Focusing on those players with more than two appearances in the last four gameweeks, we’ve not only picked out those high-performance headline hoggers, but have also identified some others who appear to be on the verge of picking up the plaudits (and subsequent Fantasy Premier League -FPL- points) for displays that have not yet brought reward. Here’s a closer look at the OPTA stats on show…
My Team:
Foster (Begovic)
Evra Luiz Walker (Simpson R.johnson)
Kuyt Adam Silva Yaya Lamp
Rvp Sturr (odem)
any Changes to Make ?
What should be The Subs order ?
Who to Cap ?Open ControlsI'd captain a Chelsea player this week.
Tottenham are really leaky at the back, and the game will likely be frantic and open with lots of goals.
Fat Frank for the arm band from me, although I'd captain Kuyt if I had him.Open ControlsIts one of Ballotelli , Adam or Lampard pour moi.
Leaning towards the former choiceOpen ControlsAre you captaining him MF? I've got a feeling about him scoring big this week for some reason.
Open Controlsyeah, why not.
Carroll's fitness is still an issue, and no one else is really tickling my fancy.
There will be one week where he'll explode. Might as well give it a try.Open ControlsWest Ham are bound to score on the law of averages. ( i recall saying something similar regarding kelly and wigan at anfield and it being spot on)
Open ControlsWell if you said it about Liverpool-Wigan (I do remember that), then law of averages says you're going to be wrong about this one.
Open ControlsLaw of averages not based on blind assumption but interpreting that City have kept a few cleansheets recently , west ham havent scored much and need to .
West ham will score....Open ControlsSo City are due conceding, and West Ham are due a goal?
🙄Open ControlsIts certainly not based on certainty.
The due arguement in cleansheets has substance. Not on individual players mind but on the collective.
More games, more chances , harder to keep cleansheet.....plus the fact west ham need to score more so that sit back and be conservative. This game says the possibility to score is more than normalOpen Controlswest ham need to score more so that sit back and be conservative.
That is the only thing here that makes any sense.
Probabality of keeping five consecutive clean sheets (from the outset) ≠ the probability of keeping the fifth clean sheet, after keeping the first four.
I can't believe that you are trying to argue this.....Open Controls+1 dbr is arguing very senselessly and contradicting himself. agree with jamsiep there.
Open Controls
link it or no one is going to believe u 😉 and wtf is 'law of averages'?
Open ControlsProbability boom
Me and Mf had conversation few months back regarding Liverpools cleansheet run.
They had 4 in a row and I maintained the probability the likely hood of a 5th was lower than normal. Given the more games means more chances and possibilities to concede or make mistakesOpen ControlsYou may have been right, but the logic is still flawed.
Whether Man City keep a clean sheet on Sunday is mutually exclusive to whether they did in any of their last few games. If anything it indicates form in favour of Man City keeping another clean sheet.
Oh and by the way, that Wigan goal was offside anyway.Open Controls😉
Open Controls
can i just chip in here and say liverpool kept a load of clean sheets, agger got injured then they conceeded against wigan. it's the danish law of penetration
Open ControlsGreat stamina on the RBJ namery (new word)
Open Controls
Law of Averages .. hahahahahahaha
Open ControlsIts not been 6 days yet.....
Open Controlsby the reverse of this law newcastle will win the premier league next season as they've gone so long without winning it and west brom are the most likely to get a clean sheet this gameweek
Open Controls
Keep switching between Lamps and Adam. 😕
Open ControlsJust a hunch.
Tottenham are a very gung-ho side, although without Van Der Vaart, they may be slightly more conservative.
I can't see this being a 0-0 draw in any case. Both teams need to win, and won't be happy with a draw.Open ControlsWithout Van der Vaart? Have I missed something here....
Anyway, games in recent history between the two sides at Stamford Bridge haven't been too high-scoring. Tottenham's recent defensive record isn't nearly as bad as people like to make out, and they also haven't scored as many goals as people seem to think.Open ControlsHe's a doubt I heard, but will probably play.
Best if he plays, because then Tottenham are slightly weaker at the back and more aggressive up front.
Tottenham's last 3 games have seen them concede 7 goals, all at home against Stoke, West Brom and Arsenal.
They keep clean sheets away I suppose, but against a rejuvenated Chelsea team, I would be surprised if they didn't concede.Open Controls
What man city coverage will you have for this gameweek/
Open Controlssilva, balotelli, yaya, and a nervous breakdown
Open Controls
tottenham being really leaky at the back is a bit of a misconception i think. Everyone says it, but it's not really true this season.
Open ControlsI was also planning on captaining Fat Frank until I looked at his recent record (since 2002) v Tottenham: 2 goals, 1 assist (out of 19 Chelsea league goals) at Stamford Bridge isn't much to write home about. History isn't everything but I was quite surprised and depending on whether Carlo/Roman is picking the team, Lampard could be playing deeper than recent games if Torres and Drogba are paired together.
Open Controls
2k transferred out RVP why?
Open Controlsof the 2 cheap Liverpool defenders, can I nab one and count on them til end of season? Is one better or more likely to play rest of matches? Is Kelly gonna return and put em both on bench?
I can just afford to bring in Flanagan and Kuyt for Ethers and Assou-Ekotto(don't ask) out.
thoughts?Open ControlsArsenal have scored 1 goal in the last 3 games at the Emirates (a penalty, which indeed RVP scored) but know their playing United at home and not a great run beyond that!
(No way i'd get rid though..)Open Controlsthanks all, hard to decipher this unkown world of EPL futbol from the states
Open Controls
Hi Guys
Do you think Vidic is guaranteed to start on Sunday or what percentage would you give him?Open Controlshe is our captain and he will start no doubt about it what so ever...
Open Controls
Liverpool and Kuyt reverting to type low scoring would be welcome this week
I refuse to jump on his excellent form after being burned by not doing so earlier.
A silly stance which will no doubt cost me yet more points 😉
Dear Newcastle please turn up.Open ControlsThanks Guys For helping Me All the Season This is My First Season In this Site...Special Credit goes to Camzy Due to Him only I get to Know This Site.....
Open Controls4 gameweeks left until the acceptance speeches!
Open Controls
My forwards are:
Adam Ethers Nani Lamps Young
Zamora RVP Sturridge
Think my freebie is definitely gonna be Ethers - Yaya.
Should I do either of these for a hit, and which one?
Zamora - Odem
Nani - Kuyt
Cheers.Open ControlsYeah that's what I was thinking, and bench Sturridge yeah?
Just a bit worried about Kuyt after last week.Open Controls
4/6 of my attacking players play on sunday. For some reason i hate this!
Open ControlsHi Guys
If you had the choice who would you bench
Simpson or VidicOpen ControlsLooking at my team the only transfers I can imagine are:
Carroll -> Odem
Nasri -> Silva
Nani -> Kuyt/Yaya
Are they good? Probably I won't do the Nani one cause I need a spot for VDV next week...Open Controlsyes theyre all good i think. I like the second one best
Open Controls
Thinking of spending 4 points on Young OUT Silva/Sessegnon IN, and benching VDV in this team:
Foster
Carr/Luiz/Terry (JP, you convinced me)
Adam/Malouda/*Young/Ya Ya
Odemwingie/Rooney(C)/RVP
Bego/Huth/VDV/Walker
Have 2.4 in the bank, madness?Open ControlsI was about to say don't bench vdv but looking at your team i dunno who i'd bench!
Open ControlsYoung out, Silva in is something I'm considering.
I don't have any City coverage and I'd like to have something to be interested in on Sunday evening.Open ControlsHow many moves you done this week JP, I am afraid I have an itch to spend 4 points this week when I dont really have to? YOu transfered out VDV?
Open Controls4! For an eight point hit....
Definitely not getting rid of VDV, no sense in doing so with his double next week. I needed to make some moves because I was stuck with Wilshere, Dembele and VDV (who I really don't want to play).
Was initially planning on just the three changes, but Yaya going up last night has scuppered that plan, had to now downgrade Terry to Kolarov.
Foster
Luiz Terry Kolarov
Lampard Silva Yaya Adam
RVP Bent Suarez (c)
As for Young, he's an absolute nightmare to own because his scoring is so unpredictable. He's returned little in recent weeks in spite of the fixtures, but he's still got the potential to score well in any given week. I'd still probably get rid though, for Silva.Open Controls
Ahhh looking forward to the scout picks later.
They always encourage me to take hits 😀 Anyone else find this?Open ControlsIf this is true, I guess you can thank the scouts for your excellent rating this season!
Open Controls
Should I double up on Chelsea defence with Luiz and Terry, or bench one and play Huth (blp) or Djourou (MUN) instead?
Open ControlsWhy is everyone considering Adam as (c)??
To me, he's not really playing well, no BPs in last three games and 1 assist, as well as giving the ball away lots.
Yes he is at home, but Stoke are playing well, and will want to keep momentum before the FACup.
His delivery from set pieces will be nulliifed by Stokes height at defending these set pieces imo.
I have him but (c) No no!Open ControlsWho would you rather sell out of Drogba or RVP?
This GW's decisions are starting to kill me now 🙁Open ControlsNo one considering Dzeko then after getting his first goal in midweek? Could be a great differential imo. Don't think I'll have the balls to actually do it though,
Open ControlsIve gone with Balotelli as he is more risky, but more flexible, so less rotation prone.
City's style of play does not suit Dzeko at the momentOpen Controlsme too. I think balotelli has been labelled a flop unfairly. He's scored 6 in 12 starts, despite having no chance to build up a bit of momentum
Dzeko, contrastingly, has been TERRIBLE (but i still think he's a good player)Open Controls
Foster(Begovic)
Luiz RJ ACole (Huth Clark)
Yaya Young Lampard Adam Nani
Chicarito RVP (Zamora)
Already made my free transfer.
2.8 in bank
Was thinking getting Odem for Zamora and somehow getting Kuyt
What do you guys think?Open Controls3/1 on Williams out right isnt looking too shabby right now
Open ControlsWhen did you get that? Can't see Higgins getting back into this game.
Open ControlsI am writing him off. What are you going to do about it? 😛
Open Controls
After following the wisdom of RBJ, got on Ding to beat Trump @ 15/8, when the score was 3-1. Pretty high odds considering that so little of the game had actually been played.
Open Controlsi think that 15/8 bet was probably an example of people who'd backed ding before the match trying to hedge their bets.
Bad strategy in the long run though but everyone does itOpen Controls
Earliest time on Friday since the early weeks that team is done. Who to captain? I fancy a ballotelli punt.
Fos
Johnson, Luiz,Flanagan
Adam, VDV,Lamps,Nani,
Balo,RVP,Rooney
Subs ,Djourou,Ohara,FoleyOpen ControlsHe could get a hattrick, or a red after 2 minutes.
It would be one to watch from behind the sofa, but fun.Open ControlsYa id like to go with something abit different. Although that failed big time last week.
Open Controls
i've got silva and balotelli and right now the armband's on balotelli!
May change though depending on the length of my fingernailsOpen Controls
Albion to get relegated, 100/1 with Bet365.
Would be stupid not to put £2 on just incase.Open ControlsMight as well stick that 2 quid in a charity box or something.
Open ControlsEveryone thinks their in a derby with the Villa, WBA, Wolves, Blues, Cov city even Stoke!
I only consider the Small Heath blue scum rivals.Open ControlsWolves are our main rivals, hate them with a passion, don't give a shit about Villa unless were playing them, same with Blues really.
Open Controls
lol
Open ControlsWe was until we skanked £8m off you for Curtis Davies! 😀
Open Controls
Just wondering, are non-members able to read this thread?
Open ControlsPremier League. Our best player is Scott Parker.
Open ControlsAs in Rugby league?
Open ControlsAny form of football be it played by donkeys on a beach with with a melon is superior to rugby league.
Id watched 99% of sports but Rugby league is one of those i see no point to. So controlled and without space and time to express any flair or creativity. I went through a phase of watching it for a while and it was like playing a bad computor game - the same moves resulted in tries every time. I couldnt see how people could follow it unless brought up in its culture with a link to a certain team. The fact that all players and commentators all sounded the same confirmed this.
Bang up the middle, kick and catch for try or recycle. It embodies everything a sport should not be - robotic in the extreme.
So ya Spl > RL 😉Open ControlsWell said, it's shit.
But the SPL is shit too, they had a ticker tape parade to welcome El Hadj Diouf FFS!Open Controlsnow now lets not get too mouthy about us jocks. sure the league is a 2 horse race but as are most european leagues! and don't worry diouf has been given rough treatment by everyone up here, he really is a vile little man. doesn't get a game for rangers anyway always on the bench.
Open Controls
Can't decide whether to start Huth or Dempsey...any body seen the future/got inside information/got nothing better to do than offer some advice?
Open Controlsdempsey. i don't know how they do it but blackpool keep scoring at home. also huth is always more likely not to score than he is to score so play the odds there too and go with the the double gamefreak
Open Controls
Team at the min..
Foster (Begovic)
Luiz-Dawson-Hughes (Carr,Simpson)
Lampard-Young-Adam-Fabergas (Ferguson)
Rvp-Torres-Sturridge
any of these worth doing??
A)Fabs & Sturridge out Yaya & Suarez in
B)Fabs & Ferguson out Kuyt & Yaya in
C)Torres & Ferguson out Suarez & Yaya inOpen ControlsC looks very palatable
Open ControlsC for me. I've had Ferguson in for most of the season as he is so cheap and as a sub is always guaranteed points if your first XI havent played - pretty decent bonuses earlier in the season and rarely booked. but now at the tail end of the season and rotation being used you want as many players in the squad capable of scoring highly. Torres might start vs Spurs but can't see that goal last week making too much difference to his performances. I'm captaining Suarez this week.
Open ControlsC) For some reason. I still think Torres is going to play as horrible as he does for Chelsea. Suarez is a killer move. I wanna do the same, but Ive already taken a 4PH for Odem and Kuyt. Yaya, lol hes there in all your options, so i think you know what he offers.
Open Controls
