Liverpool serve up a belated double Gameweek treat against a much-changed Swansea side at Anfield. Luis Suarez, Jose Enrique, Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard are the main protagonists, while Michu’s owners are left frustrated as the Spaniard warms the visitors’ bench for the entire 90 minutes:

On the Up

Luis Suarez
The Uruguayan ran amok against a second-string Swansea to deliver a goal and pair of assists in the 5-0 rout. Daniel Sturridge’s arrival had raised concerns over Suarez’s Fantasy prospects but it’s clear he is just as consistent alongside the former Chelsea man and has now scored in three of their four starts together.

Steven Gerrard
Those who handed the Liverpool skipper the armband would’ve been holding their breath as he stepped up to take the first-half spot kick. While Gerrard atoned for his penalty miss against West Brom on Monday to slot past Michel Vorm, suffice to say his decision to hand Daniel Sturridge Liverpool’s second spot-kick of the afternoon did not go down too kindly with his owners.

Daniel Sturridge
Having provided an assist, his haul was surprisingly boosted by Gerrard’s decision to step aside for the second penalty. Sturridge subsequently slotted home and has now produced four goals and a pair of assists in just five appearances for the Reds, with attacking returns in each of his appearances.

Jose Enrique
A goal and assist contribution supplemented a clean sheet as the raiding left-back racked up 16 points, pre-bonus for the Gameweek. With an ownership of less than 5%, Enrique has turned out to be crucial differential for the double.

Philippe Coutinho
Handed a first start since joining the club from Inter last month, the young Brazilian notched his side’s second to suggest he could be a real mid-price option if he can nail down a regular role. Coming in at 6.5 in FPL, Coutinho is likely to receive new interest once the blank Gameweek 27 is past, given Liverpool’s kind run of fixtures.

Going Down

Swansea Squad Rotation
With next weekend’s Capital One Cup final in mind, Michael Laudrup took the opportunity to hand many of his second-string a chance to impress. While today’s result will be hugely frustrating for Michu owners after the Spaniard warmed the bench, it’s fair to say that Laudrup is unlikely to make the same mistake again – today’s display highlighted Swansea lack of strength in depth in spectacular style.

Fabio Borini
The Italian last just eight minutes after replacing Suarez as a sub late on in the second-half. Borini was ushered off with a shoulder injury and post-match comments attributed to his manager suggest a possible dislocation which would rule him out for the rest of the season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Morning all,

This has probably already been asked but assuming Everton beat Oldham and their game versus Arsenal has to be moved out of GW29, is there any reason it couldn’t be moved back to GW28 (midweek following the weekend fixtures)? Same with Fulham v Chelsea?

Lost by 9 points to some Suarez captainers (who got the 5 point MOTM bonus which might have gone Gerrard's way if he'd scored 2 goals as he was the only one with any passing bonus). It was a silly idea to make a gameweek out of just one game but it brought back memories of the Euro's 🙂

I think it's definitely a good idea to get some newcastle coverage in with their fixtures and change in form. My plan is to get Debuchy probably for GJ and then use funds elsewhere in the next couple of weeks.

Got my three strikers settled on benteke, rvp and aguero I think so no room for either personally but the blank plus the strong possibility that liverpool will be without suarez for a couple of games very soon puts cisse ahead for me.

Anyone have any idea on this?

(Posted above, but trying to see if there's anything in it)

This has probably already been asked but assuming Everton beat Oldham and their game versus Arsenal has to be moved out of GW29, is there any reason it couldn’t be moved back to GW28 (midweek following the weekend fixtures)? Same with Fulham v Chelsea?

Rodgers seemed upset Liverpool had that game moved to this weekend (he's probably fine with it now) so either Liverpool didn't have much say in the matter or he doesn't have much say at the club.

"I was very disappointed with the Premier League to be honest," the Reds boss told reporters.

"To put it in on a week when we have played on a Monday and played on a Thursday in an away trip to Russia, and put it in between that and another important European game on Thursday ... I think it is another example of the Premier League in this country not helping teams whatsoever.

"I think every other country in Europe will always try to help their teams - some of them will play on a Friday before a European game - so for us to have it thrown in there when there were other free weeks was bemusing to say the least.'"

I think they have to count themselves fortunate that Swansea were already preparing for the final against Bradford. I still don't understand Laudrup though. Why does Michu need 2 weeks rest for a game against a League 2 side?

If Chelsea need a replay with Middlesbrough that could rule it out as they have no gaps in their schedule until Quarter Finals day, then it's an International Break and after that they'd have to fit Fulham in somewhere. If they drew a Quarter Final with Man U then they'd have 2 games floating around going into April that would need adding.

can't get aguero since i am going with 3-5-2 and sturridge + rvp are season keepers

but if i get sissoko i could have 4 big hitters in defence (evans, ddg, zabaleta and aplizi) and that could be a good option as well

    Anyone seen this?

    http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/sturridge-i-ll-help-luis-win-golden-boot?

Sturridge planning on helping Suarez to the golden boot, he has curbed a bit of his selfishness at least 😉

    Also, another interesting quote:

"So I was lucky that I got the penalty from Stevie and I'm happy that I put it away.
"He was asking Carra first, then I asked him. In the end, he let me have it and I thank him very much for giving me the opportunity to score another goal."
The England international explained his wish that Jamie Carragher will find the target before his retirement at the end of the season and delivered glowing words for the veteran defender.

Which suggests should liverpool get another penalty when a couple of goals up, Gerrard might offer it to Carragher to take, to get him a goal this season before retirement

I remember reading that in the 2005 cl final when liverpool went to penalties that Benitez asked who wanted to take one and simply ignored Carra who was eagerly volunteering. Think it was in Gerrard's autobiography... 🙂

OK, so I can blame Sturridge instead, Gerrard was at least trying to do a nice gesture.

Judging by my table, I think Sturridge may be the better bet, after the blank.

I'd just be worried that two games without suarez might seriously dent liverpool's attack. Not sure the table opposite has been updated, I think he's on 9 yellows after this weekend isn't he?
