End of Season Awards – Voting Now Open

Sunday drops the curtain on our Fantasy seasons, signalling that it’s time for us to free up the part of our brains dedicated to the fortunes of our squads. Our thoughts and energies can now turn to such pressing matters as DIY, gardening, cleaning the car and spending time with our partners and friends. Alternatively, we could pass the time picking the bones out of the season passed.

Let’s go for option B.

Our end of season coverage kicks-off next week, with plenty of ideas up our sleeve to help you into June and July, when the pre-season friendlies and transfer merry-go-round will have us pondering selections for the 2011-12 shift.

Things start now with our Team of the Season awards – a process we’re opening up to you guys. We’re going to be running polls to gather your views on the players that earn acclaim as the leading Fantasy Football figures this season. Just to be clear, you’re voting on those players who had the biggest impact from a Fantasy perspective – taking their points tallies, price and performances into account. Your votes will help shape our thinking for the Team of the Season awards, with coverage coming your way early next week.

We start proceedings with the voting for the Goalkeeper of the season. Few introductions are needed for the candidates on offer here, so you can get right down to the voting. You’ll find the poll on the front page above this week’s Captain Poll. Voting the goalkeeper of the season will close on Thursday morning.

    what do the capt scores vs bench scores actually mean? as my results were good but i would say this season has been a car crash since about week 27 or so..

      The captain one shows how good you are at choosing captains, or how little inclined you are to piss about captaining someone you know isn't playing.

      The bench one shows how good you are at selecting the right 11, or how hopelessly crap your bench is.

        Doesn't it tell you the percentage of points your captain got compared to your highest scoring player that week... AFTER auto captain has come into effect?

        This would mean it doesn't matter if you've captained an injured/ suspended player or whatever.

      Captain scores = (cumulative scores of your captains/cumulative scores of your highest scoring player each week)

      Not sure if the bench percentage is a percentage of all points (including the ones left on your both) or a ratio of points on bench all season:points from first XI all season.

        So yeah, the higher the percentage for your captain choices, the better. It shows that you often chose your highest/one of your highest scoring players each week.

        The total bench points is *that* relevant, it's all about what percentage of your total points - from all 15 players - you have left on your bench this season. The lower the percentage here, the better.

          mine last season = (c)=382/531 71.9% Bench=218 8.1%. This season (c)=232/451 51.4% Bench=254 11.9%. 🙁

      So people don't judge me from my score to be honest. I feel like I can offer sound advice now, but something I know I have been guilty of is ignoring someone's advice due to their rank. So gonna take mine out for now!

      I am gutted I mentioned the greasemonkey thing haha, but I like being a help to people so it's worth it I guess! Even if it means I do much less work 😕

        Hmmm, i know what you mean. but tbh i dont think im going to pay much attention to it next season i'd much rather take your advice than some muppet in my minileague with a higher rank. despite your rank you give good advice and i can say the opposite, there are people in the top 1k that are giving horrendous advice.

    Anyone got any plans for their team next season? I'm personally going to get a very cheap defence from week one, all 5.0 and below. If it doesn't work out for whatever reason, their is always the wildcard. 🙂

        There was a chap with about 20 teams, can't remember his name now. He was bragging about his score with one of them.
        Pointless.

        Saying that though we used to have a minileague with two sides in, one normal side and one where you couldn't pick anyone from the big four at the time (Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal). That was good, but having 20 sides then picking whichever one is your best scorer is plainly cheating in my opinion.

    totalfpl r top of the leagues...

    All the people at the bottom of the league have a green arrow, which would suggest that members of the league that were below the average have either dropped out or been kicked out allowing them to overtake FFS? Cheap tactics if that's correct

      Nah, it's only the top 5 in each league that count towards the average.

      Although they have [apparently] been recruiting players with very high ranks to boost the average. Absolutely pathetic if it's true.

        While they were second, someone in the top 3 of the world who had been using TFPl for most of the season joined after a lot of persuasion from people on there, which I think is what people take as 'recuruiting'. Cant see how they could could recruit seeing as the only contact would be email which isn't shown anyway.

            I'm 90% sure when I was on there before, they were trying to persuade someone well ranked to join as 'that would put them first in the leagues overtaking FFS', or something along the lines..

            Its a bit dodgy but not so bad if they actually uses the site. Mauritius Champions (currently 4th) were sending out Facebook messages etc
            to random people.

              Yeah the FPL should do that, otherwise the Best Leagues table is a little worthless. There can never be a "prize" due to last minute additions to leagues. Shame, it might have been a digital camera.

        To be clear, everybody in our mini league has used TotalFPL. Indeed, that includes the world number one who is NOT currently in our league, but has used the site (as I'm sure most of you on here have).

        The only time we have asked people to join is when they are existing members of our community who have had a good season, and I don't have any issues with that at all.

        Indeed, there are further people in the top 20 who have not yet joined our league but are regulars on TotalFPL.

        I think you should show a little class - it's not over yet and the FFS mini league could still win - but TotalFPL is a free site for everyone, there's no need for such animosity 🙂

                I ususally stop using it half way through the season because I (wrongly or rightly) assume that I'll have enough money for transfers.

            I think everyone who uses one is guaranteed to be nerdy enough to use t'other.

            The price thing is their main asset, it's very handy. Personally though I don't like the chat box system, I never use the Dugout Discussion one on here either.

            If it added in the price algorithm then TotalFPL would struggle to survive imho.

      I think Suarez is going to find it tougher next year. Hernandez looks like a good pick, seems like 1 of those players that are very difficult to mark - late runs with pace and constantly gets himself between defenders

        Crouch ball! I'll check in the Opta Stats here in a minute, but I'd imagine that BAE makes a large percentage of their long balls. That seems to be one of their main tactics.

        Blackpool have also made a hell of a lot. Their games are always entertaining, but do they actually play good football? Their main tactic is clearly pumping long diagonal balls to their wide forwards, and getting midfielders/full backs up in support of them.
