Sir Alex Ferguson has handed Fantasy managers a major boost this morning by revealing Robin Van Persie will be fit to face Wigan tomorrow afternoon. The Dutchman was subbed off at half-time by Louis Van Gaal in his nation’s 4-1 win over Hungary on Wednesday and with no official club statement, many had feared the worst.

Hardly known for his quick healing powers, Van Persie’s availability is of significant news this weekend, with a substantial majority expected to hand him the captaincy ahead of the Latics clash. With four goals in his first two starts for United, Van Persie has wasted little time in maintaining his outstanding scoring record in the Premier League and with Wayne Rooney still absent due to a thigh injury, Ferguson – like many of us – will be heavily reliant on his summer signing from Arsenal to continuing his scoring spree tomorrow.

Ferguson confirmed at this afternoon’s eagerly-awaited press conference:

On the injury front, everyone’s fit….You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks – we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa. They’ve all done it before, although with Shinji we don’t know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he’ll be okay.

As the fixture schedule now starts to pick up, Ferguson certainly doesn’t need to take any unnecessary risks. United face Galatasaray at Old Trafford next Wednesday before embarking on a tricky run of league matches which sees them travel to (liv, new, che) and a certain degree of rotation up top can be expected, with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez set to pick up more game time over the next few weeks. For now, though, Ferguson’s words have soothed us and offered plenty assurance – we can forge ahead with our Fantasy plans for the weekend with confidence renewed.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

hmm, so it looks as though Davies will start v Villa. He's currently my 2nd sub with this team

    Migs (LIV)

Rafael (WIG), Hangeland (WBA), Baines (NEW)

Michu (avl) Johnson (LIV) Hazard (qpr) Noble (nor)

Tevez (sto) RvP (c) (WIG) Torres (qpr)

    Fed, Marveaux, Davies, Clyne

Is it worth putting him as 1st sub in case of a Rafa or AJ no show, or should I play 4-3-3 and start him ahead of Noble?

      JK, latest from Sunderland presser:

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill is waiting on the fitness of winger Adam Johnson ahead of this weekend’s game against Liverpool. Johnson will be re-assessed in the build-up to the game according to O’Neill, who will oversee final match preparations today.

I understand that, better to hedge your bets in case of a Berba fail (which may be more likely than a Tevez fail)

Like that team a lot, though atm I'm reserving judgement on Berba. Fulham have lost their 3 most creative mids over the summer and have yet to really replace them. It's difficult to see where the service to Berba is coming from. I'm looking at getting him on the Jan wc when they've had a chance to get some mids in.

Thanks Elino. Fulham's attacking stats lured me. And his stats for the 48 minutes he played were very promising. Kolarov is a risk, but he is leaving for Sagna soon, and if he doesn't play i have adequate back up in the meantime.

Nice team Boson. Kolarov seems to be the LB at the moment but you know it's gonna go t1ts up and Clichy starts if not this week then next.

Morrison is quality but not sure how consistent from a FF perspective. The rest is bang tidy.

Keep Jenkinson. He has done well and will remain at RB until Sagna returns. No logic in Wenger messing with a defence with 3 CS from 3 games to accommodate a third CB.

To complete the WC, I have no other Everton or Newc players..

    1 - Pienaar and Fletcher

    2 - HBA and Lambert

    3 - Pienaar and Graham

I prefer Fletcher over Berba looking at the next 3 games, plus not sure where Berba's supply coming from. I have had Graham since GW1 and am contemplating keeping him (I have Michu too obviously) until Swansea's good fixtures come to an end in GW8, this will also allow me more time to decide between Fletcher and Berba

Thing is, Graham has what 1 goal so far, i don't think he is worth holding if you have Michu who looks a threat every time Swansea attack with his power and movement. I like Fletcher personally and with McClean, AJ and Larsson to supply him he could do well. But I also like Lambert. But HBA could be a rotation risk with Europa starting.

So it's 1 for me, unless there's a way you can work Baines in, in which case maybe Morrison, Ramirez or Snodgrass over Pienaar.

Fair one mate. I'd have Gibbs but I'm annoyingly 0.1 short. I think I'll have to do the same as you and hope some profit materialises when Jenks loses out. I hate planning to waste a transfer I shouldn't have to make though.

I think Gibbs isn't worth it mate for now at least. He doesn't get assists let alone goals very often. I am 0.1 short as well unless Jenkinson rises today. Still dislike Gibbs.

I'd rather have more nailed-on than possible attacking and right now Gibbs is the most reliable route into a really functioning defence. But yeah, Jenks is fine for now.
