Nottingham Forest got back to winning ways on Monday, thanks to first half goals from Elliot Anderson (£5.0m) and Chris Wood (£6.9m).

The Tricky Trees 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur is the next Gameweek 33 match to get the Scout Notes treatment.

WHY ELANGA WAS SUBBED OFF

In-form Anthony Elanga (£5.4m) started this match and looked dangerous in the first half.

Playing through the middle with license to roam, he provided the assist for Wood’s goal, so it came as a bit of a surprise to see him substituted at the break.

The switch involved a tactical reshuffle.

With Forest more than happy to back themselves defensively, Morato (£4.5m) was sent on, as Nuno Espirito Santo moved to a back five formation.

“We were controlling the game but Tottenham were having lots of crosses and space in the wide areas, so it [half time change] was about having an extra man and squeezing a bit more. You have one less man to press in midfield but you then have one more in the box.” – Nuno Espirito Santo

WOOD ENDS GOAL DROUGHT

Chris Wood ended his drought in north London, notching his 19th Premier League goal of the season and his first since Gameweek 25.

It was the Kiwi forwards’ only shot of the match, but he did impress with his overall centre-forward play, and prior to this goal, had another effort ruled out by VAR.

Forest’s game plan hardly helped, with the Tricky Trees happy to defend deep and soak up the pressure.

In fact, Nuno’s entire team were restricted to just four shots and 0.64 expected goals (xG) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Still, it was a positive night for Wood, who was withdrawn on 75 minutes, surely with one eye on Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

SPURS DEFENCE BODES WELL FOR LIVERPOOL IN GAMEWEEK 34

As for Tottenham, to say they’ve got defensive issues would be an understatement.

Spurs supporters booed the team off at half-time on Monday, having allowed Forest to build a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Guglielmo Vicario (£4.8m), who made a string of errors at Molineux in Gameweek 32, really ought to have done better with both goals, as well as the one that was ruled out.

Cristian Romero (£4.9m) and Micky van de Ven (£4.5m), meanwhile, struggled to deal with long balls.

“Another disappointing loss. A loss that for large parts was self-inflicted. We conceded two poor goals and gave ourselves a mountain to climb. It’s hurt us all year, we’ve let ourselves down. It’s a game we should have won tonight and it’s another one this year. There shouldn’t have been a slow start.” – Ange Postecoglou

“It’s the finer details… concentration, focus, understanding the threats the opposition have.” – Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham face Liverpool at Anfield next, in what could be the match that confirms the Reds as champions.

And with an important UEFA Europa League semi-final against FK Bodo/Glimt to follow just a few days later, owners of Liverpool attackers will have been licking their lips watching this.

“It is a bit of a balancing act. We have got to be ready for Thursday week, that is the big game for us. We have to have all of our players healthy and in good condition.” – Ange Postecoglou

RICHARLISON THREAT

Tottenham did at least improve after conceding twice, with Mathys Tel (£5.8m) and Wilson Odobert (£5.3m) dangerous down the flanks.

They finally got the breakthrough when Richarlison (£6.8m), who started in place of Dominic Solanke (£7.3m) up front, glanced Pedro Porro’s (£5.3m) cross into the far corner beyond the impressive Matz Sels (£5.1m).

Richarlison racked up seven shots in the box in Gameweek 33, including three big chances.

Above: Richarlison’s shot map v Nottingham Forest

Porro, meanwhile, whipped in 23 (!) crosses and created seven chances for his team-mates.

There were other opportunities, too, with Dejan Kulusevski (£6.2m) having a header cleared off the line.

Spurs had nothing to show for it, however, even if on another day, Forest could easily have conceded two or three.

Finally, Postecoglou confirmed that Romero and van de Ven’s half-time changes were pre-planned.

“I thought they needed to play some minutes tonight because it becomes 10 days leading into Liverpool. With both of them we’ve got them in a really good place physically now and I just want to keep them ticking over. I felt that there was no need to play more than 45 minutes today and we need to get a couple of others game time.

“I just felt that if it was Sunday we probably wouldn’t have played them, but on a Monday, especially for Micky because he’s been playing just one game a week, we need to build him up because he’s in a really good place at the moment so I thought 45 minutes for both of them would be beneficial.” – Ange Postecoglou on his pre-planned half-time changes

Got a bit lucky for a change although AM chip on Glasner has turned a bit sour. Hopefully one or a draw would be OK.

Palace want a solid defensive performance going ton FA Cup Semi Final. As Villa play the high line it is the main chance we got, like Man City did, before KDB went Banana's

Anyway I am WC 35 as i decided to Bring in Bowen and VVD, instead of Arsenal and Saka, we will see how it works out.

I doubt my WC will have many Liverpool or Arsenal and (hopefully) roll until GW38, and BB36 anyway witht he fixtures looking better that week whether it is a double or not. Everton and Forest rotate well too.

    (Raya, Fabs)
    Huijsen, VVD Livramento (Munoz Gvardiol)
    Bowen Mbeumo Salah Murphy Klievert
    Isak (Mateta Marmoush)

Probably go Cunha or Gapko punt, from Marmoush (got Mateta GW21), just i case I change my mind; money isnt really a problem anymore

Is it worth geting a Wolves/Allison keeper for a -4 or just play without?

    Cheers all

Play without, or maybe Allison. I can’t see wolves keeper getting many saves. Allison might get a few against spurs but might also concede.

It’s risking 4 points to maybe get 6. Net gain of 2 points not worth it

When he's got a CS this season, he has scored more than 6 points more often than he's scored 6

I think getting a keeper or not is a toiss of a coin. Too unpredictable, and the potential returns and losses are minimal anyway. I think I would take a -4 for Allison so that I had an extra person to support. His PPM is 4.3 this season, so that's in his favour, but the Spurs can could be one of those games where Spurs show up or there's unexpected chaos, so you might also lose a couple points from it, you never know.

Goood to go but Kerkez against United split between 2 bilbao games might be worth playing, maybe over Williams?!

Cheers, but if I'm not mistaken, the Bournemouth game is on Sunday, then United's next game is the first Bilbao game on Thursday, so could be a fairly 'strong' XI for United against Bournemouth

True but they will be in bilbao Thursday night then playing in Bournemouth less than 72 hours later so it’ll be hard for them to do well

Prefer Kerkez to Williams. Brentford are off for 12 days, Forest 3 days after FA Cup semi 🙂

What is your WC 35 team like?

      Pickford (Sels)
      Milenkovic, O'Brien, Munoz, Gvardiol, (xxx)
Mbeumo Rogers, Bowen, Elanga, KDB, Sarr, Rashford, Salah, Kliuvert??? cant decide. Dont know who will double (if at all)
Wissa Isak Wood (Evanilson, Mateta if he isn't psycologically broken this year).

Still have a BB left. Everton away to Fulham isnt great, but isnt bad either.

Hypothetically if the 37 games did get moved out of 37 for the FA Cup finalists and their opponents how badly impacted might you be? I'm looking at it now and its probably not going to be a massive issue navigating that potentoal blank as it stands because of the unattractiveness of the potential finalists opponents in 37 for FPL purposes more than anything - Spurs, West Ham, Wolves, Bournemouth. And I think that certainty of no blank for players like Mbeumo and Wissa vs Cunha and Bowen for example if you are chipless and low on free transfers by 37 is quite signiificant.

GW37 was the edge I saw in not FH'ing 34. If I had committed to a FH34 plan, I would likely have had 3x City and 2x Villa players for this week (GW33).

If the FA Cup final is the favored Villa - City one and both games get moved into GW36. People would have 5 players doubling in GW36, and then are forced to sell Villa and City players just to field XI in 37.

Whereas, if I save the FH for 36, I could bring in like 10 DGW players in 36, and then only have 2 City players in my actual XI who I could easily bench in 37. That would then set me up with more transfers to attack GW38 as well.

This is what I'm hoping for. I think I gain more fixtures doing it this way rather than buying Villa players in GW33 for NEW mcy and then needing to ship them out in 37.

      Guardiola 35-37.

If City blanks in 37 then transfer to someone else depending on what's going on at the time.

Yeah really hoping on that dgw or we have probably made a mess of it. I'll just go for 3 x table bonus if so and hope I get lucky. I pray they get rid next season

In the FPL draft game, the fixture difficulty rating for a team playing against Leicester is now 1, a kind of dark green.
    Is this new?

I have 8 players and 2 FT for next BGW. Who is best to get rid of here?

    Sels 4.0
    Konate Aina [Gvardiol Kiwior Munoz]
    Salah Mbeumo Kluivert [Saka Rogers]
    Isak Wood [Marmoush]

Who to get rid of? I assume Munoz. I can't tell with the others. I'm hoping Aina is fit. Maybe it's best to run with 9 and keep the transfer for later.

The only two players in my team to blank this gw (including the bench) were Marmoush and Saka (my c and vc), which feels pretty crazy. That amounts to 80 points, which is a pretty underwhelming score for a free hit team in a dgw, but oh well...
