The Premier League fixture list is now published and available for our perusal. We’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day, with the aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season.
Jose Mourinho’s second stint as Chelsea boss opens with a home game against Hull before the Blues make their way to Old Trafford in David Moyes’ first home match in charge of Man United. Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge clash with Aston Villa, scheduled for Gameweek 3, has been postponed due to European Super Cup duties – if this is moved to Gameweek 1, major investment will be on the cards from Fantasy managers.
Moyes opens his tenure with a trip to Swansea and also squares up to Liverpool at Anfield in the first month – a tricky start for the defending champions, who also entertain neighbours City in Gameweek 5. City’s opening three matches look enticing, though. Manuel Pellegrini welcomes Newcastle to the Etihad in his first game in charge before City face back-to-back matches with a couple of promoted sides – a trip to Cardiff precedes a home showdown with Hull.
Roberto Martinez’s first three games in charge at Everton suggest the Toffees could be quick out the blocks. Trips to Norwich and Cardiff, with a home match against West Brom, will afford plenty optimism from the blue half of Merseyside, while Liverpool have also been handed a decent start, aside from the home game with United.
The likes of Southampton, Spurs and West Ham all look strong investment options over the opening six Gameweeks, though Villa and Swansea have been dealt a blow. Paul Lambert’s side face Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and City in the first six, while Michael Laudrup’s men go head-to-head with United, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal.
We plan to focus on the schedule in further detail over the next few days, with a “Frisking the Fixtures” piece rolled out soon.
