With almost two thousand votes now gathered in the goalkeeper of the season poll, it’s time to move our Team of the Season voting on to the defence.

Our new poll is now open on the front page. You have four votes available to you, allowing you to select the group of defenders that you feel have had the biggest impact on our Fantasy season. As before, you should take into account not only their point returns, but also their value from Fantasy perspective.

Your votes will help shape our thinking for our Team of the Season – with coverage beginning early next week. A midfielders poll will follow tomorrow evening with voting on forwards taking place over the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yes. I'm currently working in Riyadh and the standard cable television network show all the major games from around Europe. Channels 40 to 49 are all dedicated to football.

If you can't access cable then your only other option is the Embassy where you can watch Sky Sports.

Do you think I still have a chance this week, 16 points behind. Can see it being close and me losing by a last minute goal costing me a CS>

Me: Foster, Dawson, Kolorov, G. Johnson, VDV/Hitz, Adam, Berba (c), Suarez
Him: Hart, RJ, Bardsley, Luiz, Walters, Yaya, Juyt, Tevez (c) Odem

Without trying to give you too much confidence. Your team looks better suited for the final GW but it may well come down completely to the captain choices.

Okay, so i'm chasing a guy with a 32 point lead. Am i wrong to have any hope?

    My team:
    Foster (Begovic)
Walker, Luiz, Dawson, Huth, R. Johnson
    Adam, Modric, Silva, vDV, N'Zogbia
    Bent, RvP, Carroll

    His team:
    Foster (Al-Habsi)
    Carr, Luiz, Simpson, Huth, Djourou
    A. Young, vDV, Adam, Lampard, Yaya Toure
    Suarez, Hernandez, RvP

Is it just a case of me trading Carroll for Berbatov, captaining him and hoping my rival doesn't do the same?

People who saw the offer from bet click.

no catches on the free 30 bet its just a case of depositing money into the account does cost 1.60.

i backed huddersfield in 90 mins so lost and as soon as the result ended i got 30 quid back in my account and withdrew it.

so basically 1.60 for a 30 quid bet...

Is Berbatov really likely to score that many this weekend? Surely he won't be getting the usual standard of service with Valancia, Roony and Nani all on the bench.

      Porto -1.5 @ 7/5

So two out of three, pretty good!

Should be goals, goals, goals in the play-off game tonight. Went for:

He gained 60 points on me last week (Hangeland was 21 of those points) and he has completely different team so it is possible.

Maybe Hangeland has a chance of scoring against dodgy Arsenal defence from corners.

So assuming you're 1st and he's the one with 91 points this week. Wow thats incredible, that he clawed you back so much. However you've still got a 70 pt lead and there's no way he'll do it 2 weeks in a row.

If he does I'll eat my hat.

Only 1.1m for me. The end of the season is definitely more boring than the start. I guess the initial phase wore off, but at least then you had to base decisions on price rises. Should I risk transferring early to avoid missing a price rise, or having to pay over the top, or should I wait. I did a few transfers early at the start of the season, now I can happily wait until Saturday morning knowing I have enough money for pretty much whatever I'd want to do.

Because I am lazy, I am only suggesting this, but it would be handy for the Scouts to do a "What they need to do to stay up/What they need to do to secure 3rd/4th/5th/6th" Article, so we know that for instance if Wigan and Birmingham both win, Birmingham have the more favourable goal difference (+2), so winning isn't enough for Wigan (if Birmingham win), they need to win by at least 4 goals (which obviously is unlikely to happen) in order to hope that Wigan don't win by 2 also, if that makes sense, if it doesn't you get the idea.

We can all work out the various motivations, but it would be useful to know exactly what teams need to aim for, so we can get an idea as to their intent, and therefore prospects.

I thought that.. until I saw his two goals against Stoke. Most of Tevez big scores have come in away games too. City will want to seal that third spot and Bolton have been on summer vacation the last three GWs πŸ˜›

tevez was a bit of an away sensation earlier in the season. i'm guessing people are hoping for a return to that form. bolton were solid at home (just 2 losses in 17!) then somehow lost to the most out of form sunderland side possible. so who knows?

Shipping out Bent straight after he scored a brace would be a foolish move. He's very much a form/confidence striker and has a good chance of netting again this weekend imo.

For anyone who didn't see my 'debate' yesterday about Tevez.

To clarify I'm not saying he's a bad option BUT...

    Bolton home form: WWWWWL
    Man City Away form: DLLLWL
Tevez: 8 of last 9 goals scored at home.

I know there are plenty of other considerations, but I'm not ignoring these stats!

Depends what stats you want to focus on. I could point out that Bolton have conceded 16 goals in their last 6 PL games against mediocre opponents, apart from Arsnal, these have been...Blackpool, Sunderland, Blackburn, Fulham and Stoke.

It's all about the big picture imo... I never look at stats like that when picking players. I sometimes take a look at how different teams have played before when they've met.

Mostly I just look at individual players, their shots and their movement (heat maps) on the pitch combined with the form of their opponent. This deep in the season you have to look at what the particular teams have to play for and so on.

Stats are fine, but you have to remember that there are many other variables to consider as well.

        My post without the stats:

"To clarify I’m not saying he’s a bad option BUT…
        ...
        ...
I know there are plenty of other considerations, but I’m not ignoring these stats!"

So yes I agree it's foolish to *only* look at stats, but I also think it's foolish to ignore them completely.

Bolton don't win 5/6 home games and lose 5/6 away games by pure coincidence. (pretty much the same for city)

I agree weird things happen at the end of the season but thats mainly because of massive changes in team selections and mentality...

I think bolton will play a strong team and the manager will have them motivated.

Man city are local rivals so the fans will be up for it too

i actually think the birmingham tottenham game could ruin it and not the way you'd guess, but tottenham not scoring. it would be classic tottenham if they lost 1-0 or drew 0-0 here. i'm even tempted to play foster as i think he could have one of those 1 man performances.
