Yea. I haven't been that engaged with fantasy recently. Gave me something to think about at least.

Yes AM chip is lovely for the game

The added bonus is that no one really knows where the stand with it and the results so far. And it does put the emphasis on 3 GWs over 1. So that's probably a small win for FPL towers, if they wanted to increase activity.

Ultimately, there is too much spoon feeding in this game. AM makes people have to think a bit more, especially when its plonked in their lap at short notice. Anything that makes this game harder is a positive IMO.

It’s funny to me when highly engaged players say things are too hard because something unexpected happens. Like, ah, doesn’t that work in your favour?

I guess there’s a difference between engaged in the sense of consuming content and wanted to be told what to do, versus engaged in the sense of analysing content but making your own decisions.

But some of us are old and tired and it is difficult. We love new stuff but hark back to the old days. Posting transfers, going to the Newsagent to see the man of the match! Great days. Plus we didn't lock our doors, kids ate dirt, people died in cars, minorities suffered abuse, little understanding of mental health...wait! x

                Haha fair

FWIW I don’t like AM because it’s too far departed from the rest of the game.

I’d rather they did stuff like fixed the positions (front 3 wingers like Salah should be forwards, and then you pick more forwards and less midfielders in your squad), or adding some additional scoring complexity but simplifying price changes instead

Agree with all you say (as always!). The format is tired, but their attempt to refresh it (like the ridiculous AM!!!) are just plain silly. But its all about £ so i get it!

    An interesting stat about Pickford:

Under Dyche: 1 save every 27 mins
Under Moyes: 1 save every 52 mins

Not good for us Pickford owners imo

      Under Dyche : 0 assists
      Under Moyes: 1 assists

More seriously, I dunno - having to make half the saves might increase CS.

True. Just don’t expect huge hauls unless he keeps it going with the assists

I think only Liverpool and Notts Forest have more clean sheets than Everton.

Everton are doing badly, but pretty good CS wise (especially now since new manager and all that).

Does anyone else have an oddly strong squad for next GW?

I’ve no idea who to bench here, right now I’ve got it as:

    Sels
    TAA* - Gabriel - Huijsen
    Kluivert - Palmer - Salah - Mbuemo
    Wissa - Gakpo - Isak
    _______________________________
    Fabianski: Rogers: Aina: Lewis

Bit annoying having to bench Rogers (IPS) and Aina (FUL)

But that more or less correct in your opinion?
    Cheers guys.

    1. SalahFingers
      • 8 Years
      1 year, 19 hours ago

Yeah it's a tough call but you can't bench Huijsen and Kluivert against Southampton.

You can't bench liverpools if they have a double (but even a single I wouldn't)

But then your bench.. Rogers at home to Ispwich.. ouch.

Aina is very tough to bench. He's the best defender in the game at the moment (points wise). I benched him this week and missed out on his points.

It's almost good if TAA gets injured because you can just pop in Aina and all seems right.

I'm benching Gordon, Hall, and Ndiaye next week. At least the Newcastle players have a tough game (sort of.. man city away is still tough even if man city are having a nightmare season)

        1. RICICLE

Agreed, I’d still be benching Hall if I had him. Likewise Gordon, and safe to bench Ndiaye.

Absolutely, be criminal to bench Huijsen or Kluivert, same for Poop like ya say.
Really don’t like benching Rogers. By far my biggest troll so will probably bag a brace haha!
Can’t even BB as I’m playing AM.
I shouldn’t hope for a TAA injury to keep him out but like you point out, it would make my decision a hell of a lot easier! 🙂

Similar, and that's before I think about bringing someone like Watkins in. I am just going to play the best fixtures. Which might mean Mateta bench and Isak>Watkins.

      Team is:
      Alisson
      Munoz - Virgil - Kerkez
      Salah - Palmer - Mbeumo - Kluivert - Rogers
      Wood - Isak/Watkins

      Vald, Mateta, Robinson, Hall

Such a pain isn’t it! I like the prospect of bringing Watkins in as well.
I think what you have there is the correct line up, I toyed with benching Isak for Rogers but it was an immediate “nope” haha!!

I am struggling with that benched attacker. All of them have pens but Rogers, but Rogers has Ipswich. Wood is in my thoughts too, he obviously hauled this week, but he does have a tricky Fulham away game.

It is a tricker situation with benching an attacker for sure, it has to be between Mateta and Wood, preferably Mateta imo, tbh e form wood is in, gutted I sold him for Gakpo this GW!

      Hi Ricicle,

I would advise waiting until a couple of days before (FRIDAY 14/02/25)
GW25 is schedule to start also the FA Cup 4th round next Weekend so
two weeks before GW25 schedule to start.

      ----

A Nice squad but I would advise will need to wait to see how
rumours of a GW25 DGW occurring & whom to decide on final
starting Eleven - you might find Am or another chip being
selected with FT to cover additional games.

GW29 - BGW due to League Cup Final

Games original schedule for that weekend the finalist games
being brought forward to GW25 but thus Blank for these teams
      in GW29

GW24 - last fixtures for GW on Wed 12/02/25 Everton v Liverpool

      ---
      League Cup Semi Final
      Liverpool (0) v Tottenham Hotspurs (1) (Wed 05/02/25)
      Newcastle United (2) v Arsenal (0) (Thu 06/02/25)

GW29 fixtures for these two teams
      Semi Final 1
      Liverpool v Aston Villa
      Tottenham Hotspurs v Fulham
      ----
      Semi Final 2
      Arsenal v Chelsea
      Newcastle United v Crystal Palace

      ---
GW25 Possible DGW to my understanding at the moment but I'll wait and see

      Liverpool win Semi Final(WOL (H) / AVL (A))
thus also Aston Villa play (IPS (H) / LIV (H))
      ---
Tottenham Hotspur win Semi Final then (MUN (H)/ FUL (A))
thus also Fulham play (NOT (H) / TOT (A))
      --
If Arsenal win Semi Final (LEI (A) / CHE (B))
thus also Chelsea play (BHA (A) / ARS (A))
      ---
If Newcastle United win Semi Final (MAN (H) / CRY (H))
thus also Crystal Palace play (EVE (H))/ NEW (A))
      ---

Cheers BT! Very useful post there, I’ll definitely be holding fire for now regardless, my next transfer would be simply to switch AM manager anyways, but a lot to take place between now and next GW for sure, all a lot of “if’s” at the moment isn’t it, definitely need to wait and see the lay of the land first, cheers buddy!

          You're welcome Ricicle.

I have stopped myself doing usual rushing in after hearing Saturday about GW25 being
a DGW. I will watch today/tomorrows game with interest but will have a pause on the site
until after FA Cup 4th round & Everton v Liverpool game completed.

I decided to punt on AM (Moyes) over the TC Salah mainly as knowing I could not manage my
team with any other chips during this period & thinking of a way to catch-up within my mini-league.

I'm hoping to have a couple of FT from GW26 /GW27 GW28 & GW29 to offset BGW but will work
out my options once I know whose playing the League cup final & how it also impacts GW25 - exciting
          balancing act.

How are you doing OR this season

Yeah it’s gonna be very hard to bench rogers if they double, Wissa or Isak may get injured and make the decision for me, but damn….having to bench Wissa against WHU will be tough. I’d rather bench Isak between the two haha!

Forest's freak result has torpedoed a lot of triple captain and assistant manager chips. If you were unlucky enough to sell Wood and not play their defenders it's finished your season.

No way. Its one haul. Other people got hatti's and its fine. The defence didn't hurt that much for me as a non-owner, it just basically cancelled out wood's return and made me a tiny green.

So if liverpool beat Everton, that's 12 points for Moyes but a likely transfer booked in to switch.

Pickford ends on like 11/12 too

But one less transfer needed, could just activate as man depending on efl cup results.

I was trying to say yesterday a few times here that switching from TC to AM Moyes didn’t make a lot of sense. Got a lot of “but 5 fixtures”. Except the 5th fixture is next GW, and you’ve foregone what you previously thought was the best TC opp plus booked in a transfer that might’ve been used on a DGW player instead. On the flipside I expect a lot of gloating if Moyes gets even a draw versus Liverpool, but I still think the process was bad.

Also we don’t know who exactly had the DGW next week. You may need to save your FTs to pack the team. + Moyes didn’t get the 5 table place bonus v Leicester

TC roughly the same as AM, so you must be dropping points elsewhere.

How many left to play ?

I would have thought (with TC or AM) most must have 8-9 players left. If you are at the higher end of that you may make up a bit

TC Salah here, 85 points and green. It'll also be a matter of where you are in the OR. Or how many players took the field for you.

Used my BB, got 99 & got quite a nice green so far, Sa, Myko, Tarkowski all coming good.

Don’t know why more didn’t consider it tbf, those Everton defenders can be hidden on the bench now until the end of the season & the TC is there to use fir Salah next week if he has Wolves & Villa, people on the AM are blocked from that now.

BB was my plan up until the late news of DGW25. AM chip could take advantage of both dgw hence the switch.

AM 83 pts with nine to play.+2FT GW25
BB 91 pts with 10 to play +1FT.GW25

But AM this week blocks a chip for this week or next.

AM this week is an extra 5 games
AM next week is an extra 4 games plus one chip that can be used this week.

There was 1 game extra in it which was offset by the ability to use another chip in a DGW.

Each to their own but didn’t understand the mass surge to the AM because of GW25 that seemed to come from big online accounts, I’d argue that Salah H to Wolves & then maybe Villa (who are conceding) is a fantastic TC opportunity (if you don’t AM next week)

Yeah sure, for you (& well played) was on about the general consensus, seemed odd that the AM was pushed so heavily, it was ultimately writing off the use of a chip in what seems like a season with lesser DGW to use them in.

I had planned to do Moyes myself before 25 got announced, that changed it which is why the sudden surge to it was surprising.

I'm not really following CC or consensus, woke up late to the news of guaranteed DGW25 and thought it was logical for me to hope Slot gets double-double. I don't disagree with your points - had I TC available then BB24 TC25 (or later) would make sense to me too.

Did Hurzeler refuse to speak to MOTD?

I am typing this whilst listening to the news where someone on Trumps team is speaking, so this game is irrelevant. Who cares if you sold Wood or didn't TC Salah, when there are fascists in charge of the World! Very sad, but wait, when is the transfer deadline tonight...?

You throwing in your job to do humanitarian work in South Sudan? I know what you mean but we’ll all be here regardless of what is happening in the political climate - means of escape from it!

Don’t think anyone knows at this point, not even slot, so will just have to keep an eye out on the news / pressers

It's a fortnight away. Ask again in 10 days or so. No point even looking at your team until the 12th.

Who would you say is the best Bournemouth option to replace Gordon.

    A. Danjo
    B. Kluivert

    Thanks

How Kluivert didn’t score that was very annoying, as a fantasy owner and Arsenal fan.

      B though.

    Penalties:

I can't see why Mo Salah [or any other non-forward] gets more points for converting a penalty than Chris Wood [or any other forward]

The task they face is equally difficult, it's taken from the same spot, and their playing position on the field is completely irrelevant to the task in hand and their chance of getting a penalty kick.

Next season penalty goals should earn 4 points only, regardless of who scores them?

Which AM looks the better choice to activate in GW 25 if Liverpool gets a double GW?

      Still slot imo

      Villa - Leicester(H) and Liverpoo(H)
      Liverpool - Wolves(H) and Villa(A)

You'd expect both to win their first game, so it comes down to whether you think Villa can get a win or draw vs Liverpool.
A Villa 2-1 win means Emery outscores Slot by 17 points in that fixture.
A draw would mean Emery outscores Slot by 5 points.
A Liverpool 2-1 win means Slot outscores Emery by 7 points.

Emery allows you to have 3 Liverpool players, while Slot only 2.

Thanks a lot for your help! And seems like Villa’s fixtures are better than Liverpool’s the 2 GWs following DGW 25
