The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

      I like it, except no City might hurt. Maybe Silva instead of Mata.

      Chambers is a transfer waiting to happen, but hopefully you can get 2 weeks out of him and a price rise.

    I'm really curious!

    1. Why does everyone have Man United options as their most expensive defensive coverage (DDG or Evans). Aren't United usually leaky? Isn't it better to have Arsenal or Chelsea instead?

    2. Mata is always picked. Eriksen and Sterling are only almost always picked. Is Mata really going to perform better?

    3. Is Luis nailed on at the back for Chelsea?

      1. People trust LVG to get it right at both ends of the pitch. Still, I think DDG is too expensive; saving a million won't hurt you much, if at all. As for Evans, not that expensive really, but will he score much more than clean sheet points? I doubt it.

      2. Mata has great fixtures, he's in great form. So are Eriksen and Sterling, though, but with more average fixtures. Pick Mata, but make efforts to include the others you mentioned as well.

      3. No-one is nailed on at the back for Chelsea. Which is why I'm reluctantly avoiding them for now.

      I would downgrade dzeko to someone like pelle and invest that 1m into your defence on someone like Evans or jones. Henderson is all down to personal preference. He will play every game, but I think siggy will get more points this season.

        Dzeko I think is good value.

        I could do Sturridge > Costa, Eriksen > Sterling to raise 0.5

        Then Henderson > Mutch to raise another 0.5

      Loving the big yaya in your team, he's in mine too! I would be careful with debuchy due to his yellow cards. Davies in my eyes is too risky as we don't know if rose will take his place. I prefer snoddy or siggy over Henderson. Apart from that it looks strong

    Hi all.
    Long time reader First time poster. My team today is:

    Cahill Ward Chambers (Hutton Wisdom)
    Mata Hazard Hendo Siggers Ramsey
    Rooney Costa Bojan
    I know you've seen it umpteen times but please convince me to include Sturridge over Haz in place of Bojan also would need to go Krulliot and 4.5 bench mid. Unsure about Chambers for 1 week too. Want to go Cameron/Wilson.
    Worth it? I also would need to change my team name if I did this

      I think your team actually looks quite solid if I'm honest.... What formation would you play? I'm not keen on hendo. I don't think Sturbridge is essential until later but I am sure he will prove me wrong!

        Thanks for replying. 3-5-2. Think Sturridge price is putting people off. Not sure it's worth sacrificing DDG and Haz tho. I have doubts about Henderson and Siggers now too. Usually I go with all 4 to 4.5 Def and it's served me well. Thought I'd try a more balanced approach this year but doubting that now too.....

      7/10.

      Krul is ok for a cheap buy but begovic I think is going to be great especially at the start.

      Defence is very weak and I think you should change hazard to fabregas. Then change one of your other defenders to a 4..5m (Chester) and then use that spare 1.5m to upgrade your defence to include luis/azpi and jones/Evans.

      Upfront is solid, I like the Austin pick.

        Caulker, Ward and Clyne are weak?

        Last season: 122, 123 and 100 points respectively. (5 goals and 8 assists between them, only to be improved on this season imo). Clyne also acheived that score in 1800 mins.

        Moore is okay for the first game, after that he will be the last sub.

        I will bring in "stronger" defence in my Winter WC.

        Krul and Elliot back each other up nicely but you are right, I may shave off .5 somewhere and get Begovic.

            There are too many questions around the Chelsea backline. Alot of money to invest with so many questions. Even though they have "easy" fixtures to start I can still see them conceding.

            They have played nine preseason games so far, kept a clean sheet in two of them.

    I know this is pretty template, but the burning question for me is to go for Sterling and Bojan, or Sidwell (or some other 5.5 or less MID) and Giroud. Already got Arsenal cover and no Liverpool, so learning towards Sterling and Bojan...

    Begovic (Myhill - any 4.0 will do, Stoke got good fixtures at the start.)
    Chambers - Cahill - Evans (Wisdom - Bartley) - Chambers not nailed on but will start at least the first round.

      As long as Chester plays (Wisdom might not), then that's a good defence. Midfield is strong and a good mix. Dzeko you can swap later if needed, but Wood who?

    Defense works well with only 8 and 13 as shaky weeks.Might use the 1.0m spare to get Vertonghen or Luis in at some point, or Costa -> Sturridge in GW4. Prefer Henderson over Siggy, think we could see double figures for goals and assists from Henderson this year, and as nailed on as any player in the league it seems. Siggy won't be effective on the wing if Swansea stick to 4-4-2.

    Debuchy, Caulker, Filipe Luis (Chester, Wisdom)

    Ramsey, Fabregas, Mata, Arnautovic (Sigurdsson)

    Rooney, Costa, Bojan

    Thinking of possibly doing Arnautovic > Mutch and using the 1m to change Krul for Begovic and upgrade Wisdom to a 4.5 def. Thoughts?

      Get rid of Alb - his price is going to drop pretty fast as people off load him. Look for an alternative 4.5m midfielder who plays with lower ownership

    Getting closer but having put Sturridge in, concerned about my defence is pretty poor until general team increases in price and I can bring in a better defender.
    Previously hag Giroud up front with the remaining m's spent on better defenders
