A 3-0 hammering of Fulham last Saturday signalled Southampton’s flourishing form and brought many of their main protagonists onto Fantasy radars. Having grabbed a goal apiece in the Craven Cottage mauling, Adam Lallana, Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert have been subject to considerable investment over the last few days as Fantasy managers turn to the mid-price trio ahead of a very kind run of fixtures for Mauricio Pochettino’s team:
Over the next six league matches, the Saints go head-to-head with Stoke, Hull, West Ham, Palace and Norwich and, whilst a Gameweek 28 showdown with Liverpool may pose a problem or two, the fact that four other sides have blanks in the same weekend somewhat lessens any possible downside.
Now up to third in the midfield standings in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Lallana has received more than 53,000 transfers in this week, with his current price of 7.8 still looking a real bargain. Rodriguez has been acquired by a similar number after climbing to sixth in the forward rankings on 107 points, whilst Lambert’s 15-point haul against Rene Meulensteen’s side took him to within three points of his fellow frontman.
In the second members article of the week, we delve into the data to see if the numbers can shed any more light on their potential Fantasy returns, as Pochettino’s side look to take advantage of the schedule and boost their bid for a Europa League spot:
