Need feedback on my team, are my funds spread too much? Does slowly working Haaland back into this team make any sense? Appreciate any thoughts. Now that the schedule isn't so crazy I'm not enjoying the benching headache.

    Raya Fab
    Gabriel TAA Munoz Hall VdB
    Salah Diaz Palmer Mbuemo Rogers
    Isak Wood Mateta

If you "slowly" work haaland back into your team you'll have him in time for CHE, ars, NEW, LIV, tot, forest.

Only spurs looks a good fixture for a striker and they might have their main defenders back by then.

If you want haaland, you want him now. I've got haaland and I'm saving up transfers to seel him in gw24 and spread funds

One of mine funniest memories of 1985 was going to a seance with friends, organised by a particularly fetching girl at mine school, possibly a witch in hindsight. We had prepared for the seance by drinking a few coldies, t’was summer after all. When she said ‘give us a sign’ there was deathly silence for ten seconds before a mate of mine let rip with a loud and long fart! Boy we laughed!

Despite being a year of great joy for the world (Nintendo was released outside of Japan), 1985 was also a year of great sadness and an earthquake in Mexico City killed 45,000 and Nevado del Ruiz erupted killing 23,000. This is a true example of the rough with the smooth. A fine year!

Some early thoughts about my team and maybe doing bench boost this gw?

    Raya (Flekken)
    Gabriel, Hall, Munoz (Konsa, Robinson)
    Salah, Palmer, Gordon, Sarr (ESR)
    Isak, Jackson, Pedro

Have 1 FT and initial thought is doing ESR -> Amad, especially if doing bench boost.

Maybe take a hit and get rid of Flekken also?

Good time to use BB and just get it out of the way or wait for a better gw?

One of the biggest recent mistakes was getting Pickford over Sels...Anyway, thoughts on the below? I'm really tempted to get rid of Jackson.

    Pickford
    Gabriel/Munoz/Hall
    Salah/Palmer/Bruno/Sarr
    Isak/Jackson/Wood

    Fab/Rogers/Timber/Greaves

    (c) between Bruno, Palmer and Isak.

With the fixtures of Raul/Mateta/Gakpo/Jesus, or even Wissa’s capabilities, it’s really tough to trust him

I’d sell for a cheap forward that you won’t play that often (for example) as the starting 11 you have posted is good and then use the money to upgrade Sarr to Gordon or Mbeumo if reaches that far. Alternatively Jackson to Mateta (not my cup of tea but he is picking up in popularity and has the fixtures) or Gakpo (punt on decent fixtures and a DGW).

Just looking at the Salah captain as seen its a close one.
Wolves had plenty chances to score yesterday, if they had Cunha playing they would of scored.
Newcastle put 3 past them at the city ground.

    Rogers, Palmer, Salah, Gordon, I.Sarr

Can't believe I'm asking this, but would you bench Gabriel or Trent?

Neither doing much recently with any consistency. Both conceding every week, so it's attaching returns.

Trent plays forest, which in theory is harder to get an attacking return, but I would fancy Liverpool to score given their form

    1. The Big Fella
      • 9 Years
      11 months, 2 days ago

If you have defenders that cost that much, you have to play them. If you’re going to bench them, over cheaper options, then you should just sell them as that means you don’t trust them

      1. x.jim.x
        • 11 Years
        11 months, 2 days ago

Never got that logic - you'd play Gvardiol at Anfield over Castagne at home to Everton just because of the price?

        1. The Big Fella
          • 9 Years
          11 months, 2 days ago

Yeah I actually would - he is 6m for a reason. A defender that costs that much is expected to get either a clean sheet and/or attacking return at a reasonable rate of probability. Obviously City have collapsed this season but last season I had Gvardiol for quite a lot of the second half of the season and played him every game, regardless of opposition. This season I won’t touch City at all until I see an upturn in form. The 4.5-5m defenders are running riot.

But price is based on the start of the season not their form?

Would you have benched Palmer over a 6.0 defender last season because he was cheap?

            1. The Big Fella
              • 9 Years
              11 months, 2 days ago

So if their form is so bad at 6-7m for a defender that you are not confident enough to play them in the games they should be relishing playing in, you need to sell them, like I’ve done with City assets. This is my original response.

Agree on City defence. Just think the game is about getting the most points and that may mean playing a 7M player for a fixture where they get 15 and benching for one where they get 2.

                1. The Big Fella
                  • 9 Years
                  11 months, 2 days ago

But if he was 7m at the start of the game because he was expected to be getting a return every couple of games and/or a clean sheet and you now think he won’t get these returns because his form hasn’t met the start-of-the-season expectations to the point where you’re benching him for a player 2-2.5m cheaper, surely it is best to sell him and use the cash elsewhere?

Yeah I was wondering this too but I also think he needs to look like he supports him (see interview after) and may give him another game and then say he’s played a lot recently and okay Bradley and say he’s played too well and deserves not to be dropped or something

I think most Liverpool fans (the ones I'm mates with anyway) want to see him benched, so I don't think there's much incentive to put on airs. It's clear his head's not in at the minute, and he's going on a free so there's no value to protect, so might as well play someone who's shown he's more than capable of stepping up.

Hopefully they sell him this month so they get some cash out of him. No point sticking with him for the sake of it if he’s putting in rubbish performances and falling out with the team in the dressing room after matches when they’re pushing for the quadruple. Then Bradley gets a shot and some game time.

Definitely wouldn't bench Gabriel, have you seen Spurs' defence?

Tony would you do Marti to Mbeumo for this gw?

For me, Mbeumo is a good long term pick and I don't have any issues playing him against City and Liverpool.

I'm not a huge fan of the Martinelli pick in general. He's not great on the RW due to being right footed and likely to run down the line rather than cutting inside. We have long term data on Martinelli on the LW and I'm just not convinced. Arsenal left side attacking dynamics aren't great with Calafiori and Merino/Rice and his record against Spurs isn't particularly great either.

With no left footed attacker to play RW to cut inside, it'll be interesting to see who Arteta plays there in the next 2 cup games.

Doesn't seem like you are WCing to get ahead of the curve, potentially losing the advantage of the WC imo

Sure but I'm not seeing much difference between this WC draft and template non WC team.

For example, you have two Liverpool/Everton players for the potential double. You'll need to use FTs to load up on Liverpool/Everton rather than rolling FTs for BGW29 and future GWs.

Some potential chip plans and how many FTs rolling into WC20 would give more info for suggestions on the WC draft.

    Flekken | Valdi
    Gabriel | Munoz | Botman | N.Williams | Greaves
    Salah | Palmer | Mbeumo | Amad | Murphy
    Haaland | Isak | Pedro

Worth to WC to this, bringing in:

    Haaland for Jesus
    Amad for D.Luiz
    Murphy for Gordon
    Munoz for TAA
    Botman for Dalot
    N.Williams for RAN
    Flekken for Sanchez

After bad week ( 48 points falling from 6K to 21K) anything you would change (.2 m in bank) or roll 3rd transfer? Jackson probably to Wood in 22 if blanks again

    Alisson
    Trent Gabriel Mũnoz
    Salah Palmer Gordon Sarr
    Isak Jackson Jesus

    Fabianski Rogers Castagne Mykolenko

Giving Jackson the old one-game-to-save-yourself ultimatum against Bournemouth doesn't seem like a great idea to me tbh (if it were Wolves next, maybe). The following fixtures are much better & I'm still surprised that people treat Bournemouth this way after only 4 goals conceded in their last 7.

For more context, has the fixtures been against strong attacks in those last 7 league games? Extend the sample size to 10 games and they've conceded additional 7 goals including 2 against Wolves

          Ok how about this then...

          Defensive record v top 6 this season = 5 GC in 6 = joint 1st with Arsenal.

I think we both know it's not a fixture to target with your attackers, or expect the 'fixtures breed form' adage to apply to

Been cheap at the back all season, doesn’t work every season but certainly is this year. I’ve been rotating Rogers and Pedro which has worked well but will be selling Rogers this week for Gordon so yeah will rotate Wood and Pedro from now on which looks lovely on paper.
