The Members’ Paddy Power Cup had it’s Grand Final this past Gameweek, where Kippax Kloggers and The Hunt went head-to-head. At stake was a great prize of £150 worth of free bets from sponsors Paddy Power for the winner, with the runner-up having to make do with a consolation prize of £75 worth of free bets. Also in action this week was Zophar and Roostars, competing for the third-place. This is how it all played out…

Kippax Kloggers 114 – 89 The Hunt

On any other week a 25-point winning margin would be considered an absolute drubbing, but Wednesday’s Fantasy points-fest makes the gap a little unfair on The Hunt. The tie did appear all-but-over before the midweek action though, when Kippax Kloggers pulled out well-reserved wildcard, but a strong Florent Malouda showing on that final day secured the win for him, who now sits at a season-high 991st in the world. Congratulations Kippax Kloggers, but please take care of your new trophy better than Sergio Ramos did his.

Zophar 80 – 85 Roostars

Our third-placed play-off was a much tighter affair, and it somewhat highlights how well both our finalists did this week. Roostars has his forward-planning to thank for his victory, as his score of 85 didn’t come after having points spent on transfers deducted.

This is a tough round for decisions. Not knowing if Nani or Adam will play. Having 2 free transfers, but besides Nasri no real certainties for wanting to get rid of players. Too far away from GW36 to focus on City players.

        I think that IH will force Adam to play, even if he's on crutches, bandaged up or is missing a limb or two. He'd probably be forced to play if decapitated.
        
        Just can't see him as a good bet for the run in. I really love to watch Blackpool and it will be a massive shame if they go down, but I think they will, and Adam doesn't need to put himself in the shop window any more because everyone's after him.
        
        So not a good bet, all things considered.

        Sure, but people shouldn't be deciding their captains that way. If I'm chasing a lead and RVP is the best captain choice, I'm captaining him, and looking to make my lead up with the rest of my XI.

        I disagree. I've been doing the same thing for the last few weeks and have been making about 5 points up on my arch nemesis per week.
        
        With only 5 weeks remaining then that isn't going to gain me any ground since he is 61 points ahead of me and we have picked the same captains for the past 4 weeks.
        
        If I'd captained different players from him (and therein lies the risk) rather than going for the obvious choice, then the gap would have been narrowed to 2 points given that I had chosen the right players.
        
        I appreciate your POV, but earlier in the season you pointed out that your captains choices had been poor, so I think you know how important they are.
        
        It makes a massive difference, every week, and taking risks with your captain choice is more important now if you want to catch up.
        
        Anyway. Off my soapbox before I start frothing at the mouth and falling ove...woah!

What would you do?
A. Nothing
B. Adam>Ethers (-4)
C. Nani>VdV (-4)

B would only be shortterm, I fancy Ethers to outscore Adam over the next 2 GW, as BLP seem to have completely lost it. (no rival behind me has Adam, so it's not that risky for a hit)
C would be more longterm as I want to bring VdV for the DGW anyway. Downside is che next week.

  You have two options as I see it:
  
  A: Nani > O'Hara; bench Zigic (bit of cash to splash next week).
  B: Zigic > Zamora; bench Nani.
  
  With either A or B, Cech may still outscore Begovic; then bench Carr & Simpson.

just did Adam -> Ethers, so my current team as below:

Begovic
Walker, Huth, Luiz
Young A, Nani, Lampard, Walcott, Ethers(C)
RVP, Bent

Foster, Welbeck, Johnson R, Coleman

=============

should i take 4 point hits to do Welbeck -> Zamora?
if yes, which MF should i bench?
and captain Ethers is a gamble?

  A lot of people (including me) have the problem of a very eligible front 8 this week. Benching Wellbeck would immediately sort out your problem.
  
  Etherington (c) is a bold shout btw. Good luck with that. I don't think Stoke will win either game.

  I don't think he'll play v Everton - with such uncertainty over his starting role, I agree you need to do one thing or the other.

        Slight risk Nasri may get dropped here. I know it sounds unlikely but he looks like he is running out of steam a bit? And as much as I dislike Arshavin he does look fresher now. Fabregas to run riot this week.

Do people believe Adam will play this week? The article says he is likely to.

Guys, need some advice!!

My current team is:

Al-Habsi (Foster)
Luiz Vidic Walker (Coleman) (Kelly)
Barton Nani Fabregas Adam Lampard(C)
RVP Carroll (Odemwingie)

I have 1.4M in the bank.

My current idea was to bring in Begovic for Al-Habsi, then perhaps bring in Hangeland for Coleman?

I wanted to get in either Zamora or Etherington but if so would be looking to either take out Barton (Blackpool away) or Odemwingie and further I wouldn't even know how to bench given that Adam if fit to play!

Any ideas on what transfers I should do?!

    Very unsure on this Dempsey talk - where is he playing atm?
    
    I could see the appeal early in the season when he played up front but I thought he's been dropped back now the strikers have returned?
    
    If Zamora plays he's alot less likely to 1. Score and 2. Get bonus.
    
    And Fulhams fixtures don't exactly scream goals after the DGW. He's on the radar but I struggle to see him as 'must have'.

    Blackpool have only one plan, attack, and everything goes through him. He's a bonus magnet, on set pieces, and (if not injured) a 100% sure fire starter. Surely you have bigger issues people?!
