While Luis Suarez failed to match the performance and points tally of his devastating midweek showing, the Uruguayan did more than enough to justify the Fantasy armband as his dragged Liverpool to another four goals and three points at Anfield. Elsewhere, Norwich City’s rollercoaster season continued, with a Dutch raider coming to the fore to emerge as the latest midfield differential to consider.

The Game Changer

He’s making it look easy. Just as Robin van Persie threatened to kill off the art of the Fantasy Football captaincy in previous seasons, Luis Suarez is doing all he can to remove the skill and insight required to make that crucial decision each week.

Quite frankly, it’s a brave Fantasy manager that overlooks Suarez. Even on an off-day, his threat to the opposition is so substantial, Suarez almost accumulates points almost through force of will. Today, against West Ham, the Liverpool striker produced a far from vintage display – missing opportunities and being phased out of the match by some disciplined early defending from the visitors.

However, a fortuitous own goal, from which Suarez earned one of two assists, handed Liverpool their opener and that paved the way for another comfortable Anfield victory and another double figure Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points haul for Suarez.

While Aguero, the nearest rival to Suarez’s claim for the armband, notched once again, Suarez is set to outscore him with a sixth double figure points tally in ten league starts. Fourteen league goals and seven assists, over those matches underlines the fact that Suarez is as near to an essential Fantasy asset as any player is likely to become this season.

The Underused

Leroy Fer’s third league goal in five starts must surely bring him to the attention of the Fantasy masses. While we’ve long been acquainted with the erratic returns of team-mate Robert Snodgrass and the budget potential of the tricky Nathan Redmond, it’s Fer who appears to carry the greatest potential for points amongst Chris Hughton’s inconsistent charges.

Owned by less than 1% of FPL managers, the Dutchman’s raids from midfield have been a recent feature of the Canaries play – a benefit of a formation change from Hughton that has fielded Bradley Johnson and Jonny Howson in central midfield, allowing Fer the freedom to support the lone striker. That’s brought three goals for and, even with a price tag of 5.8 in the FPL, it’s surely time to consider Fer as a credible short-term option as Norwich embark on a run of three home fixtures in four: Swansea, Fulham and a beleaguered United due at Carrow Road before the turn of the year.

André Schürrle was the day’s other big points scorer, although his brace at Stoke was not enough to prevent Jose Mourinho’s side slipping to a damaging 3-2 setback. At just 7.1 in the FPL, we’ve long looked upon the German as a potential differential who could offer value as the season progresses. While today’s haul was his biggest of the season, it was also his first league start in six as Mourinho’s midfield continues to tease and toy with Fantasy managers attempting to identify alternatives to the established targets – Oscar and Eden Hazard. In truth, it seems unlikely that we will ever get assurance of a third candidate, even Frank Lampard was rested back to the bench today to frustrate his recent investors.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

We expected United to win today (Kinda), Chelsea to keep a clean sheet (sorta), Palace vs Cardiff to be 0-0 (half right).

This morning the thought of Lukaku putting three past Arsenal seemed unlikely... I may be very glad I own him come tomorrow evening!

I'm not sure if any big names will be willing to sign for United in January.

Way down the league table and Moyes in charge is not a good combination to lure players.

gw16 squad with 0.5 in bank

    Mignolet, Boruc
    Skrtel, Terry, Mert, Clyne, Burner
    Hazard, Ozil, Ramsey, Cabaye, Oviedo
    Suarez, Aguero, Remy

Injuries/suspensions - Boruc (keeping), Clyne (est to be back this week so keeping), Cabaye (1 week susp. so keeping)
G/K - Mignolet has Cardiff in gw17 so will keep & maybe sell gw18.
Defense - Skrtel seems the one to get rid (my double Liv defense punt was a fail). Terry is really letting the team down but with Palace (h) this week he is safe. Mert has 2 hard games after this gw (Man C & Chel) but then good fixtures follow so he is safe.
    Midfield - No changes necessary
Forwards - Happy with Remy as Newcastle have Sou (h), Palace (a), Stoke (h) in next 3. Possible change to Lukaku if he underperforms.

So there is only one change as I see it this week.

Skrtel out & either Jagielka, Coleman or Distin in but which one? Suggestions & thanks in advance.

He has got to score big with those fixtures. I'm thinking Aguero might be the 1 to go. The other 2 are more likely to get the full 90. Getting sick of Agueros 60 minute games

dropping Lovren for Jags (bonus + bps potential) best right?

Those doing Migs--->Howard, do you have Coleman or another Everton defender?

So tempted by the double up (have Coleman too and no Everton mids or Lukaku) and keep Sess for another week even though I want to dump him

I've been thinking of this for ages! I bought Ward 2 weeks ago, and so it's frustrating seeing Gabbidon go up!! I think the best explanation will be Gabbidon will have more overall points, and so they will just click on Palace defenders, and go straight to the highest scoring one.

Well three early transfers for me

    Out : Ozil, Townsend, Zabs

In : Oscar , Silva, Distin

I appreciate it's risky , but allows me to field three heay hitters : Oscar, Silva, Walcott and one out of Barkley / Morrison - though they will be leaving shortly

        My mid before was

Barkley, Townsend , ozil, Walcott , ravel,

Apart from Ozil and possibly Ravel the others are far from certain to start even when fit.

I agree it is a bit early but it saved me going Townsend to Shelvey to Silva ...... This way i can now look to sort my defence out

    Howard (Boruc)
    Coleman Chico Dawson (Clyne) (Chambers)
    Ramsey Redmond Gerrard Januzai (Cabaye)
    Rooney Suarez Aguero

Had 2 free transfers. Have used one already to do Migs -> Howard. Really wanted to get Yaya in for Stevie G as for some strange reason, he seems to be a differential in my mini league but Im 0.1 short.
Looking at my team, do you think its strong enough as it is so i can have 2 FT's next week and get in Yaya or do I need to invest elsewhere?
