The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 22

A run of victories for Paddy Power before the Christmas break finds us going into 2013 with a small deficit to chase. Having taken a flutter sabbatical over Christmas, we’re now back and invigorated, determined to claw back the few quid lost. Let’s see what Scout Pick inspired selection Paddy has dealt us for Gameweeek 22…

Chelsea’s double Gameweek crown jewels have been turning heads ever since their extra fixture with Southampton was announced and none shine so bright as Demba Ba. The new arrival at the Bridge was given a run-out at St Mary’s in the FA Cup and duly delivered a brace to spell it out – he’s not arrived to sit on the bench and watch Fernando Torres miss chances. Having been preserved for the midweek Capital One cup defeat to Swansea, there’s every chance that Ba will start at Stoke this weekend. Paddy are offering 11/4 on a Ba goal packaged with a Chelsea clean sheet and we’ll take that as our top bet, throwing down £4 to back Ba and Rafa Benitez’s boys.

Gareth Bale’s form is somewhat irresistible right now. De-railed only by the suspension which saw him miss the 3-1 win over Reading, the Bale express is back on the tracks with the QPR defence in his sights. Having seen Luis Suarez tear apart the R’s back four in the last Loftus Road outing, Bale owners will be fancying a haul from the Welshman, despite QPR’s stoic performance at Stamford Bridge last time out. Paddy have Bale to score with a Spurs clean sheet at 4/1 and we’ll take that for a couple of quid.

Our final single market bet involves another goalscoring midfielder back from suspension. Everton’s Marouane Fellaini has been a Fantasy all-star this term and looks set to earn his place in our team of the season. While there’s mounting speculation surrounding his future at Goodison, he’ll be in the Everton lineup to face Swansea and will carry a major threat to a side that is often troubled by an aerial ball and set-piece. A Fellaini goal looks good, although having conceded in each of their last 15, backing the clean sheet is a brave move. Nevertheless, we’ll put another £2 on Paddy’s odds of 10/3 on a Fellaini goal with an Everton shut-out against the Swans.

Our final two quid is reserved for the weekly treble, with Paddy offering 14/1 on a Robin Van Persie goal against Liverpool, a Juan Mata assist at Stoke and a Sunderland clean sheet at home to West Ham. It’s no guts, no glory, as we empty our stake money and hope for the stars to align on this one.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Sorry lads, not usually one to RMT but it's a Saturday morning and I've wildcarded so show me some love.

    What do you think?

    Bunn (De Gea)

    Demel Luiz Sagna (Davies Wilson)

Looks good mate. Bunn is an interesting one. I'm a Norwich fan and quite a few of us are unhappy with him as Ruddy's sub while he's out. We could start keeping cleenies but I'm not optimistic.

I know at least three people with this problem since last night. I have it on my PC but not on my laptop.

Both are using Firefox so i think that it can't be a browser issue

Torres is a great differential now this week. I still expect him to be 1st choice. Think the Ba love is a bit over the top on here.

'Arry tightened up after the Liverpool fiasco and he knows Bale inside out.

I've not got Bale tho and I'm absolutely shnitting it! Captain Mata - in these DGW/WC days just having Gaz is enough of a diff

Post DGW WC team. Been playing around with it and I would prefer a 3rd striker instead of the 'Power 5' but those 5 are just too damn hard to ignore

    Bego Bunn

    Baines Zab Demel Wilson Davies

    The generic 5

    RVP Suarez Pog

      Ba is looking very dangerous

My logic is that mata may well share points with the other mids. Ba on the other hand may play as a lone striker and reap all the rewards.

The risk comes from Southampton game. Hopefully RB will play 2 up top, or maybe not.

Think DGW but also longer term

    A) Puncheon & Ba
    B) Bale & Ruiz

What would you prefer? B would mean playing 352 most weeks
