Several capable options are in the captaincy conversation for Double Gameweek 33 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Arsenal and Manchester City lead the way, with favourable ‘doubles’ for both big-ticket sides. Assets from Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Liverpool represent the differential and alternative selection.

As usual, Captain Sensible highlights which assets have the best chance of delivering a big haul.

First, we will assess the fallout of the captain poll before analysing the player and team statisticsRate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 BST deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Captain Gameweek 33

Omar Marmoush (£7.6m) has deputised as Man City’s leading marksman with aplomb in the absence of a certain injury-stricken Norwegian.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt speedster arrived from the Bundesliga with a burgeoning reputation – but inward transfers from Germany often suffer from a level of performance tax.

Four attacking returns in as many starts for the Egyptian signifies a forward in red-hot form. Marmoush rammed home the equaliser in Man City’s eventual 5-2 comeback thrashing of Crystal Palace.

He’s backed by around 39% of our voters.

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka (£10.5m) put aside concerns about his domestic gametime with a heroic display in a famous 2-1 win for Arsenal over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Arsenal’s ‘starboy’ exorcised the demons of a first-half missed penalty by dinking the Gunners in front after the break.

From a captaincy perspective, it was a confidence-boosting performance. Since his return to the Premier League fray in early April, Saka has been restricted to three successive cameos for Arteta’s side.

However, concerns about his expected minutes have been momentarily forgotten, with Arsenal’s best player backed by over 28% of our voters.

Kevin De Bruyne (£9.3m) is in third place with 8.9% of the vote, closely followed by ‘single Gameweeker’ Mohamed Salah (£13.8m).

Was surprised no author on FFS bigged up Barnes, he's been brilliant for me. But am now pondering his security of starts with Gordon in the wings (although his performances are brilliant). Any Newcastle fans able to clue me in on whether Barnes has nailed a starting slot going forwards?

I did in the differentials column ahead of GW30, but I'm still annoyed I didn't bring him into my own team, so fair play for that!

I'm not a Newcastle fan but he feels undroppable right now.

Had him as my top midfielder in the GW32 Scout Squad but with the caveat that Murphy was the saner, safer choice for the medium term (which is still the case). The positive update on Gordon from Tindall last week was an obvious deterrent.

When Barnes is on the pitch, he's got a phenomenal rate of goals/assists. Has been the case for years. It's just getting him on the pitch! Had he had a stinker against United on Sunday, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Gordon come in against Palace. He didn't, and now Barnes probably has got enough credit in the bank that the position is his for the next few games. Keep performing, and that'll roll on.

Spot on. For me the doubts about Barnes have always been about his tracking back. Arguably he hasn't had to do that much with recent opponents. It's great to have competition for places in the team and options off the bench.

Barnes is probably first choice LW based on his form, same goes with Murphy at RW.

With Gordon available, we could see Murphy getting subbed early again

Gordon will either give Barnes or Murphy a breather ... He can't sub on for both. Arguably he is more likely to replace the left sided player

Is KDB really worth what he's being bigged up to be? Another of these situations where historic form is creating a blindness to recent middling performances?

I've gone for him given I had Savinho, who's even more of a minutes risk now that he was when I picked him in GW30. (Missed game due to fitness? Bobb back, Foden around - albeit could affect him too.)

Additional -4 to what I had planned but I feel if I don't buy him now, I won't do it any other time. (May well make that 4 points back.) He's also not the easiest for others to get either. Last outings at City for Kev.

Do you want those FT options beyond 34? FT are limited and using them up to field 11 in 34 could hinder your ability to attack the final GW including a possible double in 36

    A) Bowen
    B) KDB

KDB has a double this week but Bowen will play in bgw34, so maybe he is a better option? I would try not to use my FH chip in gw34 (9 or 10 players in gw34 would be enough) and save it for the last dgw in 36or37 week. Opinions?
