see his attacking stats when he is in our team for his attacking threat (because we know Fulham won’t CS)

I fail to see how anyone can praise Robinson as a pick (for the reasons I just mention) while looking down on Villa picks.

Yea corruption by FPL towers, nothing unusual. They always do shady stuff with highly only players, they own themselves. for example, rigging price changes, giving imaginary assists and BAPs and so on.

There are literally dozens of similar occasions where they have done blatantly shady stuff over the years. You have a 6 next to your name and you're not aware of this?

FPL towers, the people who control the game.

Solanke is the perfect example of their manipulation. No other player has been locked due to injury. But the highly owned Solanke which all the content creators recommended, including FPL scout.

They don't want casuals to lose interest in the game so early on and lose faith in the scout and the CC's that they have close relationships with.

Unless your defensive subs are from Arsenal, City or Liverpool, you’re gambling on very little.because most teams don’t clean sheet a lot.

So you might miss out on a point here or there

Point is, in real football, managers have 5 subs to use, how many times did your second sub come into play since the 5 rule became a thing?

Beside the premium players, don't you bench your players based on fixtures difficulty? Or for example Pedro is playing for Brazil and may reach very late and might play few minutes in next match. Or can have a injury which we don't know till match day. In that case a good bench comes handy, and what ever happened in previous years, this year it gonna get worse. It your premium players don't play you need to have decent cover, not the 4.0 guys IMO.

For as long as I’ve played the game, I don’t know many who have had fully functioning benches to rotate, they’ve always been a stripped down but playable with al the money on the pitch.

The implementation of the 5 sub rule killed the need to stack the bench even further.

This is an open question, how many times has your second sub come into play since the 5 sub rule became a thing?

I get why people may have a bit more if they want to rotate and save transfers (at the cost for their main 11) but for rotation proposes, I don’t get it, 5 subs killed the risk.

2nd sub auto sub in is kinda rare, but wildcarding this early with very thin bench feels me with anxiety. On this note what do you think of this wildcard draft.

                    Allison
                    Lewis Dunk Robinson
                    Salah Palmer Eze Semenyo
                    Halland Havertz Pedro

                    Fabianski Winks Greaves Bednarek

I like it, my set up is very similar but I have a cheap forward instead of Haaland and Trent in defence.

You can get a thin playable bench this year, it’s a good season for that.

Probably makes more sense to go for the cheaper option in this case, biggest concern should be if Pep decides to give him no games at all, these he’s a sell, if it’s rotation you’re worried about, stay away from City defender completely.

Logically that makes sense, attractive cheap route into the City def but like you say it may not be worth the worry

Or it might be worth the worry, he’s more than capable in the PL, he could easily play in the PL & Walker in the CL.

That was my hope with him playing the inverted role but on WC it could be a risky move

It’s the least risky move on a WC because you can prepare for a what if or build in a rotation option for when you feel he may sit it out

That’s excellent for a non Haaland team.

If Pedro doesn't play or starts on bench coming back late you have 1 playing forward
