Focusing on those players with more than two appearances in the last four gameweeks, we’ve not only picked out those high-performance headline hoggers, but have also identified some others who appear to be on the verge of picking up the plaudits (and subsequent Fantasy Premier League -FPL- points) for displays that have not yet brought reward. Here’s a closer look at the OPTA stats on show…

A wee bit of possibly useless information for the 49,000 of us who still have Craig Gardner from the double gameweek...

I was just looking at my team for the weekend and I automatically left him on the bench in favour of some more illustrious players. However, a scratch beneath the surface reveals that Mr Gardners home scoring record this season (6 goals) trumps any of the top 10 point scoring midfielders' away scoring record!

In other words, if it's a goal you want you've got a much better chance of getting one out of him this weekend than Nani, Dempsey, VDV, Downing, Young or Nolan - penalties or not!

I am 75 points in the clear in my mini league. What are peoples thoughts on protecting the lead, and continuing to match my second place opponents team, or making changes that I think will maximize points?

    I have:

    Foster, Begovic
    Luiz, Coleman, Terry (Jara, Simpson)
A Young, Adam, VDV, Dempsey, Nani
    Odemwingie, Van Persie (Gyan)

Main opponent has Luiz, Adam, Dempsey, Nani, Odemwingie from my team, and I worry about him having Malouda.

Was considering bringing in Yaya or Silva, but I am not sure who I’d drop…Nani is my first thought, but I don’t like that because he has Nani…

Thoughts? Is 75 points in the lead close to a done deal in this situation and just hold steady with a match his team strategy?

IMO, just play your own game, unless you have a lot of money on that league?

I've been pulling away from opponents by sticking to my guns while they go crazy finding 'differentials'

right on. Yes, there is a fair amount of money on it, and almost as important, I have been talking huge trash, in the lead, the whole year. I cannot lose this! 🙂

I might drop A Young, as he does not have him, and pickup some City coverage. I may also stand pat, and have two transfers going into the double. That way I may see a new player he picks up this week, for the double!

Your rival will likely try get some City and spurs coverage for the double. By getting a silva, vdv etc, your reducing the chances of them hurting your lead. Young to silva would be a good trade this week maybe?

In the first 27 weeks i spent 24 points on hits.

In the last 7 weeks I've spent 48 points on hits. (Some how my ranking went up in this time too)

Has anyone else's style changed that dramatically?!

Similar - the hits don't always pay off for me though. One time I took a 16 pt hit, and only scored 45, leaving me with 29. (My team was injury-racked though.)

nah, 44 and 28 respectively. Relatively many hits lately, but the difference aint that dramatic as in your case.

I took a strategy early on to not take hits. Drunken moves got in the way of that strategy, but really, I've only take a 4 pointer a few times this year. In hindsight, they did not overwhelmingly pay off...

19 green arrows out of 34 for me this season, but weeks when I took hits (7 times) there were only 2 green, with 5 red. Food for thought...

You may be chasing points but I've had Odem (as my third striker) for most of the season and I've been lucky knowing when to bench him. Him being injured a lot mid-season helped. But he is on top form and is a joy to watch and has certainly made a difference to the Baggies since Woy took him of the wing.

    Welbeck to Odemwingie

I have got a 20 point lead in my mini-league, so hesitant about getting rid of Nani, but looking at the fixtures, I think it makes sense - or maybe no..ahhhhhhhh- help!!!

I'm counting this as a bite if you choose to link his *one* dive vs arsenal vs all the wonder goals he has scored against them.

firstly i'm not as arsenal fan
                    secondly i'm not french
thirdly when has this ever been about rooney's goals or ability? bizarre, perhaps a sign of desperation due to having to defend the un-defendable.
fourthly i think the second one is a penalty, doesn't mean it's not a dive, if he doesn't dive almunia will bring him down anyway.
fifthly, some things are debateable, rooney going down before he gets to almunia isn't, it's a fact staring you in the face. so either you're a) a bit blind b) a moron c) biased beyond repair. take c it's the better option in this case

Wowzers, i think i just caught moby dick!

in all seriousness ab i was just questioning your initial decision to mention the infrequent rooney dives vs arsenal compared to the frequent moments of wonderful football in relation to his points potential as ©. A fair comment.

(The second one still isn't a dive though).

the fact that i would captain rooney if i had him (my initial post) is self explanatory. the dive comment wasn't even a fish just stating a fact, well seemingly not a fact as it appears that falling over nothing is not considered a dive. if rooney can prove he weighs < 5 grams and the power of the blade of grass and the wind combined hacked him down then fair enough, i'm sorry wayne

Never really expected him to be such a serial diver, but after that dive against Arsenal he may have just developed a penchant for diving seeing that even he could fool someone!

On a different note is this RBJ or someone else? really confusing with all the fakes hanging around.

Need a little lineup advice. Do I have this right? I feel I need to get Adam in there somehow.

    Foster (Begovic)
    R. Johnson, Luiz, Walker (Colemen, Djourou)
    Nani, Meireles, Silva, Malouda (Adam)
    RVP, Bent, Suarez (C)

Probably right. Bit of a pickle there. Could gamble on Meireles not getting anything, but I wouldn't want to bench any of the others.

I'm leaning Silva for 2 reasons...

      1) Once Carroll is back Kyut will drop back a bit and his numbers are down when Carroll starts.

      2) Silva has the DGW
