Antoine Semenyo (£7.8m) scored twice and provided an assist as Bournemouth came from behind to beat Fulham on Friday.

Here are our Scout Notes from a wet and windy Vitality Stadium.

SEMENYO “THE DIFFERENCE”

Antoine Semenyo delivered yet another fine performance on Friday, en route to a remarkable 18-point Fantasy haul.

The Bournemouth winger scored two late goals and provided the assist for substitute Justin Kluivert’s (£7.0m) strike, propelling him to first place in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points standings:

Semenyo has never struggled with shot volume; however, this season, he is taking shots from much better locations and, importantly, with greater accuracy.

Indeed, his shot conversion rate has risen to 35.3%, compared to just 8.8% in 2024/25.

“I think I just slow down things in my head. In previous seasons I’ve always hit the ball too quickly and smashed it without any accuracy. In the off-season I’ve been working on being calm and collected, and placing it in the corner.” – Antoine Semenyo

“Semenyo is in a very good spot, he is improving every season. Now he is a player that is making the difference.” – Andoni Iraola on Antoine Semenyo

The performances of Semenyo, who now has six goals and three assists in seven matches, have been key to Bournemouth’s excellent start.

The Cherries are now up to second in the table, having taken 10 points from home fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Fulham.

They do have some tricky away trips to come after the international break, however:

“We have difficult games after the international break, we play Palace away, Manchester City away, Aston Villa away. It doesn’t get easier but it is good to arrive with a good number of points. I hope we take a breath which the players deserve and we go again.” – Andoni Iraola

WHY SENESI WAS SUBBED OFF

Gameweek 7’s most-bought defender, Marcos Senesi (£4.9m), blanked at the Vitality Stadium, as he was substituted off after 77 minutes.

At the time of his departure, the Bournemouth centre-half had recorded only seven defensive contributions (DefCons), three below the required number for extra points.

But what was the reason for his substitution?

With Bournemouth trailing 1-0, Andoni Iraola shuffled his pack and opted for a more offensive strategy by replacing Senesi with winger Ben Gannon-Doak (£4.9m).

Just seven minutes later, the Cherries found themselves 2-1 up.

“When you are losing, you have to try to change the game. We had to take risks and put on more offensive players and it worked.” – Andoni Iraola

Elsewhere, £4.0m defender James Hill was recalled to Iraola’s starting XI in place of Alex Jimenez (£4.5m). Subbed on the hour mark, he even banked four clean sheet points.

KING ‘OOP’

You have to feel for Fulham, who were undone by two exceptional goals from Semenyo and Kluivert.

In a match that seemed destined to be easily forgotten, Ryan Sessegnon (£5.4m) had previously put the Cottagers ahead when he ran onto a through ball from substitute Samuel Chukwueze (£5.4m) to score.

However, Fulham had to play without a recognised striker on the south coast, prompting Marco Silva to deploy a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Josh King (£4.5m) playing as a false nine within a fluid front three:

King once again looked comfortable on the ball until he was substituted on 66 minutes, yet the system seemed to be a work in progress.

On the lack of a recognised striker in his line-up, Marco Silva said:

“It’s a completely different scenario for us and it is not ideal at all. The team that we have been building the last three or four seasons with a certain way to play, the number nine has certain types of characteristics. To be without both [Jimenez and Muniz] has never happened before. We try to take the reference from the central defenders and play with a more versatile front line, a more mobile front line.” – Marco Silva

As for Joachim Andersen (£4.5m), he banked DefCon points for the sixth match in a row.

Sasa Lukic (£5.0m), meanwhile, had to be subbed off in the first half due to a suspected muscle injury.

Same, bench scores range from 6 to 19 points. But the lower scores had an injured player like palmer or some other no shows. Hoping to get at least 20 if things go to plan, which they rarely do.

      (1) at Crystal Palace - Not a great fixture to haul, CP will be favored, but I would expect BOU to score a goal. CP has given few goals but near bottom in Big Chances Conceded.
      (2) NFO Sucks now - they have Ange Disease and that can mean Relegation. Bad defense these days.
      (3) at MCI - 90% chance BOU will lose and probably few shots on goal. But BOU put two on Liverpool.
      (4) at Villa - They suck, 3rd worse in xG conceded.

Could be 4 blanks, but could be returning on 1/2 the games, so that's a good rate of return.

I think Semenyo is going to crush many folks this week. He should be owned, but many folks got excited to snag Kudud, Sleze, GlasSaka, and Foden. The influencers had to pump new names in videos.

Now if those guys snag Braces, then it will even out for them.

Ben Crellin got Foden but he had the evil luck to snag 15 pure differential points with Stach.

From here out, Semenyo is a permanent starter on 90% of active teams.

    First WC draft:

    Mama | Dub
    Senesi | VdV | Alderete | Esteve | Gudmundsson
    Salah | Semenyo | Eze | Doku | Reijnders
    Haaland | JP | Thiago

Early doors yet, but taking tips. Wouldn't hate Woltemade in this team, but feels like in order to do that, I'd need to drop Salah. The defense sucks, as well, but can't have it all.

You convinced having salah in a dual premium is the way to go? It’s looking less that way as the weeks go on imo - have a much better overall balance without and definitely a vastly improved defence. Saying that, salah is salah and could haul on any given day so fair play, suppose you can always downgrade at any time.

I'm not. I rage transferred him out last week, in fact. But I kinda feel like I need _some_ 'pool cover and there's not really anyone rotation-proof apart from him.

Salahless teams don't really seem worth it. They have Saka, but he isnt very explosive. I saw someone saying on reddit the other day how free they feel without Salah, but had 3 mil in the bank, presumably out of fear. Hardly free is it lol.

I don't see any particular upgrade other than hoping Saka smashes it.

Unless Saka, Palmer and Isak are on fire, you can easily have a Salah/Haaland team.

      3. Ausman
        • 2 Years
        2 months, 3 days ago

I agree with NZREDS. Got rid of Salah ahead of GW3 and my team is doing just fine. The money saved allows upgrades to better players across the team and some money ITB for emergencies and form lapses. IMO the essential players are Haaland, Semenyo and Senesi. Outside of Haaland the forwards are inconsistent or rubbish. Semenyo is averaging 9.6 pts per game and is a great anchor for the midfield. Then you load up at the back with defcon monsters, have Roefs as the best 4.5 GK in the game right now and build around it.
Liverpool assets have been inconsistent. Last season they were quite in the transfer window and just ran with what they had. This season they spent big and Slot has changed the system to be more like what he did at Feyonoord, and this has changed player responsibilities and disrupted cohesion. They've still done enough to be top of the table, but from an FPL viewpoint I don't think Liverpool assets are essential at this point.

I agree Pool are trying to taking reliance off Salah. But yea for me, its just not worth it to take him out. I think Arsenal have a small window of good games and it wont be long until I want Isak and Salah. Not enough time for me to spread the money out and then rake it back in. Someone like you, who did it early has the benefit, people doing it now don't IMO.

I had Bertrand, Tadic and Pelle that GW. Costa no show meant captain Pelle and Rolando Arrons off the bench with a rare goal. Over 100 pts, even without Aguero.

Those were the days when our 3 forwards used to score goals regularly.
3-5-2 or 4-4-2 was unthinkable for me in those days.

My best FPL memory was Stephane Sessegnon (c) finally scoring in the 95th minute of the second game of a DGW. FFS rejoiced.

Why is everybody getting Richards from Palace? I am seeing him in a lot of teams over the last week or two. Guehi too expensive now?

Cheapest route into the defence of one of the best teams in the league. Not a DC monster but will likely rack up quite a few DC points.

Thanks. I think I would rather pay the extra and get Guehi though. Will downgrade Cucurella in the coming weeks for him

3FT and £2.3 ITB. How are these GW8 transfers looking. Will shift Raya & Gakpo to Pope & Gordon/Sarr in GW9 after LIV v MAN

    A - Gyok > JP and roll 2
    B - Grealish > Enzo and roll 2
    C - Gyok & Andersen > JP & Timber and roll 1

    Raya
    Senesi - Lacroix - Gabriel
    Gakpo - Semenyo - Paqueta - Reijnders
    Haaland - Gyok - Mateta

    Dubrav - Andersen - Gudmund - Grealish

Do not get rid of Gyokeres before this run of fixtures. He looks like the kind of player who will do well against weaker teams and has been improving gradually. I think he will do well over the next 5-6. I also think Everton only have difficult fixtures for the next three and two of those are at home so Jack may still get something out of it. I would do Mateta to JP if I were going to do any transfer at all.

Great non-Semenyo start of the GW, may already start preparing to the next one. That fker turned into prime CR7 all of a sudden is the biggest mistake of the season so far given my willing rejection of him on WC2. And ofc now I get the lad and see 2 3 2 3 2 next.

Ha, in same boat. Looks like he is now leveling his expected numbers that he achieved last year.

    On a WC

    A) Pedro
    B) Bowen

Who do you think, Bowen going under the radar with a good new manager

Would like to see more of WHM before jumping on Bowen, so Pedro for now. Decent fixtures for both.

        this

plus rotation with Pedro as Champion League games needing rest

Safe option - JP. No idea what the impact of the new manager at WHU will be and maybe they do not do so well going forwards. Nuno teams usually do not score a lot of goals.

I started with Bowen. He has scored 3 goals and got 3 bp every time.

LiveFPL's top 20 all time Arsenal coverage:
    15 - Raya, Gabriel
    13 - Gyökeres
    4 - Saka
    2 - Timber

#3 and #6 played their WC this week.
#3 - Timber, Gabriel and Saka
#6 - Raya, Timber and Gyökeres
    Both got Gordon and Minteh.

    #1, #8, #9 and #10 played BB.

    5 own DCL 🙄

Thanks for this. Interesting to see how our superiors are lining up their teams 😆 I am on Gabriel, Saka (amazingly a differential) and Gyokeres. If Gyokeres is a bully, as I suspect, then I will get rid in 5-6 weeks after this nice run of games - probably for a Liverpool striker once I see how they settle. How do you get this data by the way?

        From Live FPL.
I only have Raya and Saka this week. Looking at replacing Watkins during the IB, so might get Gyökeres.

Where is the Elitserien/ Allsvenskan thread please? Or are you mods gonna ignore me again like yesterday & other days for whatever trivial reason. Maybe Mentaculus was right after all.

I am currently 6th in the Swedish fantasy comeback league so I might need tips here to secure top spot with only 5 rounds left.
