After Germany’s win over Argentina brought the 2014 World Cup to its conclusion last night, we take a final look at the standings in the FantasyiTeam game. Matchday 7 consisted of Saturday’s third/fourth place play-off in addition to Sunday’s Final and, in a closely-contested last evening of action, just six points separated the top five players in the Fantasy Football Scout league:

A free-to-play Fantasy football app, FiT is available on a number of mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPodTouch and Android. We supported FiT throughout the summer and with a £500 Amazon voucher available to the winner of the official Fantasy Football Scout League, there was everything to play for over the weekend’s action.

Fantasy Football Scout League

Stefano Von Meedows climbed back to the top of the Scout League in a dramatic final night of action. He used his trio of free trades to draft in three of the Germany back-four and also took up the option to purchase a fourth (which costs 100 FiT Credits) to acquire another member of Joachim Low’s starting defenders. With Manuel Neuer already in place between the sticks, Stefano’s decision to go all-out on the winners’ backline delivered five clean sheets in Sunday’s match and with Robin Van Persie amongst the goals in Holland’s win over Brazil, he reclaimed his spot at the Scout League summit on 530 points.

Also on 530 points is King Jon, who went into the weekend’s action with a 22-point advantage over any of his rivals. His decision to opt for only one Germany defender for the Final against Argentina proved costly, though, as his faith in the South Americans was undone by Mario Gotze’s late winner. Having scored less goals than Stefano over the tournament, King Jon finished second in the Scout League.

Just four points further behind is Juan Garcia. Like Stefano, he drafted in Germany’s back-four and keeper for the Final but with ground to make up, his decision to hand Phillip Lahm the armband was an inspired one. With Arjen Robben serving up an assist in Holland’s 3-0 triumph over Brazil, Juan managed a very respectable 526 points overall.

Paul Fitzgerald was a non-mover in fourth spot. He also chose to captain Lahm for Matchday 7 but his decision to opt for three Argentines and three Germans at the back was ultimately ruined by Gotze’s winner and meant Paul finished on 525 points, just five off the top of the Scout League leaderboard.

Lewis Nicklen completes the top five on 524 points. After his side chalked up four Holland clean sheets and a Van Persie goal in Saturday’s match, Lewis looked perfectly placed to take advantage but, despite having goalscorer Gotze on board for the Final, his decision to hand Lionel Messi the armband proved costly to his hopes of clinching top spot.

For those looking to play FiT over the upcoming domestic season, the player prices are now live in-app, allowing you to tinker with your squads ahead of the big kick-off on Saturday August 16.

Sanchez or Ramsey not tickle your fancy? Although budget may add value to him (Ozil), I'm thinking Walcott may be the lucky recipient of that bonus.

    Jack Colback - £Free
    Siem De Jong - £6m
    Remy Cabella - £7.1m
    Daryl Janmaat - £5m

Some pretty good bargains there by Newcastle, but still wouldn't be confident owning any of them in FPL.

          if Shaw is 5.5

          Cahill, Shaw, Trippier, +2

the +2 depends on prices as far as keepers and defenders go as I want Palace and West Ham defence of some kind

What's everyone's early thoughts on LVG?

Don't think I like him already. He shouldn't have come out and said that two of his players refused the first penalty in the Argentina shoot-out. That sort of thing should stay between the team really.
Bringing on Krul was a bad idea too IMO. It came back to cost Holland in the second shoot-out when Cillessen then knew the manager had no faith in him.
He likes to blow his own trumpet a bit too: "I taught Romero how to stop penalties."

Looks a decent manager though. Certainly a character.

I don't think Holland losing the shootout had anything to do with Krul playing the last one. Cillessen knew when the tournament started who the keeper for shootouts was given the chance.

You think it's LVGs fault that he didn't save any?

Of course it was not LVG's fault, and he probably wouldn't have saved any in any event, seen that he never has. But he didn't know who will play the shootouts, according to his own words that the substitution to Krul was a surprise to him and he was a bit upset because he had not been told that this is LVG's plan.

Will be keeping a very close eye on pre season for their defensive line up. That run of fixtures almost demands ManU clean sheet cover. Problem is though the likes of Jones, Evans and Smalling are so injury prone that price is almost immaterial.

Well, Vidic is gone and Evra looks like he's on his way to Juventus. Evans, Smalling or Jones don't really interest me and they're not nailed on. I think Shaw is the main man in the United defence, I'd be very surprised if Shaw wasn't nailed on. Surely he's gonna play most games if they pay 30m for him?

So, who's gonna be the first player you put on your team when FPL launches? RvP for me, gonna build my team around him.

he's accommodated Sneijder well, no reason Rooney can't play a similar role. Roon has had more rest and could be a huge opening differential.
