With the first international break of the 2025/26 season finally behind us, it’s time to finalise our Scout Picks.

We considered the Scout Squad submissions made by Neale (Editor), Tom (Deputy Editor), Sam (General Manager) and Marc (Staff Writer) before coming up with our final team.

As ever, there are certain restrictions for our picks:

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GAMEWEEK 4 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

3m team news:

Due to the lack of convincing £4.5m goalkeepers on offer in Gameweek 4, we’ve opted for Nick Pope (£5.0m) as Newcastle United prepare to host Wolverhampton Wanderers. Pope has already picked up 18 points this season, aided by two clean sheets in three matches. During this period, Newcastle have conceded only 1.58 expected goals (xG), which is the lowest tally in the league. As for Wolves, Vitor Pereira’s men are the only top-flight team yet to pick up a point this season. They will also be without Jorgen Strand Larsen (£6.4m) for the trip to St James’ Park.

    Bit of a rushed wildcard, currently on:

    Cucu VVD Munoz VdV Gudmundsson
    Semenyo Gakpo Enzo Reijnders KDH
    Haaland Gyok Mateta

    Enough cash ITB to get Saka in for Gakpo/Semenyo (or Enzo and downgrade one of the big defenders) in GW7, and would also see Isak coming in for Mateta with another midfield downgrade. Midfield looks pretty poor but Gakpo aside have good security of minutes and I could see the 3 forwards going mad soon and I like the defence.

    Any thoughts?

      Top team. I have similar defence and went the other way and got Raya and Cucurella but might just do Pope and Gabriel instead of them both.
      I would look at Andersen instead of Rodon as he has good fixtures and due a goal

    Surprised to see that the Scout Squad panel all agree clearly to captain Salah over Haaland. I think it’s a very difficult choice to make between them.
    What do you think, and why?

      Difficult choice, I agree.

      Salah hasn't shown much so far but this is his easiest fixture, so far, home vs the team with the worst xGC.

      Haaland has the best xG, only played once vs Manchester United last season and blanked. Great form, shoots more/central positions, but a bit ineffective so far. "Due"

        I banned myself from owning either this season so I have no skin in this but for me its Salah by miles. Its a local Derby minus some of your most creative players and Man Utd actually defended well against them and got the win at the Etihad vs a promoted team. Absolute no brainer its Salah if you have both
