Sunday’s two matches get underway with a Selhurst Park encounter that finds Crystal Palace host Andre Villas-Boas’ Spurs. Two hours later, Chelsea start their double Gameweek with a home clash with Hull City as Fantasy mangers brace themselves for an avalanche of points.

The team news from Palace finds Ian Holloway keep the faith with much of the side that won promotion from the Championship. Holloway keeps the new boys on the bench, with Marouane Chamakh and Jose Campana in reserve while the likes of Aaron Wilbraham and Scott Dobbie are handed starts. New signing, Dwight Gayle, does get his Premier League debut up front, however.

Visitors Spurs are without Gareth Bale but can call on the services of Jan Vertonghen who is fit to line up alongside Michael Dawson in defence. Danny Rose gets the nod at left-back as expected. In midfield, Gylfi Sigurdsson looks to be starting in the Bale role, with Nacer Chadli given a debut on the left-flank. All eyes will be up front, however, as Roberto Soldado makes his first start following his £26 million move from Valencia.

    After the first weekend of Premier League action I've just taken a very quick look at how the BPS system is awarding points for players outside of the "obvious" scoring. Not worth fleshing out into an article - but worth sharing for those interested.

    Removing all benefits players picked up from the following (goals scored, assists, clean sheets and penalty saves) these proved to be the most successful players in the statistical section (Sunday games pending verification) of the BPS tallying.

    7BPS - Ramires
    6BPS - Begovic, Mertesacker, Distin, Lovren, Vertonghen, Baines, Wilson, Paulinho, Chadli
    5 BPS - Guzan, O'Shea, Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry, Cahill, C. Davies, Figueroa, Elmohamady, A. Cole, Coleman, Lucas, Whittingham, Gerrard, Garvan, Koren, Hazard, Pienaar, Aspas, Soldado

    You can assess for yourself, but it looks evident -on very early inspection- the centre-backs are some of the players to make the most gain from this new bonus scoring system with some central midfielders and the odd wide man in amongst the mix.

    Roberto Soldado was the only notional striker to trouble this top bunch on their numbers game. Early days, but noticeable nonetheless.

    The BPS system does look like it's going to offer some added competitive balance to how the bonus points spread out. The likes of Lovren mopping up full bonus this week despite Rickie Lambert scoring the winning goal, something which seemingly would greatly benefit him beforehand.

      Nice Andy, thanks. I must say that I still prefer the original 'dartboard' method of allocating BAPs from a couple of years ago but at least this system makes things a little more interesting and balanced and seems better than last season's.

      I'm a bit confused that two players in the same match can now get +3 bonus (e.g. Lovren & Shaw). Is this going to be a regular thing? That's more bonus to go around.

      Yeah, I think we'll see certain players fairly regularly picking up the 1 or 2 baps. Defenders aren't often going to come away with all three though unless it's 0-0 or they themselves score. We are also probably going to see some games where a crazy total amount of baps are awarded, due to so many people being tied.

      The biggest difference for me is that players on the losing side now have a reasonable chance of scoring baps. Giroud coming out of the Arsenal-Villa game with 2 baps for instance, which I don't think would have happened under the old system.

    I think Ivanovic's BPS rating will be increased.

    He had 2 shots on goal in the first half that were counted yet.

      Yes, defo. I picked Lambert instead of Lukaku from the start because I knew this would have been a transfer to make. Went Terry-Haz-Oscar instead
