Could have just got lucky with the talent they found and that that talent has matured and become great players.
That can be said about every other team that has had success. France team from 1998 to 2000 happened to have a great group of players at the right time, Ajax in the mid 90's. Even Barca as their homegrown players all came together at the right time in terms of experience and youth.

The thing with a blueprint is that it should be easy to copy. Every club in the world looks for good young players at cheap prices it's not something that Dortmund have just suddenly discovered.
You might luck into one or two players who turn out to be superstars. You don't get a whole team of them by random luck.
Platini can't afford a Borussia - Bayern final, that will be a disaster for UEFA. I expect Cüneyt Çakır to referee both return legs and ensure a Spanish final.
Why? Biggest country in Europe (2nd if you count Russia), biggest attendences, financialy sound teams. If UEFA were to be biased towards any country (Lol) it'd surely be Germany?

I suspect that the biggest attendances are just due to the size of the stadiums rebuilt after the wars.
