Heavy-hitting forwards delivered handsomely in Gameweek 9 and have come under considerable scrutiny as Fantasy managers look to freshen up their front lines. We also look at the oldest question in Fantasy Football history and catch up on all the action from our community leagues.

Hottest Topics

Reckoner – Early Trees Down has been pondering whether Wayne Rooney is worth his price tag. For that price he wants the prospect of braces and hat-tricks every now and again, but his research shows the Manchester United forward wanting. Read his analysis here to find out which players are the most likely to garner monster gameweek scores.

Sergio Aguero is another heavy-hitting forward attracting attention this week. Agbonlahorse warns that the Argentine forward may find himself substituted off the pitch earlier than many of his new owners anticipate when Manchester City host Norwich at the weekend, though. With a key Champions League match to play just days later, his analysis shows that Aguero is often found riding the pine in domestic matches before crunch European games.

Ahead of last weekend’s games Smarty Pants spent some time delving into the top 1000 in the Fantasy Premier League game. His research shows that among the most transferred out players inthis elite group were  Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure as well as Everton’s Ross Barkley.

With so many bargains in midfield and Romelu Lukaku also delivering up front does team value really matter as much this season? Among those to answer this question posed by Triggerlips were Zepinho who describes chasing transfer value this season with points hits as “folly.”

JohnDavies asked which so-called Comeback Kings among the Premier League’s injury list would tempt the community once they regain fitness. Fred Quimby has his eye on Philippe Coutinho, while Quish_ is ready and waiting to draft in Theo Walcott when he returns.

Finally one of the oldest questions in Fantasy Football popped up again courtesy of Syn3rgy. Just how much is success down to skill and how much is governed by luck?

Community Leagues

In HeelsOverHead’s Worst To First – 2 Million+ Club, for teams with an overall rank below 2 million in the first five Gameweeks, there are now seven teams in the top 500,000. YOLO Toure leads their long march to the top with an overall rank of 156,282.

TorresMagic’s Early Bird League has concluded with LawnDart and Stephen Woods both failing to make the cut. They get the title of joint runners up. His Last Man Standing competition lost 44 managers this week, leaving 660 in a week where the safety score was 54. There are also five more competitions available to enter. Full details can be found here.

In Thomass and Peppie&Felix’s Friends Life competition Beric, Daniel and Al Pacino are the league leaders. All three have now qualified for the next round, as have Thomass, TW and Koing Luther.

Those topping InTommyWe Trust’s All Things leagues are La Roja, Chilin Dude, LawnDart, Crouch Potato, Binij and Col Nil Satis. The first round draw for his All Things 50 Quid cup competition has also been made.

The It’s A Long And Winding Road competition continues at a canter with Beric topping the main league as well as one of its seven H2H leagues. The other H2H league leaders are Evs, Gaz Downright, IAmSuarez, Super-Hans, Champ and Adam West.

FFS UEFA’s Beach Soccer World Cup tournament’s first game proved disappointing for the Fantasy Football Scout moderator and contributor dominated Ukraine side who were soundly thrashed by Senegoal. The other winners were Spain, Tahiti, El Salvador, Iran, Solomon Islands, Paraguay and Japan. For more about the competition visit our dedicated article here.

Elsewhere in the FFS UEFA competitions their FA Cup tournament is now down to 40 players who will be joined by 24 Conference Premier players this weekend. Special mention goes to Spike and his giant killing Formby team, which is the only remaining 10th tier side in the competition.

i'll explain why i dont have Arsenal player

    -fixures shifting to City/Chelsa players

-Ramsey is owned by 2 much people and i dont wanna ,,cash'' his points (dont think that he will countinue that sort of form as well)

-Ozil is 2 expesive for his constant blanks

    - a lot of arsenal players can score

-Giroud is no match for explosive Aguero/Suarez

-and last and the most important thing was picking 1 of Rooney or Ozil and i picked Rooney

this move could backfire at me , but i am willing to take that risk cause if there is time too get rid of Arsenal players that is this gw

Risk is if that they go out and destroy a team Ozil, Giroud and Ramsey in his current form could deliver big points. Its unlikely with the tough fixtures coming up but it could happen 🙂

He's in tip-top physical condition & is raring to go... I sense a hallmark Fantasy score from him against Norwich in that the stars seem to have aligned in terms of his fitness, the team's setup to feed him, City's league position meaning they have to take the game very seriously...

Reckon he could hit the hallowed 20 point mark 🙂

Perhaps we need a 1 to 10 scale of niggles.

It would be good to know that RVP now has only a grade 2 niggle while Amalfitano has a grade 7 niggle.

Than Cazorla I think so as we don't know(yet) if he is nailed on, but Walcott could become a great alternative if he grabs his spot again.

Knowing Özil will be in 80% of the attacking plays makes it tough to ignore him as main Arsenal midfield target.

Don't captain either Brady or Morrison. Aguero or Suarez are better options this week based on form. Aguero edges it with his fixture.

    Would you like this?
as a new posibillity in next FPL season

You can sell certain player but dont need to buy new one at the same point...
So you could prevent yourself from losing money and postpone the decision who to bring in until the deadline
If you dont choose your replacement until deadline you keep your player that you wanted to transfer out but lose 1 point

    Opinions 🙂

Could you sell two players and only replace with one? Inevitably, people would sell two defenders and spend the cash on a big hitter forward.

i think you didnt understand it right
        For example

You want to transfer out Erisen who is droping like a stone
And you are not sure who to bring in Silva,Haz or Oscar foe example
So you can wait until after the cup games/CL games in midweek and decide on Friday/Saturday morning who to bring in

So once you transfer out you have to bring a new player in before the deadline. What if you don't? I guess your team could revert to how it was before you sold the first player.

Sounds OK but like a lot of ideas on here, they sound good to us 'hardcore' players but overcomplicate the game for the vast majority who don't have any insight into the price change market.

Yes its revert to how it was before but you lose 1 point for every transfer you didnt make..cause you have been influenting number of transfer out and teasing the FPL towers 🙂

Yeah you are right, its too complicated
But maybe it can be like some kind of reward for players that 'lose' more time on this game 🙂

I have often thought something like this would be good.

But I think the penalty for not putting in the replacement player before deadline would have to be greater, like the original player gets reinstated but at the original purchase value so profit is lost or perhaps an autofill replacement is put in. Otherwise people would gladly pay 1 point to "take out" 2 or more players at the start of the week as they are uncertain which they actually want to transfer out, letting two be reinstated at the end of the week.

This is pecking my head a little bit, can anyone make it simpler for me??

I want to downgrade one of Walker or Evra this week as part of a hit to get Aguero in.

Evra has the better fixture this week, but Walker has the better fixture next week.

If I ship Walker this week I would plan to ship Evra the week after for a Chelsea defender.

If I ship Evra this week I'd probably keep Walker next week.

If I sell Evra I have 5m to spend, if I sell Walker I have 4.6m to spend.

Rest of my defence is Neil Taylor, Chester and Koscielny.

      sell Evra then

tie breaker: Walker plays with a far superior goal keeper

Yeah, Walker better for defensive points, but Evra has been quietly chipping in with assists.*

You're advocating short term pain for long term gain then... not been very good at that so far this season, but you may have a point. Need to stop spending points at some point!

*Vaguely interesting side-point, he's top of the defender assists rankings with 2, tied with Riether, Enrique and Zabaleta. Not too many assists coming from fullbacks so far: 29 in total.

How much would selling Koscielny leave you with?

Assuming you'd still have 4.0, you could get Ben Turner and play these fixtures until Jan.

GW10: Evra (ful) + Taylor (car) + Chester (SUN) / Walker (eve)
GW11: Walker (NEW) + Taylor (STO) + Turner (avl)
GW12: Evra (car) + Taylor (ful) + Chester (CPL)
GW13: Evra (tot) + Walker (MNU) + Taylor (mnc) / Chester (LIV) - this gameweek is the catch
GW14: Walker (ful) + Taylor (NEW) + Evra (EVE) / Turner (sto)
GW15: Evra (NEW) + Walker (sun) + Taylor (HUL) / Turner (cpl)
GW16: Evra (avl) + Taylor (nor) + Chester (STO) / Turner (WBA)
GW17: Evra (WHU) + Chester (wba) + Taylor (EVE)
GW18: Evra (hul) + Walker (WBA) + Turner (SOU)
GW19: Evra (nor) + Walker (STO) + Taylor (avl) / Chester (FUL) / Turner (SUN)

Just an alternative idea as I consider Evra and Walker to be stronger than Koscielny personally. Obviously if you could find an opportunity to upgrade Turner again before GW13 then all the better.

For what it's worth, my defenders are all 5.0 or less as I tend to stick to the rotation / fixture frisking strategy in defence. Maybe you wouldn't want to do that with more expensive defenders in your team.

Ah that's a shame. I don't know if you like the idea though?

If you do, having Chester rules out the 3.9 Hull defenders meaning the only other viable option would be Nathan Baker, possibly. At a glance, I think he'd actually offer a better rotation than Turner would.

However, I haven't looked at Baker in any detail as I stick between 4.5 and 5.0 in defence generally but Villa do have a nice run of fixtures coming up and he has started 3 of the last 4. Though he only amassed 3 points in total during those games, it is worth noting they were against Man City, Spurs and Everton.

I don't know Villa's situation well enough to say if he'll get regular starts though, but might be worth looking into. I'm not necessarily recommending this, just trying to offer you an alternative. It is probably the case that you will prefer one of the other options from the following list and I am likely to agree with you.

          Koscielny + Walker + Touré/Distin*
          Koscielny + Evra + Rat/Clyne*
          Walker + Evra + Baker

          * Just examples in the appropriate price range.

Suarez is rising a lot slower than I was expecting after getting that hattrick. I got him in early certain he'd rise 0.3 by Saturday at the latest. Now it looks like it'll be 0.2 at best (probably with a later surge on Friday). Is it that he's an awkward price now at 11.6, the fixture or... er... just laziness? 🙂
