The team statistics section of the OPTA data available to Members can easily be overlooked. There’s just so much information to mined on players, Members will be forgiven for failing to take in the statistics measuring team performance.

In this week’s Numbers Game, we take a look at that team data for the weekend and trace some patterns and trends which could shape our team selections for the season run-in.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hi guys, question:
What are your fellings on Anelka role? Will he play against United today and 2leg, or he will be more involved in the Wigan game and the double of the week after?

I'm considering him for the DGW, just waiting for the next 2 matches and then will decide next week. I suggest you do this also, too much of a risk to get in this weekend, but by next week we might know more...

    Got 2 question.
Who to lose to get in Lampard? Nani, Young, VdV or Nasri?
    and Rooney > ?
now I got 0.8m in the bank, and will do Coleman > Luiz after transferred Rooney.

on totalfpl someone wrote about future promoted teams players

    - Adel Taarabt - The stats certainly back this up as shown by Taarabt's 15 goals and 19 assists in the league this season. To put it into perspective, Qpr have scored 63 goals in the league so far this season, and Taarabt has played a part in 34 of them.

    - max gradel - Gradel has scored an astonishing 16 goals in the league thus far giving him an impressive ratio of almost a goal every 2 games for the whites this season, And if you thought that wasn't enough Gradel has also got 5 assists under his belt in the league.

they seem pretty sweet, i think i'd only get taarabt though if the season started tomorrow

I've heard Taarabt might "find it difficult among the shrewder defenders of the Premier League".

That said, promoted teams seem to do a lot better in the early part of the season. Perhaps a combination of underestimation and a lack of tactical information?

If you watched the game on Monday night you'll find he did track back several times.

However, Warnock is aware of this issue and has said he and Taarabt will discuss it in the off season.

With no disrespect to any of the other Championship players referred to from previous years none of them even remotely have Taarabt's skill set.

Even Modric, I believe, thought Taarabt was the most skilful player in Spurs squad when he was there.

You also may want to keep an eye out for Faurlin. I keep saying this every time Taarabt's name comes up because I think Faurlin is going be one hell of a player.

    Begovic/Mignolet
    Smalling/Carr/Kelly/Walker/Luiz
    Fabregas/Young A/Lampard/Gardner/Adam
    Rooney/Gyan/Van Persie

Plan was to hold on to Rooney until GW33, then change to chelsea forward until GW35 then Tevez for the run in. Do i

A - Hold fire, stick to plan
    b - Rooney>Torres now (Free)

How many DGW's are people going for in GW33 and GW34?

Personally this is my plan, inlcuding subs without any point hits.

        GW33: DGW's: Chelsea (Lampard, Luiz)
        Arsenal (RVP)
        Birmingham (Zigic, RJ)

        GW34: DGW's: Wolves()
        Stoke (Bergovic)
        Fulham (Zamora)
        Bolton ()

Think I've decided on my transfers for this week, but for next week I need to sort out my defence.

Currently: Luiz - Huth - Kolarov - Coleman - Djourou

Who should I ship out, and who to ship in?

At the moment, thinking of getting rid of Coleman, Djourou, and possibly Huth. Looking at Dawson, R.Johnson, Samba. Thoughts?

How many DGW’s are people going for in GW33 and GW34?

Personally this is my plan, inlcuding subs without any point hits.

    GW33: DGW’s: Chelsea (Lampard, Luiz)
    Arsenal (RVP)
    Birmingham (Zigic, RJ)

    GW34: DGW’s: Wolves()
    Stoke (Bergovic)
    Fulham (Zamora)
    Bolton ()

      33
      Chelsea (luiz,terry,lamp/drog)
      arsenal(rvp,nasri)
      birmingham(foster,zigic)

      34
      wolves(ohara)
      stoke(begovic)
sturridge or zamora for a possible hit.

      Lamps, Luiz, Cole
      RVP, Theo
      Foster, RJ

      Probably 2-3 of
Huth, Hangeland, O'Hara, Dempsey and Zamora to get in the week after.

I think you are right, getting rid is not the worst decision. However I want him for this GW. But with a tough champions league games and FA Cup to come it may not be the worst decision in the world. I think with Rooney out United goal threat is really only the mexican lad so this may be good and bad for Nani owners.

To Dbr: This will obviously be taken as a criticism of United, but when I got Nani and Vidic in, pretty much every other midfield/defender pairing that I was considering have done a hell of a lot better.

Unless you strike Rooney when he's banging in a hat-trick, or Berbasloth when he's firing in five, Man Utd have been a Fantasy disaster this season. People with Evra must be hanging themselves...

Exactly. You can put a world-class player like Giggs in your side and have the most frustrating season ever. Someone like Fletcher could/should be Fantasy gold, and he's not even Fantasy lead.

Obviously, there is still the footballing genius that is Carrick...

Ronaldo was very frustrating 2 years ago. The season before he blew everyone else out of the water, but in 08/09 he was very overpriced and unpredictable.

Man U's defence has been solid usually, but Ferdinand's always injured and the right back spot is rotation-filled.

Evra, Vidic and Rooney (or this season Nani) are the only ones ever worth looking at.

i really need terry as my defence sucks. that leaves me with this major decision between lamps and drogba. i could get them both(drog n lamp) but i think i really need terry before any of those two.
drogbas minutes over ast 5 gws are bad, but im hoping ancelotti notices that drogba scored when he got his 90 minutes. i have never been so desparate to know the starting xi in ancelottis friday interview.

I backed Watney, so Johnson! The last major winner I backed was Retief Goosen at 150/1 about a million years ago.

Whats the thoughts on Chelsea defenders from what I can tell:
Luiz - best bet, price and CL ineligibility.
Terry - Should be fine, pop up with a header now and then.
Cole - not a rotation risk. possible assist/BPs especially in easier games.
Ivan - Too much of a risk despite goal possibility - stay away.
Bosngwa - Uncertain to start despite being very cheap and with possible attacking chances. A worse version of Lolarov.

If everything goes according to plan I'll have both Cole and Luiz for GW33. Outside of Cole, Luiz or Terry I'd have Cech rather than Ivan or Bosingwa

        Yeh that my plan also.
        Cole over Terry just about.
Have Foster otherwise I'd probably go Cech.

Well look at this, Ferguson does what United fans absolutely slaughtered Arsene Wenger for - saying they can win the treble. Yes I know it's not exactly the same thing, but it's close!

"It is 14 games in two months if everything goes our way and, at United, we are used to this kind of thing, which is to our advantage. In the past I have said many times that to win just one trophy would be great. But we have to take the chance of winning all three now. We can repeat the treble of 1999."

I was very surprised to see that. Wenger saying it, having won nothing for 5 years, was funnier, though.

Anyone else finding they are .1 or .2 off their "perfect" team right now? Every combination I try is just a little too expensive so it means going back to the drawing board.

Have 2 freebies, and am tempted to go all out and burn 8 this week in advance of DGW, Drogba/Lampard/Walcott/RVP are all on my list in particular, if Drogba plays tonight I will be more convinced to play at the weekend.

I think in order of priority, for me, those transfers would be

      RVP/Lampard/Walcott/Drogba

Personally I can't really see the attraction of Drogba

I'm about 3.0 away from my perfect team, so no.

Think it might be a good idea to go for it and load up on the Chelsea dudes JU. I like Walcott too.
