The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

      Defence looks a little pricey (benching 5m isn't something I'm mad about).

      I wouldn't trust him tbh. Maybe Haz to Fab and upgrade Naismith.

    Is remy injured? if so how long? I'm looking for a 4.5 fwd and zamora looks the best option

      A 4.5 forward will only take you so far. Even if Zamora starts, he will be on the bench soon enough, and you will be forced to reorganize your team. But if you're happy having a third striker who doesn't play, then it will of course work. However, I would look into downgrading elsewhere to free up some striker cash, if only 1.0-1.5 more.

    Thinking about downgrading Mata to Young and spreading the love around.

      Both choices could have issues.

      City have done abysmally in defence in the pre-season, so Zabby gets a no from me 😐

      Jovetic isn't a guaranteed starter. And take Dzeko over Giroud, the latter is unlikely to score too many more screamers 🙂

                  Yeah, I'm more set on Lovren (and any other Liverpool player for that matter) after GW 4 🙂

                  Some people seem to believe Rose and Davies will rotate in Spurs though, so he might not be nailed on.

                      But then again, Villa has terrible fixtures. Haha, it's not easy this game. I'm struggling with my defence as well.

      Zabaleta played most of the WC with Argentina, he won't be fit from the off. I think Sagna is far more likely to start and even he isn't fully fit yet. I heard rumours that Zabaleta hasn't had a rest in 2-3 seasons, with injuries and international tournaments etc so the plan was to ease him back very slowly into this new season

      Again, I'd highly recommend getting out of the United defence, they appear to have lost Shaw and Evans.

      Switching Eriksen to Mata with the money gotten from the downgrade of the defence will compensate for your depleted United coverage 😀

      Costa is indispensable. I must warn you on that.

      Shaw may be injured. Look that up if you can.

      I would strongly suggest downgrading Sanchez to Ramsey. Sanchez has yet to score in the pre-season.

    B) Caulker, Bartley, Mutch and Boyd
    C) Chester, Caulker, Ward-Prowse and Boyd

    My other defenders are Debuchy, Ward and Wisdom and only 1 of the midfielders would be starting. Ideally I'd have Chester, Caulker and Mutch but I can't find an extra 0.5 in my team. Could use some help with this decision.

      Hazard --> Fabregas, swap Sturridge to Costa - that's £2 million saved

      so you had Hazard and Sturridge. You now have Fabregas and Costa and £2 million.

      2 players from a team predicted to finish 1st or 2nd this year is a much better way to go than spreading your bets.

      What do you plan to do with the £2 mill ?

      Debuchy will definitely start. I think Luis will too, but that is more uncertain. Chambers will likely drop to the bench as soon as Mertesacker is back.

          I truly have no idea. Thinking about it, I suppose it could just as well be Luis as any of the others 🙂 I'm staying clear (for now), but people seem to think Azpi will drop to the bench. Even though Mourinho said that a team of Azpilicuetas would win CL...

        You think Debuchy will stay in the team for a few weeks? If so that's one less concern over my team. I like the look of Luis and want to see him play regularly for Chelsea which then just leaves me worrying about sticking with Bojan and finding a better (more regular starter) for El Ahmadi.

      Luis is not quite nailed on. Vlaar,Luis -> Lovren,Shawcross. Consider Wisdom or Chester in place of Jagielka as he has a nightmare run of fixtures to begin with.

      We're not sure if Jove is starting either. Upgrading to Dzeko would be good idea. Lastly, I would replace Coutinho with Sterling.

      Nice team.

      Few things tho:

      I'd downgrade Hazard to Fabregas. Better value to start with I think.

      Way prefer Eriksen to Lamela.

      Very wary of Utd. defence with so many injuries.

      Costa can be worked in and is fixture proof.

              I have that exactly the same team with Ward instead of Jones because I'm sticking with Mutch and that leaves me 0.5 short.

      I wouldn't bother upgrading your bench at all. There's nothing worse than benching points and your subs looks reasonably nailed on.

      Prefer Foster to Krul but that starting 11 is great.

    Vert / Chambers / Ward / Moore / Hutton
    Fab / Rambo / Mata / Hendo / Marney

    Anyone got any info on how likely vert and lukaku are to play?
    Who would you replace vert with? Would go chelsea but too unpredictable re: luis vs azpi

    Hey guys, many thanks in advance of my post:

    does anyone know how nailed on is Bartley for Swansea or any other 4.0 Def apart from Wisdom? If he is that nailed on, I'm thinking of swapping

    N.Taylor -> Barley and
    S.Davis -> A. Young

    Both combos cost the same but doing this would make Young my out and out 5th mid and would give me more confidence playing a 3-5-2 as an option to 3-4-3. Still weighing up Ramsay v Sanchez so any help on that would be great

    McGregor (Heaton) - rotating depending on fixtures
    Terry, Debuchy, Shawcross (N. Taylor) (Wisdom)

    The only thing I'm worried about is having no Man City cover, though I think their fixtures are pretty tough.

    Also Ashley Young looks as though he could be a good buy at 5.5m but I've already got 3 Man U players.
