The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

      YOu need to change your entire defence imo. None are nailed on apart from O'Shea who is a walking injury. TBH I'm not sure where all the money went, you have Albrighton and Riviere as well 😕 Although the later might do well, its a bit of a punt really.

      hmm, riviere could backfire, but go with your gut if you fancy him to do well, defence looks very light, personally i would downgrade hazard and improve that. also you have ramsey twice

      Leave Bojan on the bench I reckon. Also reconsider your defence, Davies, Chambers and Naughton aren't nailed on.

      I like the differentials on your team, it is quite an interesting line up.
      Personally, I think having Hazard or Fab is much safer than Oscar though.

      Siggy is good pick imo and you can rotate him with Bojan over coming fixtures. Not a big fan of those three latter names in your defence. Too early to judge upon if they're going to play week in week out. Downgrading Sanchez is a decent start to improve your team as a whole. If I were you I might also consider ditching Mata for some City coverage.

    Plan to downgrade 1x chelsea defender following their 2 good fixtures and upgrade hendo to sterling

    Do you think DDG is still best bet considering UTDs defence is riddled with injuries?
    Do you think Bojan would be better replaced by Austin, Jelavic, Jukwieczczczccz?

      As a United fan since late 90s I strongly advise that you steer your thoughts as far out as it is possible considering United's defensive potential this term. Fixtures are sweet but atm defence is a hell of a mess. Bego is a way better option imo and .5 cheaper too.

    Nice punt on Coutinho, but I think that u need to get Hazard in the team and he will outscore Oscar especcialy vs weaker teams. He likes to destroy them.

    The plan was to switch either Fabregas or Hazard on the 3rd gameweek for a Man City mid. Also coloccini is very much a placeholder, though he does rotate well with Davies/Debuchy/Azpilacueta.

    Only worries are if Huth and Dzeko start, and the lack of Hazard/Sanchez in my team and the prospect of having to take a hit to upgrade to them. Any ideas?

      If you're concerned about Huth and want to keep United defensive cover, you could get Begovic and Jones instead of Huth and De Gea?

      Clyne could be an alternative to Huth with Wisdom covering his hard first fixture. The rest looks good though, you probably have enough big hitters to cover Hazard/Sanchez

      Looks alright, a lot of money on the forwards. Maybe go Sturridge to Dzeko and Young to Sterling as good a preseason he has had. I would wait a couple weeks on Courtois, maybe trade him to Begovic/DDG then if you get Begovic, you could go Wanyama to Sterling.

    Happy with what I think my final team!! Any tips or modifications? Yes i know Jovetic had Dzeko but hasent done anything good in preseason. Jov is a beast aswell

      Ive just got rid of Luis, too much unknown about whether he'll start or not and don't want that hanging over your team. I also like your confidence with Jovetic and hope it pays off, I had him too but got rid eventually for Sturridge.

          Couldn't find a replacement I was happy with other than possibly Lovren purely for the first gameweek. Decided I had to upgrade to Terry and downgrade my 4.5 (Chester) to a 4.0 (Hutton). Just thought it would possibly ruin a gameweek if my main hope for a clean sheet didnt even start.

      A good yaya team! Go for Foster instead of Mannone (him and Pantmillion have shared all the preseason games so its 50/50 who will play). Defence is good (Ive got the same back 3!). Very solid

      Good team, I would only suggest Yaya to Fabregas and Austin to Jovetic (if you want to take a punt). Yaya seems too much and he has had a few problems in the offseason

    Couple of questions fellas:

    1) Will Naughton def start the first few Spurs games? Might get him as a placeholder with 0.5 in the bank for when we know whether Bavies/Rose gets the nod

    2) Best 4m - Bartley, Wisdom or Bruce?
