634x258 The Stock Check

Norwich go eight unbeaten, scoring twice for the first time since Gameweek 6, as the Black Cats leave Carrow Road empty handed. Here’s the Stock Check after Sunday’s events…

On the Up

Anthony Pilkington
Eight goals last season, Pilkington has now blinked on the radar this term having notched his second consecutive home strike after scoring the winner against United. The Norwich midfield has an array of options – notably Wes Hoolahan and Robert Snodgrass; Pilkington emerged as the most profitable option last term and is edging his way to that status now.

Sebastian Bassong
While the Norwich defence was breached for the first time in three home matches, Bassong still delivered for his owners, earning the Canaries opener for his second goal in three outings. Assured of his start in an improved Norwich defence, the former Spurs man has played second fiddle to the popular Javier Garrido but is 0.2 cheaper with a clear threat from set-plays.

Craig Gardner
Much like the Norwich midfield, there are options across Martin O’Neill’s side in this area with Gardner now perhaps emerging as the most potent option. Having struck eight Premier League goals with Birmingham in 2010/11, we know that Gardner can carry a goal threat when given the freedom to support the attack with his long-range shooting. Gardner could have bagged more goals today, denied by a fine Mark Bunn save in the second-half. At 4.9 in the FPL, Gardner offers budget coverage of Sunderland’s double Gameweek.

Going Down

Steven Fletcher
Undoubtedly Sunderland’s main goal threat after firing six goals this term, Martin O’Neill was forced to withdraw his leading scorer with an ankle knock. We await further news ahead of Sunderland’s two fixtures this Gameweek, with O’Neill stating that he is uncertain on the prognosis: further news is expected on Monday or Tuesday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just had a sudden brainstorm: Bale to Gardner for DGW (only IF Bale is really out) then I would have enough to do Berb to Rooney for an RVP, Rooney, Suarez frontline for GW17. You like? Even if Bale is fine I might do the move with Silva . . . am I losing it?

Right decision to play Federici (sou sun) and bench Begovic (avl)? You think he will play both DGW games? I have Huth already..he scored at Villa Park last season, maybe he will do it again...

I'm not sure Stoke will keep a CS at AVL. One of those games where it gets wiped out early and you're kicking yourself for not going the double route? Hard to "predict" these days though.

I don't think Fed will keep any CSs but his tally might be more than Bego's in the one game.

I have Suarez and Bale out next week. I also don't have Fellaini, which worries me.

Can do Baird to Shorey for free, or McAuley and Pienaar to Shorey and Fellaini for -4. The second one would leave me with only 11 starters though (assuming Baird is out).

Think I'll play it safe and just do the 1st one. What to you think?

Just looked at his FPL page and he seems to have been at 6.6 for several weeks, so the flag must have changed to orange. Would love to get him in after he gets up to speed, and home against Sunderland in two weeks might just do it.

I can't figure it out for sure, but with so little selling action today I would assume this is pentup selling that is finally happening because of a change in injury status. Can't see how he would go lower than 6.6 since his return will certainly be noted if he plays in CL.

swapping my keepers in GW17 (though might get Bego over Chesney) Happy with mid atm, and other than Long (who may become Defoe or Ba) I have nowhere I see the need for an upgrade

Michu, Bale, Fellaini, Ramirez and Sterling is a pretty good mid IMO

might just replace Clyne with him and downgrade Rafa later on, to double on United defence v Sunderland and then swap Rafa for Bassong later

    Wildcard?

    Foster
    Bale
    Maloney
    Suarez
    Fletcher

    Or take a 4-point-hit?

Maloney and Fletch could be back for very nice gameweeks and you have Federici for a DGW. I think you dont even need a hit if you decide so.

Aaaargh going round in circles here.

    Bego Bunn

    Baines Cuellar Davies Rafa Gunter

    Silva Fell Michu Sterling Bale

    Berb Suarez RVP

1 FT 0.3 in the bank

Tempted to do Bale > Sess for a DGW punt. I won't lose value on Bale (well maybe 0.1 unless he drops)

Thought Sess looked half decent today and Sun rallied in the second half. Looks promising for the 2 home games...

It's either that or Gunter > Baines lite Shorey?

    Views appreciated

Yep, Shorey is who I want long term to rotate with Davies.

Sess > Bale and then reversed seems a bit of a waste :/

The really amusing thing is that these answers are knee-jerk reactions. Gardner could be a good punt for the DGW. It all depends on whom you would switch out, what your team looks like right now, etc. If you have, say, a Guthrie or a Britton wasting space on your bench and Suarez banned, and Bale maybe injured, and you want to keep both, you could switch out your bench-fodder to Gardner and play him for the DGW. No harm in that, not real risk. People just like to shoot it down because Gardner is not a good long-term prospect.

I'm looking at either a one week put for Bale (as I brought him in this week and won't lose any value) and bring in Sessegnon or I could take out Sterling for McAnuff or Gardner.

For those who were waiting for West Ham's tough run of fixtures to end, to bring in Nolan i.e. MCI, new, STO, tot, mnu, CHE, LIV, wba, EVE, ars.
Is it safe to say that the tough run is now over as ars (a) and wba (a) aren't the tough fixtures we once thought they were?

    What do we think everybody:
Shorey or Cuellar for Rafael as they both have a double gameweek? Only thing is the buy back price on Rafael...
Also in the midfield, transfer Maloney for Robson-Kanu or keep him in?

I don't think you'll want to buy Rafael back, it was always going to be a relatively short-term thing with him. Now that Smalling, Jones and Vidic are back there is sure to be rotation given the heavy fixture period.

So you reckon take him out then?
Do you reckon to go with someone for the double gameweek? Same as in the midfield, keep Maloney or go for the double weeker?!
