As tomorrow’s deadline edges ever-closer, Fantasy managers are turning to a couple of bustling Belgians in their droves as we attempt to ride out a tricky six-match Gameweek. Second and third for forwards in terms of transfers in so far, Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke both look strong mid-price options with games against Swansea and Reading respectively. With five goals apiece in their last six appearances, the duo have been in prolific form of late – we cast an eye over their statistics in this latest article for members:

    need to replace silva.
    sessegnon or michu?

    Top of my mini league, with 2nd placed rival having michu.
    but sess is cheaper, and a bigger differential

    Any help is appreciated

    A) Wilson & McAnuff, get Rafael next week.

    B) Saylor & Gardner/Puncheon, get Dawson next week.

            I'm talking about taking him out next week.

            What favours Gardner is that I can take out Davies instead of McAuley, but I'm not sure that's a better option?

    My Captain options:

    1. Bale
    2. Suarez
    3. Sissoko
    4. Lambert
    5. Michu

    None are standouts so struggling to choose. Got a feeling with Sissoko against the poor form of Stoke. Suarez for the safe option.

    Opinions appreciated.

      No hit if you have 10. Expecially if it's taking out a player you'd only want back for the DGW.

      10 is plenty and many would envy that without lodsing points.

        Saving a transfer and playing with 10 is pretty much the best case scenario.

        I've planned around this week to keep as many good players as possible.

        I saved a transfer last week and had 8 players for this week. I've used 1 FT on bringing Suarez in for Giroud - who I could keep all season. I'll use the other on either Fellaini > Sissoko or Anichebe > Benteke/Lukaku bringing me to 10. I may take a hit to do both.

            Encouraging to hear this, I'm leaning towards the hit because I quite enjoy risk taking - and there's no downside when the player you're taking out has a blank anyway.

            Looks like I've got to choose between the infinite budget strikers now...

    I've decided to have both of these guys this week. Without being able to see the contents of the article I do however believe there isn't a whole lot between these two. People might say Lukaku's stats are better because he has shorter playing time and has been amazingly consistent but you have to also bear in mind that Lukaku plays for a stronger team and while scoring some crucial goals this year hasn't been carrying his team like Benteke has.

    Benteke's job hasn't just been to score goals, he's shown great ability as a playmaker by linking the midfield to the attack. He's not only been a strong target man but a source of creativity by using his aerial ability and his strength to hold up the ball and create space for other players.

    You might be surprised by this but Benteke is third, only behind Suarez and Berbatov for touches per game as a striker. This tells you how involved he is in their general play and how vital he is. No wonder Lambert has favoured him over Darren Bent, who is essentially a poacher and quite poor at linking up play up top.

    But back to my comparison between Lukaku and Benteke. Lukaku's stats might appear better/more consistent but his team have been significantly stronger than Villa this year and have better players overall. Add to this the fact that Lukaku has often been coming on from the bench later on in games and causing tired defenders havoc.

    Since Benteke played his first game he has been averaging 85 mins per game, so has practically played every minute and will have suffered the effects of fatigue, regression, dips in form. Lukaku in contrast has averaged 45mins per game since the start of the season, not only is he constantly fresh and free of fatigue, he is also not carrying the burden of being the main source of goals in a struggling team. Instead he's been allowed the freedom to exhibit his talents as a pure striker in a very competent team with no pressures on their back. Thus he's to a large extent freed of the responsibilities Benteke has had all season.

    In conclusion, we're dealing with two absolutely massive talents and Benteke's ability has been slower to gather public attention due to him being relatively unknown before this season but gradually his strengths have come to be appreciated as his talent sticks out like a sore thumb every time we watch Villa play.

    Go Team Belgium

    😎

    Hello. Spare some time to look over this?

    Begovic
    Davies Clyne Fabio(!) Cameron(!)
    Sissoko Bale Michu
    Lambert Sturridge

    Federici RVP Mata Walcott Distin

    What would people do with this lot? 1 FT. My plan is to just do Distin –> Martin. Can anyone see anything better?

      If you don't have much invested in RVP you could move him to Suarez and just get him back for GW30. Obvioulsy not worth it if you would lose a lot of value on RVP. I would just want to spend my transfer on attacking points. Southampton will probably score anyway.

        I know what you mean and i would normally always prioritise attacking transfers. Only my defence is horrible and i'm happy with my front 8. My next 4 transfers are all planned in defence!

        Distin --> Martin
        Fabio --> Wilson

      I did enrique, but more for the attack threat and long term fixtures than anything else. Toss a coin. keeping the FT is just as good, if less exciting.

      in the next few weeks we'll all be wondering why we didn't save FT's.

    anyone else keeping Aguero despite not fielding 11 this GW?

      I suggest you take a look at Remy's sucess with crosses in open play over the last 2 years.

      Count how many QPR deliver this week then decide.

      Clue:

      if 'arry plays Fabio its a Remy buy signal.

    Tricky this week. I have:

    Mingolet, Bunn
    Zabaleta, Baines, Onuoha, Davies, Harte
    Taarabt, Bale, Puncheon, Walcott, Michu
    Suarez, RVP, Lambert

    I'm considering:

    Zabaleta -> Bassong
    Baines -> Johnson
    Taarabt -> Sissoko

    For a four point hit. With four players not playing this week, plus Onuoha and Taarabt seemingly out of favor, I effectively have six out this week. It seems like the transfers have decent long term prospects, plus I get to keep RVP and Walcott. However, I lose Baines as a DGW prospect, although even that's not set in stone.

    All thoughts are welcome...

    Having a look at the % owned by stats and there are only six players playing this week who are owned by at least 25% of players. If all of them fail to score then this is going to be one of the lowest weekly averages in history.

    The six players are
    Bego
    Shawcross
    Michu
    Bale
    Suarez
    Lambert

    How many do you all own? I own all except Shawcross so am confident that I'll get average or above this week.
