The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

      This could turn out great if Luis is nailed on because you have Hazard and Costa as well. All of Chelsea's left side covered. Not so great bench though

    This looking ok guys? Might not look overly great at first, but taking into account rotations/fixtures i think it's a good 'squad'.

      Like the defense except for Jones. Dont like UTD def right now. Like the mid except for Hendo. I managed to get Jovetic over Bojan in my team. Should be able to get him. Bojan will be a 2point merchant I think.

        I will probably downgrade 1 of the 5.0 DEF as 4 DEF > 5.0 is probably too much! So will probably end up without caulker!

        I know there is a lot of love for Ramsey but I just have a feeling that he will underperform this season especially when Walcott, Sanchez and Ozil are fit and firing!

      There may be a rise on Saturday night if a player playing Saturday gets a hattrick, or a defender scores a goal and gets a clean sheet. Chelsea defenders aren't likely to change until at least Monday/Tuesday but realistically given their price, there's unlikely to be a huge bandwagon for any of them.

        Defense is definitely lightweight. But Clyne and Kelly will pretty much play all the time.

        Williamson cover GW 3, 5, 8 for Palace
        and Kelly cover GW 7 for Soton.

        Why wouldn't Kelly play?

        Not counting on a good GW 1 score with that defense really. It's a tricky fixture.

            Won't play Kelly in GW 1 too though so won't worry too much.

            Alternatively I can have Chester as a placeholder and analyse whos nailed on CPL?
            Might take a hit to take him out afterwords tho.

      Luis is a risk for GW1, Mourinho loves to rotate.

      I think there are better options than Albrighton at 4.5M

      IMO, Bojan will be a fail on this site, but there arent much better options at 5.5M

      Dzeko will play to begin with, whether he keeps his spot when Aguero returns is another thing altogether. Also I think its worth going with Albrighton from the start rather than waste a transfer on a trade. Rest of the starting team looks good.

    I am thinking of swapping Davies as I'm not sure who will start. Do you think Jordan Mutch is a better option than Davis. I might swap Dzeko for Jovetic but I do want to try and get Costa into my team if possible. Also do you think it is worth keeping Hazard?

      Looks alright apart from the keepers. Have you considered slight downgrades to improve in that department? Jovetic instead of Dzeko for example?

        I know my gks aren't the best on paper but I do rate Krul.

        I would prefer dzeko over jovetic as it allows an easy swich to giroud / bony if required

          Yeah thats a fair point, personally I think Dzeko is the one more likely to drop out of the side however. When Aguero returns I'd expect Jovetic to partner him. Bit of a gamble but might be worth it.

      Thoughts are:

      - Not a big fan of the Krelliot solution, 15 CS in last two seasons Newcastle have got altogether.
      - Debuchy doesn't represent value at 5.5, take a look at a community artice on this site.
      - I prefer Jovetic over Dzeko

    Naismith or Lukaku?

    Lukaku is lacking match fitness and is doubtful he will start
    but there is always a chance

      Looks good. Can't really fault it apart from the fact that Luis isn't nailed on. Bit risky to pick him at that price I think. I'd want first team assurances first.

      What do we think of siggy chaps? He's dropped out of a fair few RMTS, but surely monk won't play him wide. He's a sensible man, and with routledge and dyer back siggy should move back into the hole behind bony? (How dodgy does that sound)

      Think Naughton will last the first 2 good fixtures at least, and hopefully more. If not, an easy swap to a 4.5 that has come along ala Kelly at CPL.

          Nah no money which is a worry, I do prefer Dzeko but not sure where to take 0.5 off.

          Not 100% convinced on United but they are a decent price and those fixtures!

        Not sure Naughton is nailed on either, any intel?
        Obviously the keepers are pretty meh but they usually are anyway.

          Well he'll start while Walker is out. Wish there was one more 4.0 that was an option and I'd have him and Dzeko over Naughton and Jovetic.
