Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the eighth instalment of our open-to-all, free-to-enter Cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power.

This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty (no, really), Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch and reigning champion, Wild Rover – in our hall of fame.

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry. For full details of when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 11 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 11 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1017 (plus 7 previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 11 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 12. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 12

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 11
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Oscar, Ramsey, Brady, Morrison.

Michu out and 9.2m to spend.

Narrowed it down to Cabaye, Gerrard, Hazard, Sess, Lallana, Nasri, Janu, Arnie.....or Michu.

Shelvey playing CAM with Michu out?

I am in an almost identical position, only with Januzaj instead of Brady, and I might have to get Sess I think

Or Silva. He's burnt me before, but as I have Oscar, and can't afford to get Ozil back that might have to be the option. Wait, is Silva more than 9.2?

Ah, I see the problem. Well in that case Sess or Amalfitano. Prefer Sess as Amal is carrying a knock

Lallana - Southampton aren't scoring many and have really terrible fixtures after next week
Hazard - Wouldn't double on Chelsea mids
Gerrard - Hasn't scored from open play in 20+ league games
Nasri - Rotation with Navas likely, and doesn't seem a brilliant option anyway
Januzaj - Issues with game time, I own him and don't fancy him
Arnautovic - Stoke don't score many

Hmm, Cabaye though, he is a little tempting too

          Toss a coin, Sess/Cabaye

I never rated Michu as much as everyone else last year, was just waiting for this to happen. May happen FPL wise with Coutinho, but in my book he's a far better player.

I'd add Paulinho and Schürrle to the list. I expect that Paulinho is going to increase his scoring rate and that Schürrle is going to get increased game time. In your position I'd go for Cabaye, Gerrard or Paulinho.

Wow, I really like the look of your team, your rank and team value are great too

No Suarez could be a worry, but other than that it looks great

Coutinho did look a bit off the pace vs Arsenal, a few misplaced passes, but vs poorer defences he could do much better

Thanks, quite happy with my team atm!
And yes, Suarez is my biggest worry, got burnt badly last year by not having him, will get him after this GW if he's far superior to Sturridge again. (Won't get Silva then)

And yes, he did. But coming in for a game like that, against such a good team, after being sidelined for so long, i guess you couldn't expect more. I felt like it was the right time to take a punt with so few standout options.

I'm leaning to Silva and am weighing up the same decision myself. I think his fixtures are better and that Man City might go on a few more points rampages. I'm expecting Mourinho to rotate too, in part as punishment again his team for the last woeful performance.

im thinking this order;indeed oscar is more balanced , but haz is more explosiv and gives more pts per 90 min played.

    2--Oscar
    3--Silva
    4--yaya
    5--gerrard

Chelsea didn't look particularly convincing against Newcastle so he might get something!

Shit.. just realised i got brady vs CPL next week who i gotta start so sessegnon does not seem the ideal transfer in as he has a bad fixture this week and AVL next and i cant bench him for that.. Januzaj it may be

Considering most people in my league will captain suarez. Should I do ozil and sturridge to Hazzard and suarez. Already have aguero and Rooney. I also have oscar and thinking of oscar to Ramsey next week. Should I pull the trigger or wait. Suarez is on d rise again. Can omly afford if he rises only .2 this week. Thanks in advance. This game does my head in

    2FTs, 0.1m in the bank

    Migs Lewis

    Dawson Chico Clyne Burner Wilson

    Ozil Oscar Barkley Brady Michu

    Rooney Sturridge Giroud

    Is this a good idea?

    Michu + Sturridge + Giroud -> Morrison + Suarez + Aguero (-4)

    @ Daniel

R Morrison is intriguing but plays for side who is so negative and doesn't score many goals. Sure he is cheap pick but I really don't think he will get many pts due to west ham being so defensive minded

Carroll coming back will help their prospects. Big sam likes lobbing it up to the big man. Raavel will feed off him.

3pts every week would be good value for him. West Ham's defensive style is a good thing 🙂

3 points from a midfielder is a "haul" nowadays.

stop it with the coutinho burnt alot of people thing those 4 fixtures were hard games not only that he had only sturrigde to pass to he now has suarez. coutinho will kill it starting this week. you don't get 3 gls and 7 assist in 900 mins last yr and not be a capable fpl scorer, not only that he's now priced at what he should be so people should stop being sheep.

The pool of players to pick from this year is shocking. Only 4/5 midfielders worth having and now everyone has the standard Rooney/Kun/Suarez up front.

    Bring back last season.
