Arsenal v Palace team news: Saka, Sarr + Mateta benched

Wednesday’s match at the Emirates Stadium rounds off Gameweek 33, but there are some notable names on substitute duty this evening.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace gets underway at 20:00 BST.

Bukayo Saka, who picked up a knock in Sunday’s win over Ipswich Town, is on the bench.

Mikel Arteta has made four changes in total.

Ben White and Mikel Merino are not in the matchday squad, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is named among the substitutes alongside Saka.

In come Jurrien Timber, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Thomas Partey and Raheem Sterling.

Oliver Glasner has also decided to freshen up his starting XI.

He makes four alterations too, with Jefferson Lerma, Daichi Kamada, Justin Devenny and Eddie Nketiah replacing the suspended Chris Richards and benched Will Hughes, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

If Palace win tonight, it would mean Liverpool clinch the Premier League title.

    people who went Howe, Howe, Arteta did well, but they also lost out on points from having a third player from these teams.

    For me it would have meant not having livramento and then kiwior this week. The AM still gets more points but the points difference ends up being around 20 overall

      Same for me.

      My (now) league leader will have overturned a 50 point lead on me this week, mainly thanks to Mbuemo and Kiwior's 15 -20 points tonight, and all my players being benched

      A lesson I have learnt over the years is that when you have a decision between a non-core defender and a non-core cheaper defender of the same time, where both play - more often that not, just get the cheaper defender 😆

      Core = Exceptions like Trent, Gabriel (Cancelo etc in yester-season).

      But tbf I usually get it wrong either way I go!

      Saka is not the move this week as he's just back from a big injury and is more needed for the UCL games, he'll be managed heavily for EPL games where there's viable options in his position.

    This as a DGW was always a fraud, a contrived DGW. The 2 games (tonight and last night) have only been brought forward a few days and in reality GW 34 should have started last night, and that would have eliminated the ridiculous amount of choping and changing, using/wasting chips. The 10 games of GW34 are being played in sequence, just spread over a few more days then normal.

    3 of the 4 teams have a Cup semi-final this weekend so that was always going to be a factor in their team selection and Arsenal have a CL semi next week.

        In most cases, the DGW is because of a game postponed and having to be played a few weeks later. No issue with that, but I don't recall a scenario such as this happening before.
