While we’re still largely in the dark on the extent of Sergio Aguero’s knee injury, sustained after nine minutes of Sunday’s 3-2 win for City, there were developments post-match which offer some further insight.

Aguero put down the frozen peas long enough to turn to his Twitter feed and update on the state of his knee injury, offering a semblance of reassurance…

“The studies I had done revealed there’s no significant injury but it was a very tough hit to my knee.”

He then went on to confirm that a full prognosis is likely within the next 24-hours, with City medical staff presumably waiting for the swelling to reduce before making their assessment…

“Tomorrow, the physicians will evaluate the time it will take for me to recover.”

The buzz on the social network site follows quotes from Roberto Mancini which expressed concern for the injured striker.

“I am worried about Sergio because anything around the knee is dangerous and this injury was so strange. We will have to wait, but we are not sure exactly what the problem is at this point… It was so strange because there was no issue with the tackle. It was not a strong tackle, and Sergio wanted to play on…Maybe he is out for a week, or three or four weeks, or until after the international break. We have to see.”

Meanwhile, City’s skipper Vincent Kompany has backed Edin Dzeko to step up should Aguero face a prolonged spell on the sidelines…

“Any team which loses a player like Sergio will have to deal with a blow. But I remember last season that we had to miss out on Carlos (Tevez) for a long time and we managed to cope all right…I obviously hope Sergio won’t be injured for that long but I just go back to last season when we had to cope with these kinds of issues. It’s not a surprise that Edin Dzeko scored.”

The Daily Mail have jumped the gun somewhat and proclaimed that Aguero will return to action “within weeks” but the truth is, until City declare the results of scans, expected today, we can only speculate on the likely length of absence.

Aguero is clearly a doubt for the trip to Liverpool this weekend and, with an international break looming after Gameweek 3, it could be that City are handed the opportunity to give Ageuro a decent recovery time with a return in Gameweek 4.

Plenty of Fantasy managers reacted to yesterday’s events with an immediate transfer. Aguero has been sold by almost 40,000 managers in the Fantasy Premier League game, more than any other player. With Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie on show this evening, we can surely expect heavy transfer activity involving Aguero to come.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

hey mate if you are more active around here maybe you can nail down a spot for the second 19gw season. there will be 18 open spots (3 players relegated per league x 6 leagues) so you've definitely got a chance if you apply again

Who knows maybe someone will resign. Will you be up for the challenge to guide their sinking ship?

But it's sad that you didn't register this time round. The registrations went for at least 15 days. As TW said, you better remember to apply in December.

2 quick questions for those who were able to watch some football at the weekend:

    1. Was Graham involved and unlucky not to score/assist, or was he worringly out of it?
    2. Did Santi take corners and FKs for Arsenal?

    Thanks

If there were fantasy points for drawing off defenders, Graham would have been in the dream team this week. He looked fine, was just unlucky, and a lot of the goals came from incisive counter attacks where he was moving into a channel and Michu or Dyer drove through the middle.

It's a classic example of playing against the fixtures - just on fixtures Southampton should have rolled over for a 4-0, 5-0 drubbing, but instead they're showing good form.

well, looking more and more likely that I will save my transfer. Will need to get at least 1 Chelsea player out, but that may be Ivanovic. As yet no one has popped their head up to replace Torres or Lampard, though I may need to dump one at some point.

Not sure at this stage which 2 of Ivanovic, Lamps and Torres to dump though.

I wouldn't say Torres to Tevez is vital for GW2, with Torres at home to Newcastle and Tevez away to Liverpool.

If you haven't got any Swansea cover then Dyer would be a decent transfer.

Morning chaps, just a couple of quick questions as I didn't get to see much action this weekend:

    1. N'Zogbia - how did he look?
    2. Noble - was he on his fair share of set pieces? Involved much in the attack from open play?

    Cheers.

More interested in N'Zog really. I had a choice in my head all pre-season - Michu and Ireland, or N'Zog and Dyer. I went N'Zog and Dyer, but kept Dyer on the bench.......doh!

My worst gw of all time with 25 points (though Torres/Mata/Cole/Federici double still to come). Already took Michu on but if Aguero is out for weeks, probably take 4 point hit for Aguero->Tevez (and go next week Torres->RVP/Rooney).

Still, early days but 40 points gap to league leader is bit annoying.

          Top 10k?

Feck, if I finish there then I'm quitting for a season.

You have been cutting it close with 5k, but 10k is more-or-less a guarantee.

Don't mean to put a dampener on the game but I think Everton will give United a run for their money without Rio. Kagawa might need time to settle too and Rafael better not play the way he did in the Olympics

      Yep, I'm worried.

Anyone know how much game time Mirallas will get and who's most at risk if he comes in?

Agreed. United will have to make sure they keep possession well tonight, otherwise we could be in a bit of trouble.
