Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the eighth instalment of our open-to-all, free-to-enter Cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power.

This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty (no, really), Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch and reigning champion, Wild Rover – in our hall of fame.

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry. For full details of when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 11 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 11 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1017 (plus 7 previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 11 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 12. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 12

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 11
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Michu & Giroud -> Ravel & Suarez (c) (-4)

It's a 0.3 swing if I don't do it tonight -what do you think?

Will mean playing Studge and Suarez vs Ful which could be good....

No one with Suarez is going to captain Aguero this week.

This is the same argument that was being made about RVP. It's about team balance too. With unlimited funds of course I would pick Aguero.

im not talking about this week though. having suarez and ageuro both gives you captaincy options every week IMO. both are explosive and seem to be firing

Rooney and Lukaku are also both explosive.

This happens every season. There is a huge obsession with individual players that are marked as 'essential' and it pressurises people into giving up what they've got. Aguero is on a hot streak right now but he's also unreliable when it comes to injuries and playing time.

    a) Silva

    d) Cheeky punt of Theo. Should be back after intl break and I can play 4-3-3 next week.

Here is my analysis of Michu replacements:

    BIG HITTING MIDS

Silva - Not convinced, rather have aguero. Double up is too much in my opinion

Coutinho - Not ever going there again. Was awful v arsenal too. Not sure why people are jumping on this bandwagon. Maybe they want to experience pain and heartbreak.

Hazard/Oscar - Not for the faint hearted, bring them in if you like the excitement of demi time

Yaya - Too expensive now, plus such a boring pick

Ozil - Very good pick but bit expensive. Fixtures are decent after united until GW 16. If you are going for an arsenal midfielder I would wait for walcott news as I think he will flourish with ozil feeding him.

Cazorla - Interesting pick but a bit expensive for his returns. Advise to wait for walcott news and get walcott if he is fit

Gerrard - Not shown enough to warrant being in anyones team

    7.5m and below

Barkley - In and out of the team now, rotation risk

Ramsey - Done great so far but there is a problem. Walcott, Ox, Flamini, podolski all to return and can play in midfield. Expect to see ramsey minutes lessen and see him sit out some games to give him a rest more than anything. Yes he is playing great but he won't be playing every game after injured players return. Good pick for next 2-3 weeks.

R Morrison - Will be lucky if west ham score a goal, don't get him expecting anything more than 2-3 pts every week

Almafatino - Decent pick I guess. With Brunt back Alma is now off most set pieces which was one of his upsides.

Arnautovic - Plays for stoke. Enough said

Whittingham - Ticks along with 2-3pts most weeks. Tough fixtures to come though

Janusaj - Might be a good pick but don't expect him to start every week

Lallana - Awful fixtures upcoming. Southampton don't score enough goals anyway to warrant a transfer in

JWP - May lose his place to Davies when he returns, bad fixtures

    BEMBA's long term pick

Sessegnon - Proven FPL talent, seems to enjoy his place in West Brom side. He is one of these players who can create something out of nothing. Very exciting pick. Fixtures after chelsea read ASTON VILLA newcastle MAN CITY NORWICH cardiff HULL. On paper the most difficult fixture is Man city at home and that is at home too where I expect West Brom to cause them problems

    Bemba's next 2-3 gw pick

Cabaye - Has scored or assisted in all 3 of the home games he has featured in this season. After spurs away he has 2 home games v Norwich and West Brom. Expect points here.

    Posting again. Just 1 reply

Does this look ok after using 2 FT? 0.5 in bank

    Michu to Ramsey
    Giroud to Aguero

as Front three heavy so rest of team suffers esp midf. Unless heavy hitters inc Ozil can make up for that

    Migs (Kdavies)
    Nastasic, Coleman, Clyne (B.Turner, Chico)
    Ozil, Ramsey,R.Morrison,Barkley (Whittingham)

Here is my team with FT used -

    Boruc (HUL)

Clyne (HUL) - Coleman (cry) - Zabaleta (sun)

Gerrard (FUL) - Ozil (mun) - Silva (sun) - Whittingham (avl)

Benteke (CAR) - Lukaku (cry) - Suarez (FUL)

Bench: Camp - Amilfitano - Jones - Chester

Don't want to play Whittingham or anyone on the bench!

    Could:

    a) go 4 at back and replace Chester with a 4.6 budget
    b) Do Whittingham/Amilfitano out with a 5.7/5.8 budget

Which one and who to get in?

    Thanks folks

Pieters, Clyne and Rat are not CB's. Play the baps to your advantage and not just the choice of teams.

Yaya and Ramsey are the only on form midfielders and you have ignored both.

Clearly this is all about that strikeforce, which makes sense, but no reason to go big in midfield too when there are no points on offer. Guzan and Marshall is just weak.

    Özil - Januzaj - Ramsey - Michu - Barkley

    Giroud - Lukaku - Suárez

    1FT, 0.7 in bank

I wouldf like to get Aguero but can't afford it easily. Thinking maybe to do:

Michu, Ozil --> Oscar, Silva (-4)

The following week Man City Tottenham anyway. Good plan, or is Silva no substitute for Aguero?
    Alternative would be something like:

Giroud, Ozil --> Aguero, 8.5 (-4) (e.g. Nasri, Siggy, Paulinho, Lallana, Mirallas)

Which looks better-- any thoughts would be really appreciated

I had him for all of them, but he's not been looking too sharp lately compared to the others. Its not about Lukaku not being good, its about the other strikers being better.

If money isn't a factor, would you really choose Lukaku over SaS, Aguero or Rooney? Seeing how the high priced midfielders is performing, moneys to spend up front isn't a problem for me at least.

I choose Lukaku over Sturridge for sure.

You're clearly attempting to pass on your message about Aguero being the 'must have' player but that's how you want your team set up, and it doesn't necessarily suit me. Silva will cover a large proportion of Aguero points and that's fine because I have the midfield slots spare.

Not trying to pass on anything, just speaking my opinion! Can see Lukaku over Sturridge, probably getting Suarez over Sturridge soon anyways.

To be honest im too afraid to go without Liv coverage and Aguero anyways, burnt me so bad over the last couple of year, i won't let it happen again.
