The Gameweek 32 press conferences are off to a low-key start, with only four taking place on Thursday.

Among them, though, was Nuno Espirito Santo’s presser. The Nottingham Forest boss had updates to bring us on Chris Wood (£7.0m) and Anthony Elanga (£5.5m), not that they’re of much use…

The headline team news from Nuno’s media gathering and the other three are in the article below.

For the early injury situation at the other 16 Premier League clubs, read this summary here.

GAMEWEEK 32 TEAM NEWS: THURSDAY’S INJURY UPDATES

GAMEWEEK 32 TEAM NEWS: THURSDAY’S PRESS CONFERENCE TIMES

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

No prizes for guessing Nuno’s response to a reporter’s question about Chris Wood (hip), Taiwo Awoniyi (hamstring) or Anthony Elanga (unknown).

“We are still assessing all of them. They are struggling with problems – some small, some not so small – but we have to assess them. We have one more day and then we’ll see if they can be available for the game.

“On all of them [I am hopeful]. It can be all of them, it can be none. We don’t know. It depends on how they recover and how they feel. It’s about that.” – Nuno Espirito Santo on Messrs Wood, Elanga and Awoniyi

Nuno seemed to be talking about Wood and Awoniyi’s absence in the present tense in a follow-up quote but we’re clutching at straws for clues.

“We miss when the players are not available, we missed all of them. Of course, Chris has been giving us so many things. Unfortunately, at the same time happened the situation with T [Awoniyi]. If that hadn’t happened, I think we would have been more balanced. Now we have the absence of two strikers, it is more of a difficulty to prepare it.” – Nuno Espirito Santo

Ola Aina (calf) remains out – but he could be back for Gameweek 33, according to a quote from the Nottingham Post.

Alex Moreno is available again, having been ineligible to face his parent club last weekend.

BRENTFORD

Thomas Frank says Gustavo Nunes (back), Igor Thiago (knee) and Aaron Hickey (hamstring) are “going in the right direction” as they work their way back from long-term absences.

Nunes and Hickey started for the under-21s over a week ago, with the former the closest to a return. Thiago is behind those two.

Josh Dasilva (knee) and Fabio Carvalho (shoulder) remain out but the Bees have no fresh worries.

“There is no new injury news. Everyone who was available for Chelsea is available again, so that’s positive.

“The three guys who are getting closer – Hickey, Thiago and Gustavo – are progressing and going in the right direction. Gustavo is the closest of the three. Let’s see.” – Thomas Frank

SOUTHAMPTON

Interim Southampton boss Simon Rusk says that his side have “a fairly clean bill of health” going into Gameweek 32.

Charlie Taylor (hip) is on the injury list, while Flynn Downes serves the final match of a two-match ban.

Albert Gronbaek has been absent for the last two matches with tendon issues, so it’s not known whether Rusk’s positive update includes him.

“We’ve got a fairly clean bill of health at the minute. There’s one or two – Charlie Taylor’s knocking about with one or two issues – but other than that we’ve got a fairly clean bill of health going into this game.” – Simon Rusk

Paul Onuachu (ankle) was reduced to substitute duty in Gameweek 31 but did feature in the closing stages.

“Paul’s trained and is in and around it, there’s still one or two we’re assessing and ongoing and Paul is one of them, but we’re hoping there that the signs are good.” – Simon Rusk

LEICESTER CITY

Wout Faes is a doubt with a “small injury” that has kept him out of training.

“We have Wout Faes who has picked up a small injury. He couldn’t train today so we’ll have a look tomorrow. Of course, it’s short towards the game, but that’s the only one.” – Ruud van Nistelrooy

Abdul Fatawu (knee), who is out for the season, is the only other known injury-related absentee for the Foxes.

Loanee Facundo Buonanotte can’t be involved against his parent club this weekend, however, while Harry Winks has been omitted from the matchday squad in recent weeks amid reports of a disagreement with Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Leicester boss says Ricardo Pereira could be ready to start after a couple of recent substitute appearances.

“He has been out a lot, but he always looks after himself very well, but we want to do the right thing with him and build him up the right way but it’s definitely possible that he can start.

“It’s a great option of course. That’s the big advantage that you can play with two wingers on the side and that is great. You see when he came on in the second half [against Newcastle] and we started with Stephy [Mavididi] and Facundo [Buonanotte] on the sides that’s definitely something to build on.

“The game was over, but we showed some positives. Jeremy [Monga] also came on as a winger and Ricky can fulfil that role really well. He got us playing out from the back and he is such a positive influence in getting us out of this run.” – Ruud van Nistelrooy on Ricardo Pereira

Best non-Arsenal defender for GW33 onwards? Will likely sit on bench except DGW BB

    Current backline:
    Raya, Verbruggen
    Gvardiol, Munoz, Kerkez, Milenkovic

So my plan for a while has been the below. I could switch to a BB33 but I dont love the fixtures with Villa and Arsenals CL fixture so close. TC isnt obvious though.

So this is just for these two DGWs. Do I?
    1) TAA -> Liva -4
    2) TAA -> Gvardiol -4
    3) Play -> Kurkez FUL / Saliba BRE

    Plan
GW33 TC - Saka (could be Isak 32 or even Marmoush 33 or even Saka GW38)
    GW34 WC
    GW36 BB

    Verb
    Saliba - Munoz - Kurkez
    Salah - J.Murphy (vc) - Palmer - Sarr
    Marmoush - Mateta - Isak (c)

    Fab* - HarwoodB - *TAA* - Mbuemo

Yeah I think that’s going to take a bit of work as have New/NFO/Brighton. Would mean a -4 for a hot bench

FH in 34 stays in place

Tricky one as more injuries pile up as the weeks go by

Wait for the presser I guess but won’t learn much from Arteta

Mine is Raya, Gvardiol, Saka and Cucurella, and i'm transferring out Saka so i can continue to use my BB.

It's OK to admit we got it wrong. The Madrid result surprised me, and now puts Saka's minutes at risk in 32, 33, 35, and 36, as well as the 34 blank.

My BB33 is no way near as appealing as my BB32 option, so it's not as easy as just moving it along one week.

Yeah considered same mate but who to swap him for?

Also figured they will still need mins in Prem to be sharp for CL so expected them to start and then sub early maybe. Figured with defensive issues Timber would have to play and White could go back to CB. Couldn’t see Kiwor playing all games

So Foden has been a bust, who do I replace him with given I already have 3 NEW & CPL? I'll likely need them this this GW to cover Saka.

    A) Rogers
    B) Malen/Rashford/Asensio
    C) Savinho
    D) Someone else

    Afternoon all,

I think i've decided to NOT bench boost this week therefore my dilemma is whether to start Asensio or Saka - which do you prefer? This is assuming Gordon is fit.

    Current team:

    Martinez
    Saliba / Munoz / Burn
    Saka / Gordon/ Sarr / Salah
    Mateta / Marmoush / Isak

    Ederson / Asensio / Gvardiol / Dorgu

    1. Conners

I think I'd start Asensio on the assumption that Saka is benched.

Rogers yes, Saka no. Therefore I will transfer out Saka in order to play my BB. 20 mins isn't enough, and there'll be reduced minutes v Ipswich in 33 I'd imagine.

Who scores more in DGW32 and GW34 only?

    A) Livramento
    B) Trippier

I'm 56% in favour of Trippier at the moment. Mostly because he does better in the bonus. Partly because he's shown himself capable of hauls in the past. And very partly because he might get rested after 60 mins, securing him a clean sheet before it's wiped.

On that last point, however, the Newcastle games are Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday.... what are the chances Trippier gets benched for one of the first two (MUN, CPL)? I think the only backup is Krafth? It's not going to happen is it?

I opted for Trippier on the WC. A share of set-pieces gives you more routes to points, and his BAP magnetism came into it too.

Thoughts on this WC team (BB next week, then FH week after):
    Martinez (Areola)
    Munoz, Gvardiol, Livra, (Timber, Dorgu)
    Salah, Palmer, JMurphy, Malen, Sarr
    Isak, Mateta (Marmoush)

Will have 8 doublers next GW (will move Palmer to Saka), with Areola against SOU, Dorgu against Wolves

Would you play Neco Williams over Gvardiol?

    1. Triple Free Bench Hit Boost

Would depend if I am chasing a mini-league lead or defending one... it seems more risk to double up.
Overall, I'd fancy Gvardiol for the cleaner sheet points but Neco was bombing forward in the last game and if he plays like that again would fancy him more to get an attacking point.

I'm not really in any mini leagues. Up to 44k so I guess I'd like to not crash and burn!

So you can play 2 of Forest, Arsenal, and City.

I'd play a Forest for sure, and then i would choose City over Arsenal. Arsenal could be knackered (physically and emotionally) after Tuesday night, may be second string, and Brentford are probably better at scoring goals than Palace are?

So that means Sels and Gvardiol, rather than Raya and Williams.

I dont have any real knowledge here but thinking about it logically I think they'll all go to 37 except if Villa make the final and then it maybe cant as they face Spurs in 37 and theres the europa final midweek of 37. moving games to 36 creates congestion before the cup final which I'm sure all will be keen to avoid and also it creates a big gap before 38 for the FA Cup finalists opponents (from 37)

      There isn't one.

      Lewis-Skelly is a midfielder.
Kiwior might get replaced by White or Timber.
Timber might get replaced by White.

Arteta will want his first choice fresh for Madrid, so might not play any of his regulars.

I would say Kiwior. FBs more likely to be rotated, in general, with Timber able to come over to the left to rest MLS and allow White to play on the right. Or Zinchenko and Tierney are available LBs, leaving Timber to be rotated with White or even Partey if necessary (albeit unlikely at this point), with Jorginho or Rice able to fill in in the #6.

I don't see Arteta u necessarily moving Saliba to the right side of the CB pairing, and Kiwior is the only natural left-sided CB. I think Arteta has shown that he like the left-right-footed pairing in the past, but that's just a feeling I have and can't back it up. As far as I can remember, there's no precedent for White to play LCB for Arsenal or to pair with Saliba in any combination, though it's not impossible that he takes some minutes from him (leaving the LCB position open for Kiwior).

On top of this, Kiwior has been more than adequate when he's played at CB so far. Plus he was more than adequate when he played LB earlier in the season, so Arteta probably thinks he's an adequate presence on that side in either position, and he is also therefore a candidate to take MLS's place at LB in the unlikely scenario (IMO) that White and Saliba do play together, along with all the other candidates mentioned above.

      Still, he is not nailed.

Calafiori (left footed) back in team training today and may be favoured over Kiwior at LCB

    Who would you play out of the following;

    1) Foden (crap form)
    2) Gvardiol (better but a defender)
    3) Timber (rotation?)

Seem to have a strong bench this week - am benching Saka as IMO he is definitiely rested

A lot on here seem fairly certain he doesn't start, but I'm not sure how they can be so certain. I think it's a 50:50 to be honest.
