Rafael Van der Vaart has this evening ruled himself out of Tottenham’s end of season clash with Birmingham on Sunday.
The Dutchman again communicated the message to supporters via Twitter, having earlier confirmed his calf injury via the same channel this week.
This morning Harry Redknapp stated that Van der Vaart was “struggling” with the calf injury but now Fantasy Managers have had the situation clarified. While Van der Vaart’s tweet is far from official – there’s no reason to doubt the player’s announcement and we must now make plans for our squads without the services of a player who has become a firm favourite this season.
The news follows earlier confirmation of Peter Odemwingie’s absence from West Brom’s lineup for the trip to Newcastle – two very significant absentee’s going into the gameweek 38 conclusion. In many ways however, having both injury doubts cleared up, provides clarity on their situations and allows us to contemplate the merits of spending points on transfers to repair the gaps they leave in our squads.
