A fine Norwich performance has Arsenal slip to defeat at Carrow Road to deliver a hugely frustrating end to Saturday’s Gameweek 8 action. Here’s part two of today’s Stock Check…

On the Up

The Norwich Defence
Budget back fours continue to attract interest as expensive options fail to produce shut-outs and are forced to fall back on attacking returns. Chris Hughton’s side had showed promise following their opening day drubbing and demonstrated this again tonight with a gritty display. Their fixtures could be worse and the likes of John Ruddy may now earn some attention.

Grant Holt
A third consecutive goal for last season’s leading scorer at Carrow Road. Holt, at last, looks to have cemented his start in Hughton’s lineup and could yet offer some value as a budget striker option this term.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Having started the season so strongly, with three consecutive clean sheets, the Gunners’ backline has failed to keep a shut-out since Gameweek 3. Over 50% of the Fantasy Premier League player base owns an Arsenal defender, with Carl Jenkinson the most popular option, but confidence in Wenger’s rearguard is diminishing by the week.

Vito Mannone
Any claims that Mannone had to the Arsenal number one jersey surely suffered irreparable damage this evening with a shaky performance and the error for the Norwich goal. Wojciech Szczesny may well be several weeks from fitness but he will surely be restored to the lineup once fit.

Santi Cazorla
The Spaniard failed to spark the Gunners this time, falling victim to bitterly disappointing performance from Wenger’s side which showed little in terms of goal threat. The recent clamour for Cazorla will see plenty frustrated this evening but the Gunners do at least have three home games in four to come in which the playmaker will be backed for profit.

Gervinho
Deployed on the flank once again, Gervinho epitomised Arsenal’s showing with ineffective display. His owners will now hope for a shift back to a central attacking role for Arsenal’s forthcoming fixtures but at least the injury suffered to Alex Oxlade Chamberlain could strengthen the Ivorian’s chances of retaining his starting role.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Haha, I usually start with 4 or 5, then whittle it down to 2 by the end of the week, then choose the wrong one on Saturday!

I thing a) is the safe choice, but no MCY attack for Swansea at home has me thinking d) could be worth it (I'd captain Aguero too).

REPOST (stuck on bottom of last page)

    Foster / Begovic
    Baines / Rafael / Cuellar / Demel / Clyne
    Hazard / Cazorla / Nolan / Pienaar / Guthrie
    RVP / Berbatov / Ba

Initial thoughts for next week (early I know) are one of either

    A) Guthrie > Sterling
    B) Rafael > S Taylor/Collocini/Wilson/Vertonghen/Riise
    C) Hazard > Bale

Suarez is at about 400 transfers over his threshold for a rise...but people are getting rid of him...this is highly unusual as the rises didn't happen last night...but could it be possible that if he gets 400+ transfers out before the deadline he could not go up....I'd find that amusing. I wonder if that's ever happened...a player going over 100% then falling below it within a day!

"No point to get someone who everyone will" is the most stupid statement I've ever heard.

It just means when Mata tears up, you'll be left behind. Just because everyone has him, doesn't mean you shouldn't. Actually, it often means the opposite, that everyone is getting him because he's doing very well.

I'm not saying that Mata is essential but that logic is ridiculous.

A few questions I have that would influence my transfers this week:

    1. Is Rangel to Wilson a good transfer?
I am tossing up 4 or 5 different transfers this week but I'm quite certain about doing this one with Swansea's poor defence and fixtures to Stoke's good fixtures and defence.

    2. Should I get rid of Michu?
This transfer was on the agenda for a few weeks with Swansea's terrible fixtures but 2 goals in as many games and playing as lone striker has made me think twice. However, he has only scored against qpr, SUN, WHU, RDG and WIG when plays the likes of mci, new, CHE, tot, ars and MUN in his next 10.

    3. Will Mata continue his form?
The man I will bring in for Michu is Mata but will keep his awesome run going? I watched Chelsea's game and they were great especially Mata's link with the other mids. However, can he keep it up with fixtures of MUN, swa, LIV, wba and MCI and is Michu to Mata worth a hit.

    4. How essential is getting rid of Lambert?
Given the situations above of Michu and Rangel, how does this transfer rate in terms of urgency? Lambert is a rotation risk and showing not great form.

      1. Yes
      2. I would consider keeping for the simple fact he could potentially be playing as a lone striker. He scored 15 in la liga last season, 6 already this season. Sure tough fixtures coming but at home he looks like he has goals in him
      3. Yes, he is a a consistent FPL player, last season he lacked good away performances and goals which he looks to have added
      4. Not essential. He didn't play this weekend but he will 99% start v spurs and will be looking to prove a point to adkins. Southampton always good for a goal so I would keep him for now

So much going for Michu yet somehow there's a lot against him. Very tough choice but if I do get rid of him it'll be for Mata.

Yeah, I think Lambert is nailed on for home games but will miss the odd away game. They're very attacking as you say so I think I'll keep him for a bit longer...

I mean whether you should prioritise getting rid of Rangel or Lambert of your defence is pretty strong and you can leave Rangel on the bench then prioritise Lambert out, if it's not so strong without having to play Rangel then prioritise Rangel out

    a) mata & michu
    or
    c) hazard & routledge and 1.0 in the bank

if i get rid of hazard then i don't think i'll be able to buy him back again.

Tevez is at home to Swansea, don't think that's the right move.

But is he going to start, given Dzeko's form? And Crouch has tasty fixtures too. And you know the temptation of Mata..

Can you do Michu and Pienaar for Mata and someone cheaper? I don't like suggesting Piernaar out but I'd consider shifting him over Tevez if you crave Mata.

Pienaar, well 4 assists since I've got him in, getting me regular points really. I really don't feel like getting him out. You think I should just stay away from Mata? Considering he's in form and I'm a Chelsea fan? 😕

Dzeko have to get more minutes soon. So it could work out. Not a big Crouch fan though..

Crazy, but is that a good thing?

Must be frustrating playing just 17 mins in City's last 3 league games.

      Michu, no doubt.

...unless Pienaar gets injured tomorrow of course!

Depends if you have any other cover I have Jelavic upfront so would rather lose Pienaar than Michu but if you have no other Everton cover then maybe lose Michu

Are people ridding of Chelsea defenders? and is it sensible to get rid of Hazard for Mata even if you don't necessarily need extra funds.
