Premier League Fixtures Announced

The Premier League fixture list is now published and available for our perusal. We’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day, with the aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season.

Jose Mourinho’s second stint as Chelsea boss opens with a home game against Hull before the Blues make their way to Old Trafford in David Moyes’ first home match in charge of Man United. Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge clash with Aston Villa, scheduled for Gameweek 3, has been postponed due to European Super Cup duties – if this is moved to Gameweek 1, major investment will be on the cards from Fantasy managers.

Moyes opens his tenure with a trip to Swansea and also squares up to Liverpool at Anfield in the first month – a tricky start for the defending champions, who also entertain neighbours City in Gameweek 5. City’s opening three matches look enticing, though. Manuel Pellegrini welcomes Newcastle to the Etihad in his first game in charge before City face back-to-back matches with a couple of promoted sides – a trip to Cardiff precedes a home showdown with Hull.

Roberto Martinez’s first three games in charge at Everton suggest the Toffees could be quick out the blocks. Trips to Norwich and Cardiff, with a home match against West Brom, will afford plenty optimism from the blue half of Merseyside, while Liverpool have also been handed a decent start, aside from the home game with United.

The likes of Southampton, Spurs and West Ham all look strong investment options over the opening six Gameweeks, though Villa and Swansea have been dealt a blow. Paul Lambert’s side face Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and City in the first six, while Michael Laudrup’s men go head-to-head with United, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal.

We plan to focus on the schedule in further detail over the next few days, with a “Frisking the Fixtures” piece rolled out soon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Utd fans better hope that Moyes does not have his customary slow start. If they do they will be screwed.

I already fear for Utd and Moyes. It looks like it's between Chelsea and Citeh this season.

There's still 38 games to be played in the season, is it not? This is a good opportunity to get a lot of points from the close rivals in the beginning. Should they get less than expected, we know this tough start means that they'll have a kinder fixture list later.

I guess this means Bale will be in everyone's team come GW1 (in case it wasn't already certain).

We should have some good mid-price defenders to chose from as well with Norwich and West Ham both having decent fixtures and possibly playable in most of the opening weeks

West Ham defender playable every week in the first six, Norwich defenders playable in all but 1 of the first 6, not so sure about WBA, 4 or 5 maybe of the first 6.

Yes, but RVP can score when he wants and against anyone. Not necessarily as clear cut as that when you have a proven PL player like RVP. He may end up being a very good differential in those first few gameweeks.

I wouldn't say bad fixtures is reason enough to not get RVP, but with Aguero's fixtures being so tasty and him being cheaper, it'll be hard to justify.

United will be very interesting for a lot of reasons... United's defence was a bit of a shocker for the first half of the season (4th worst at one point) but the fans were very loyal to SAF and nobody batted an eyelid...I wonder if they would be quite so kind to Moyes given that it looks like they may be shipping a few goals early on. Big test coming up for Moyes and fans alike.

To RVP or not to RVP?

I see a template 2 teams. One with RVP and one without. Despite the fixtures, i reckon he's a big game player and United always have goals in them.

For now, i think i'm in the to RVP boat.

My gut feeling is that we may all be in for a suprise with RVP.....If Rooney goes, and i think he will, i can see a space for RVP in the hole as oppose to a straight forward striker spot with a much bigger role for Hernandez. SAF played that combo at the tail end of the season for one game and it looked quite good...we'll see...

Good point. If Rooney hasn't left yet he will be unsettled at least. There is a very strong possibility RVP will start the season in a playmaker role.

Certainly a possibility...Not that it would mean RVP's goals would dry up...he's too good for that but it might reduce them a bit if it were to happen on a regular basis...Having said that his share of kicks would go up as well...

I don't think so. We have Shinji to do that. Or our new signings. RVP is our best natural finisher. and will be played striker.

Kagawa is another option yes. But it wasn't as if he played every game last season. I think there will be a bit of rotation going on. It will be interesting to see which way Moyes goes.

Indeed...could go that way.....As and when United need to play ywo up top, in the absence of Rooney, i can't ever see it being RVP as striker with Hernandez in the hole...So it would have to be RVP or Kagawa...Close season friendlies will give us a few clues.

A year ago to the day, you were saying the same thing. Chelsea will walk the title. It's OK to be a loud fan, but you need to be realistic too.

After the Sept international break Arsenal's fixtures are kind up until they play Utd in November. Definitely worth doubling up on Arsenal in that period.

West Ham and Southampton have good rotation prospects up till mid oct. Price dependant, Jussi and Boruc could be my keepers

        GW8 and 12 are problematic.

I'd arguable just get Juusi and a promoted keeper, unless the Southampton keeper is dirt cheap
