The comes a time when even the greatest generals lay down their weapons and accept their “day of defeat”. Hannibal at Zama, Napoleon at Waterloo, and now Mark at Eastlands.

I know for sure after a couple of retrospective days, he’ll dust himself down and prepare for the next Gameweek. There’s nothing more dangerous than a wounded animal and what could be better than a double Gameweek to help the rehabilitation.

According to Mark, having got wind of his selection in my wildcard squad, Luka Modric laughed so hard he burst his appendix, making that the first time my bandwagon was derailed by an internal organ.

Fabregas signs his own midweek game sicknote; in his mother’s handwriting. So he’s finally transferred himself into his own Fantasy team and we about to see why he’s been holding back these last few weeks. Well that’s the theory.

Off to the island we travel with Nikola “Gulliver” Zigic, our very own coconut picker. Mark’s bringing the rum, and with my cheapo cartons of Asda value pineapple juice, we’ve got our very own Pina Colada on tap. If it looks like the heavy cargo is going to sink us we can always jettison the flotsam, or in order words chuck out Darren Bent.

Up for discussion this episode is the Manchester derby and the perils of Gameweek 28, while the debate of Charlie’s 8 or 9 yellows gets put to bed.

Oh and by the way, please accept our apologies for the “playful shenanigans” at the start of last week’s podcast. We were unaware that our microphones were hooked up and if any offense was caused, it was purely intentional.

Odenwinges home form , latest first. The zero was against man u where i think he missed a penalty.

When he has been against weak teams he has nearly always delivered.

These stats look like captain material to me. Everyone picking arsenal but they just being sheep , deep down they now van persie going to be rested for one game

Maybe......however I remember people saying the same about berbs for man u's last dgw. Odem a good shout though for the captaincy. Rvp all the way for me though, however I'm biased I admit.

Morning guys....very true... how many people said don't captain berb he'll be rested before he scored 5! Its true he could have been and so could RVP. Odem a could punt too.. flip a coin... 🙂

Choosing RVP has got nothing to do with being a sheep. Believe it or not I pick who I think will score the most points. Over this double I think it will be RVP.

We don't KNOW that he will miss one game. That's just your opinion.

'Sheep' is used as a putdown on here when someone doesn't like a player but can't think of a decent footballing reason. RvP might only play one match, but just look at his history to see how many points he can get in one.

Not that I think he will play one, I reckon he should appear (at worst) in both. Either way, he's way out in front of the FPL form table for all positions having had no doubles.

People were banging on about Berba being rested in the last double, and I happily collected 58 points.

RVP could easily only play one game, but score more than what Odem does in both games. If he plays both, he should have a monster GW. Easy choice for me.

Please can anyone help me with a little advice. Here is my current team of which I have 2 free transfers and 1.9 in the bank:

    Foster (Stockdale)
    Rafael Djourou Coleman Kelly Jara
Brunt Walcott Van der Vaart Nani Adam
    Berbatov Van Persie Tevez

Looking to replace stockdale->Robinson and Djourou->Huth. This would give me some coverage for DGW and the dodgy GW 28... Then with my 1 free next week I can do VDV->Cahill

He has a track record of not doing it against the better defences. I am not counting the hattrick at Liverpool because they were one of the worst teams in the league at that stage.

You never know though, the way he's playing this year he could easily grab a goal or two.

What's the best source of injury news? I've dropped players because they were reported injured, only for them to play and score good points.

I used to use physioroom. . . but not sure how reliable it is. The PL website seems to wait until Saturday to put that information on and then it's not always correct.

This website (ffscout) says that Fabregas and RVP are injured but Arsenal.com doesn't list them.

But then this site doesn't seem to realise that Fabianski is out for the season. . .

So where can I find reliable info?

This site has a roundup of news on the web, and if something unexpected happens then it's most likely because it's been kept quiet. Alternatively, you could try getting a job in all 20 Prem clubs to get some inside info?

Anyone else playing Fabregas, Walcott AND RVP this GW? Tempted to find a way of shipping Fab in to go with the other two...

    Foster (Hart)
Huth Djourou Kelly RJohnson (A Hughes)
    Walcott Nani Adam Kuyt (N'Zogbia)
    RVP Odemwingie (Tevez)

I'm on the Wildcard this week. To get Fab in I'd have to shuffle a fair bit. I'm happy to dump out N'Zogbia, Kuyt, Djourou. But I may have to take out Hart or Odemwingie for someone cheaper to make the cost up for Fab as I only have 3.5 in the bank.

Not keen on the expensive keeper combo myself, I'd go with one or the other (probs Foster) and pair them up with a cheapy. Nice defence, not sure on Hughes though... if you ditch Hart, you could get Kolarov. The rest of the team is really nice but I'd go for Fabs or Walcott, not both, and keep Djourou if he's fit.

Morning, anybody offer advice on what to do with my team. I seem to be in the awkward position of not having a huge ammount of DGW players but also potentially struggling to cover GW28 with decent players. Currently
    Hart (Stockdale)
    RJ, Rafael, Coleman (Hangeland, Walker)
    Nani, VDV, Fabs, Adam(Zogs)
    RVP, Odem, Tevez

Hangeland and Zogs both have pretty awful fixtures coming up so would shift both out but don't know who for. Any suggestions?

opinions please fellow fplers. my team at the moment:

    foster (stockdale)
    huth kelly sagna (coleman, walkerr)
    walcott, adam, barton, nani, vdv
    rvp, tevez (berbs)

    1) better points return in return from non dgw defenders
    2) is it worthwhile dropping vdv to the bench for this dgw as he may only play 1 full game plus a cameo? form is slightly iffy and while away from home on both games tottenham are up against teams that are leaking goals
    3) i can't see a high scoring game in the manchester derby. is it worthwhile leaving nani, berbs or tevez on the bench? rash thinking here or potential differentials by bringing in my subs for two of their places? and if so, for who?

slightly pissed atm. thoughtful answers appreciated

I've got Nani and Berbs on my bench. Pretty sure it's gonna be a cagey game, Tevez will be the most likely to get a goal or 2 since he goes 150% against Man U..

Berbs is a gamble, could go big, probably just gonna get a 2 though.

Nani might get involved but Tevez has more of an edge in my opinion.
