Gameweek 30 comes to a close this evening at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur gets underway at 20:00 BST.

For the hosts, it is a chance to move into the top four, while Spurs are desperate for a win, with just three in their last 13 league matches.

Chelsea are bolstered by the return of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson.

Those two are among four changes made by Enzo Maresca, who has also brought in Trevoh Chalobah and Malo Gusto.

Wesley Fofana misses out, while Benoit Badiashile, Reece James and Christopher Nkunku drop to the bench.

Noni Madueke is also named among the substitutes.

Ange Postecoglou, meanwhile, makes five changes from the side that lost 2-0 to Fulham prior to the international break.

Micky van de Ven, Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison, Wilson Odobert and Son Heung-min come in for Ben Davies, Yves Bissouma, Archie Gray, Brennan Johnson and Mathys Tel.

LINE-UPS

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Gusto, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella, Caicedo, Enzo, Neto, Palmer, Sancho, Jackson

Subs: Jorgensen, Tosin, Badiashile, Acheampong, James, Dewsbury-Hall, Madueke, George, Nkunku

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Vicario, Spence, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie, Bergvall, Bentancur, Odobert, Maddison, Son, Solanke

Subs: Kinsky, Porro, Davies, Gray, Bissouma, Sarr, Moore, Johnson, Tel

Previous Spurs vs Chelsea games under Ange have ended 4-1, 2-0 and 4-3, all in Chelsea's favour. Hopeful of a Palmer haul here, Jackson back in the side will help him.

Roll the dice with Wood and Isak or shift either/both for a -4/-8? Current team:

    Verbruggen
    Munoz | Ait-Nouri | Kilman | Livramento
    Salah (c) | Mbeumo | Saka | Hudson-Odoi
    Marmoush | Isak

    Pickford, Wood, Dibling, Castagne

Yes, but I think the threshold is higher.

Well, he wanted Connor Gallgher but Levy wouldnt pay the wages...same with Eze...same with Neto.. and loads of others. I get the club is run well, it allows the directors to get the highest wage in the PL so its all good.

Got one of the best starting XIs in the league on paper, but no Conor Gallagher is the reason they’re closer to the Championship than the Champions League

A bit harsh they've had half the 1st team missing most of the season and a poor bench to deal with it. I'm not a spurs fan or an ange fan but when he didnt have all the injuries they finished 5th in the league.

Gallagher would take spurs to PL and CL glory and you know it.

Nah. The squad is so weak IMO. Son is past it and a bad cap. We have no winners, no leaders, just a bunch of lost players with no direction. Unlike most Spurs fans however, I don't blame Levy.

Spurs fans love namedropping Maddison, Solanke, Son, Vicario, Porro, Romero, Udogie, Van de Ven, etc into “best in the league” conversations though

Yea, they are on some good drugs I think. There are some good players there, but they need work. Our defence should be wait better then it is, we can say injuries are to blame, but even when injuries weren't an issue, Spurs were still bad at the back. We went from one extreme to the other tbh, boring and defensive football to attacking football with no defence. We need a Manager inbetween.

I will take Poch back because I think he will improve us, but he wont win anything.

I think it's how rigid the teams are set up, the tactical fouling and lack of freedom for flair players. Spend about 20 minutes watching players wrestling before a corner comes in. Don't know if a goal is actually a goal because of VAR.

        1. RICICLE
          • 3 Years

Yep fully agree here, it’s all just so congested into possession football now, no freedom, and hardly any decent link up play and attack, not climactic at all
