Last Monday’s Manchester derby afforded Sergio Aguero the perfect platform to serve Fantasy managers a reminder of his capabilities. Emerging from the bench late on, the Argentine weaved his way through the hosts’ backline before thrashing the ball past David De Gea as United’s stuttering bid for the title continued:

Having helped clinch the league with virtually the last kick of the previous season, Aguero was firmly in many a manager’s plans heading into the 2012/13 campaign. A knee problem sustained on the opening day at home to Southampton saw almost 500,000 jump off the bandwagon by the time September arrived and while Aguero returned to the first-team fold by Gameweek 5, he’s yet to find the consistency that harvested 23 goals, nine assists and 30 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in a devastating debut campaign.

Granted, Aguero has failed to mirror his own high standards thus far but has, nevertheless, delivered 10 goals and three assists from just 18 starts and, as he edges back towards full fitness following a recent knee problem, is clearly in the mood to deliver again. While United remain in pole position to wrestle the title back from Roberto Mancini’s side, the remaining fixtures hand City the chance to rack up the points and at the very least cement second spot behind their rivals.

After a FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea this weekend, City entertain Wigan at the Etihad next Wednesday, while West Ham, Norwich and West Brom have all still to pay visit – the Baggies clash is yet to be rescheduled, meaning City still have a double Gameweek to follow. Bearing in mind they also have trips to Swansea and Reading, it’s a fair assumption that Fantasy managers will be eyeing up City’s main assets with some anticipation.

Now down to 10.9 in FPL (9.9 in the Sky Sports game), Aguero has less than 5% ownership in FPL at present and, similar to David Silva, approaches the last few fixtures as a real differential. Providing he’s 100% fit, the Argentine is surely set to start every match from here on in as Mancini attempts to save face in what has been a disappointing defence of the title. Ironically, if United sew up the title soon, owners of Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney may choose to freshen up their front three if Sir Alex Ferguson decides to rotate up top – a move to Aguero seems a strong tactic for the remaining matches, then, as the City forward looks to finish the season with a flourish once again.

I'd get Fellaini. This "one day of training" is a bit of a worry, not sure he'll start both, whereas Fellaini on the other hand is pretty much guaranteed 180.

I had decided to go in with fellaini as captain, as a differential, but only because walcott wasn't 100% fit. Now I've got 20hours to stress over whether I shift the armband to wally. At the moment, I think I will.

        Walcott for captain.

ok lads, the end of my wc is nearly here, which means peace at last for you lot 😛

    But for now

    a) DDG, Dawson, Pienaar

    b) Schwarzer, Alcaraz, Kagawa

    C) Fabianski, Rafael, Pienaar

Not liking C as I'd end up with a DGWer or Nasty on the bench

leaning that way, tried to fit Theo and RvP in, but the only way I can do it, is to either

Have Alcaraz and Shaw (no Nasty or Dawson)

or have Schwarzer and Dawson (no United defence and still no Nasty)

Here's what I'm going for with my WC:

          DDG
          Baines--Sagna--Demel--Zabaleta
          Santi--Fellaini--Silva/Theo(undecided)
          RVP--Benteke--Berbatov

          (Robles--Maloney--Michu--Dawson)

          Enough left for Caz->Bale

you are far lighter on strikers than me

            I have

Same defence but Nasty over Zaba
            Santi, Fellaini, Pienaar
            RvP, Berba, Rooney
same bench. Had Rooney for weeks. Rival has RvP hence why I want him, then after GW34 he will be sold for Aguero/Tevez to fund Bale. If I want Theo and RvP I have to make one of those 2 choices. Not sure Theo is worth it.

Although I said a), i dont much fancy peinaar tbh. And i think you're double united forwards may have something to do with which team you support, i'm not sure i have enough faith in united to risk that investment up top.

What does worry me is my lack of flexibility up top for if i wanted to get aguero or suarez. I suppose i could always sell rvp, or take a hit and downgrade someone else, so its not much of a oncern.

Who are they ? I think you need 1 Utd Striker as Rooney + R.V.P have high ownership just in case Utd do go nuts. An arsenal or Utd defender , Caz or Walcott and Fellaini. I think that is the bare essentials for this double and any more is a bonus

Dawson to Distin and field 11 player guaranteed

Good as option as the other 2 I mention to be fair the only downside is rotation for him which I believe it would be bonkers from SAF to do at this stage.

Reckon Rooney and his current form has more chance not to start 1 of the games than RvP.

Out of those, probably Sagna. I think Flabby is nailed on for the rest of the season, while Sagna could miss a game, especially this week when the schedule is a little congested. But yeah, it's either him or Sagna.

    DeGea (Robles)

Why is everyone taking about Walcott as if he is going to start now? Are we not still in the same situation? All that has happened is Wenger has confirmed he is fit, it doesn't mean he'll start vs Norwich.

Would it be fair to say that, apart from Kompany, Clichy is the most nailed on in the city back 4? It seems like Nastasic and Zabaleta (with Richards returning to fitness) are more prone to rotation.

Now that Walcott is fully fit, that really puts me in a pickle.

The question is: To Caz (c) or not to Caz (c)?

Walcott has always done the business, and it seems a lot lately whenever a player returns from a ban/ injury they do well on their return, e.g. Aguero, Rooney, and so on. I just dunno if Cazorla is really the "safe option". Cazorla might play a lot deeper with Arteta/ Wilshere/ Ramsey since Walcott, Gervinho and Giroud play so far up the pitch. I just think when Walcott is on the pitch, he always seems more capable of bigger hauls than Cazorla...

    Thoughts?

Don't go with the Cazorla playing deeper role, he is there as an attacking player, to set attacks up. Wengers is also prob the most attack minded manager in the pl. I just wonder will he stick with same attacking line up, Gervinho is in good form, and give Walcott more recovery time ahead of Everton.

Personally I think the DDG ship has sailed. I've owned him for his big haul and I feel the returns are gonna dry up. DGW of away games and Stoke are gonna fight hard to avoid relegation. The same with Villa. Then Arsenal and Chelsea after that. I'm gonna ditch him quite soon

So, on last time. Who to ditch for Felaini?

    A) Coutinho
    B) Townsend

Current thinking is Townsend as Coutinho provides good cover for Suarez (if he picks up his yellow), but swapping out Coutinho free's up a lot more funds for future gw's (and my strategy for bringing Bale back is very tight).
